The Hillcrest Hotel

After having read the reviews I was half expecting Basil Fawlty to appear. However give credit where credit is due the staff were very good. Upon looking at my non refurbed room outsidethe window was the services and plant piping , a new room was called for. This though busy, as we were there on a business meeting proved no problem and the girl was helpful gave me a bunch of keys and told me to choose which one was better for me. An experience that i would not do again, the bedrooms dirty and in need of decoration. food was just ok, but the resturant looks dirty and glasses were. Over all not a good stay.

the room was nice, however, it was like a constant sauna. we could not open the window as the generator was right outside so therefore had to boil for our entire stay. our toilet also would not flush. the restaurant was not open when we got there, so we had to make do with a sandwich from the bar, not ideal after travelling for 5 hours. The staff were friendly enough, however, the customer service was absolutley appaling. My husband and myself stayed in this hotel on our wedding night. We arrived at 2am with no problems checking in and friendly staff. Champagne on ice in room. Beautiful room, 4 poster bed very luxurious and clean. Never quite made it to breakfast so couldn't comment on food. Really happy with overall. would go back.

We took our two teenage children on a whirlwind tour of the UK recently and stayed in eight different hotels. The Hillcrest was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. EVER. The room was filthy, the bedding was very old and worn, the beds themselves were very uncomfortable, the shower had mold growing between the tiles and the fiberglass tub was cracked. Funny thing, like most hotels in the UK they did provide a hair dryer in the room but it was about 20 feet away from the closest mirror, so it was pretty useless. Now on to... more
