Fawlty Towers
Total disappointment. Dilatory staff. Poor service. Food refused in the bar even though we were prepared to pay room service prices. Bar closed promptly at 2240!! No notice given that bar service was to end. Should have had the courage to complain at the time. Next morning they automatically added a breakfast bill which we had declined in our haste to leave. No atmosphere. Go somewhere else. A beautiful setting spoiled by a lacklustre management.
Very nice place
Stayed overnight at this hotel and overall will be pleased to stay again. Like any place it was not perfect; it's very old and there were some minor problems. The heating was on too high really, especially in the corridors and the decor is beginning to need some work. However, the setting is wonderful, with a main fireplace that will make you stop and stare, and the food was extremely good too. Finally, staff were prompt, discrete and efficient and genuinely happy to help. That makes up for a lot in my book. So overall it was a... more
Happy New Year?
This is not how to welcome in a New Year. The hotel literature and web pages create an impression of something grand and special. Unfortunately this has not been our experience. For the last ten years a group of four have spent New Year together and this has been by far the worst experience to date. From the outside the hotel appears interesting and inviting. However walk into reception and be met with a wall of heat which becomes oppressive in time. Rooms OK but a bit shabby and dusty. Bathroom large and relatively clean.<br... more
Absolutely fantastic!!
My stay at Crabwall Manor was brilliant! The service was superb and all the staff were polite. The food was especially good as myself and my son ate there nearly every morning and evening. i enjoyed my stay very much and will definitely go again! Jeremy Harrow
Excellent Stay
The room was clean, food was excellent and the staff were extremely helpful. Perfect stay and will definately return.
staffing problems
we stayed here for 1 night on 17th november 2007 and it was a shambles from start to finish. we wernt allowed to check in until 3pm and when we did are room was right at the back of the hotel with no view down a creaky corridor. the whole hotel was so hot even though it was bitter outside it was just to hot. we had to wait 30 mins for any staff to serve us at the bar and our evening meal didnt happen at all becuase we found out the chef had walked out as had most of the staff due to some sort of dispute with the new management. there... more
Fabulous!
After reading mixed reviews was slightly worried. However upon arrival I need not have worried. We wanted to treat this break as a Spa break and spend time using the facilities at the hotel (to hopefully lose weight!) oh and a little bit of shopping! The setting - the hotel which sits in quite a few acres is very picturesque. Its very quiet with the occasional squirrel running around. A picture of total relaxation. The pool and gym was far superior to other hotels we had stayed at. (more stylish and very clean) The gym... more
Not too impressed
Having seen the hotel on the website we were really looking forward to our overnight stay. Overall we thought the hotel looked 'tired'. The bedroom carpet was badly stained. The duvet cover had a split down the seam and the valance was ripped on both corners showing the divan. The wallpaper was coming away in places and there were numerous scuff marks on the walls. The staff were really nice and friendly and the food was really lovely. These two positives helped us ignore the negatives but I'm sorry to say for a hotel of this quality... more
