A wonderful hotel from which to explore the dynamic city of Berlin.
Rooms are very modern and larger than most European rooms. Staff are very friendly and only too willing to give advice about where to visit during your stay.
The hotel is situated 'above' the C&A store on the corner of Augsburger Strasse but don't let this put you off.
A lovely modern Italian type Bistro across the street serves wonderfully fresh pastas and great Tiramisu.

The hotel is rated as 5 star, which might be pushing it a little, though it would definitely rank as a very good four star. The entrance to the hotel is slightly unusual - the street level entrance reveals glass elevators, which take you to a first floor reception. The interior is stylish and modern, and the staff are professional.
Our standard room was sparsely furnished, but well designed and comfortable, with a good firm bed and an espresso machine (nice touch!). The bathroom, while small, was smart and very clean. We got an excellent price through Expedia, and it was well worth the money.
The only (very slight) drawback is that the hotel's position in the west of the city means a fair trip to the sights of the east. However, the opposite would clearly apply if you selected a hotel based in the east (e.g. in Mitte). That said, Swisstotel is well placed for the U-Bahn (which is clean, safe and reliable), and there are no problems getting around this wonderful and fascinating city.
