There's not a lot of choice for hotels in the immediate area so I was more or less stuck with this one.
It's a pretty standard Holiday Inn and it's close to the motorway exit. The room was clean and well equipped and a decent size. I was at the back of the hotel which overlooked some trees and a pond with a distant view of the Mersey. The bathroom was quite large and very clean. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was fairly quiet so I had a good night's sleep.
There's nothing much in the immediate area for eating and drinking so I ate at the hotel. It was OK, but overpriced for what it was.. A decent hotel if you're in the area.

Holiday Inn Runcorn.
On arrival reception very warm and friendly. Fast check inn. Hotel lobby open with plenty of furniture available for casual meetings or social chats.
Room was small but comfortable. Trouser press available but no iron (call to reception iron/board 5mins). Bathroom clean with good shower/bath combination.
Good bar with night porter service. Breakfast is self service full English/continental waiter available for tea. There is also a fitness centre within the hotel.
