Cottons Hotel and Spa

This is a fantastic hotel, great rooms, great restaurant and very friendly staff. Only thing I would say is I wasn't very pleased to have a knock on the door at 8am from maids although do not disturb was hung on the door!

As we drove into the car park, ..for a wedding reception, it looked well managed, although to be honest it looked like many others from the front.but the Hotel is really trying to be above the average..and mainly succeding, the rooms are very comfortable,but a bit hot, but A/C is being installed so this will not be a problem in the very near future, fans were supplied. let me now review the Spa...it is excellant, clean, well organised, and all 100%..pool,jaccuzi, steam room,everything excellant, the food is very good,and the breakfasts are... more

I stayed here after a wedding. I had heard great things about the Cottons, and whilst the hotel is by no means of a bad standard, I feel it is terribly overpriced for what it actually is. The rooms are nothing special. They are clean and perform all the functions of any room - bed, shower, tv etc. They are slightly on the small side. The breakfast was delicious, over priced but tasty. We recently had a 3 night stay at the Cottons. We were on a 'special deal' from the website, where you book Fri and Sat Dinner B&B, and get Sunday on a B&B basis free! The room was good, the bed large and comfy and the bathroom was very clean with a good shower. The indoor pool was a great bonus, with its sauna and steam room. The only negative points I had was the maid knocking on the door at 8am every morning- despite having the Do Not Disturb sign on the door! Stayed at Cottons during May 2005 whilst working locally in Knutsford. It has a exceptionally good reputation locally and nationally and for all the right reasons. Firstly because it is part of a small national chain, essentially meaning that the cash gets put back into the hotels, but you don't suffer from the monotony of a major global brand. Secondly it is in a fantastic location, a short drive from the M6, 10 mins to Manchester airport and 35 mins into the city. The hotel is undergoing a major refurb, and the new areas are really nice. I had an older, unrefurbished executive room which was a good size, with separate work area, and in a quiet location. The hotel has a good bar where you can eat, and a seperate fine dining restaurant. It is part of Shire Hotels, owned by Thwaites brewery, so good real ale always on tap. Its location is in countryside, so a car is essential. Ideal business or touring base for the North West.

Not sure why the other reviewers rave about this hotel. We stayed one night after a family gathering in the area and found the hotel just "ok". One room was quite nicely-newly- refurbished. The other rather in need of a makeover. The outside looks ok in the dark, but paint peeling in the daytime. Very ordinary room service snacks for 2 adults and 2 kids came to over £90...ridiculous. Incredible hotel. the bed was so comfortable ! after a day of traveling it was a nice surprise ! plus we loved the town of knutsford . We have stayed in many hotels in the uk and this is defenetly the best!!

Could not agree more with the previous review. We stayed for 4 days over the Christmas period. The room was spotless and staff definitely could not do enough for you. The food is superb together with the leisure centre. If you want a weekend break go to this hotel. We hope to go back this Christmas. Karen in particular from reservations is extremely helpful. Keep up the good work, it is very hard to find a hotel with such pleasant staff and surroundings.

Ok, Im may sound over the top. But Ive stayed there many many times. Ive also stayed in many hotels in Britain. This, in my humble opinion, is the best hotel in the UK. Why; the rooms are fresh, modern and always clean, the leisureclub and large swimming pool is fantastic and immaculate, the service cannot be bettered, there is ample car parking. Kids are welcomed, even in the leisureclub, which is a rarity! I dont know what they give the staff in this hotel - but everyone one of them wishes you a good morning/afternoon,... more
