Don't listen to those giving bad reviews of the Villa Ocean View; this hotel is just right. Who needs satellite TV? You're in Sri Lanka for heaven's sake!



The staff are the kindest and most helpful people I have ever come across and I have been to many, many hotels and countries, but these people are the best.



The food is to die for and my husband and I are both vegetarian, so very picky indeed. The beach is not for snorkelling, which was a big disappointment, as the surf is far too ferocious, but great fun.



We upgraded from the beach huts, which were a bit musty smelling and into the main hotel which was fantastic. Speak to the staff privately about trips out, don't go with the rep as it is so very much cheaper to go privately, but do tip the staff, they are paid peanuts and live practically on the breadline. Above all - do go to this hotel!

This was my third time of stay at the hotel, nothing had changed from my first time in May 05.



The food was lovely but the menu was the same the 2nd week as the first, no refurbishments had taken place either, only a slight alteration to the pool and a few new sun beds. The bar now closes at 11.00 instead of 12.00.



The entertainment is exactly the same even on the same nights. It could do with better entertainment and the roof bar being opened more often and satellite TV.



You are probably wondering after my comments why I went 3 times, well the staff are lovely friendly people and I made some good friends, so I went back to see them, also the beach boys who do a far better trip than the hotel or your tour op.



They are all insured, use the same hotels and you can see things the tour op. don’t show you, if you go, ask for Sheldon or Indi there the best.



I also feel relaxed and don’t feel threatened when I wonder out of the hotel the beach way or going to the shops of Wadduwa.



I am also going back again in May if I can find another hotel in Wadduwa, as The Hotel Villa Ocean View is closed for the next 9/12 months (wait for this) for refurbishment.



Yes I am going back to such a beautiful country and see all the friends I have made there, so in my case the hotel really comes in at second place, but it is a nice hotel on the whole.

We reserved 21 rooms to conduct 5day training. With the experience the training participants had we will never come back to Villa Ocean View.



My room only soap and small shampoo packet on the first day only I called the house keeping several times on this and none was delivered.



Another mate of mine had no toilet paper for two days. Two of the staff had rooms with water leaks which was smelly.



Another participant had send a shirt for ironing and it took 24hrs more than promised to return.



We all had to walk to restaurant daily in the rain an there were no umbrellas in the room or reception / service did not want to help the guest. Apparently they had one umbrella at bell desk which they did not want to release.



Food was of no taste and same items were available two consecutive meals.



Only plus point was the beach.
