My daughters and I stayed at the Beach in Negombo for four nights before traveling inland. The hotel is so beautiful with polished concrete floors and the stunning modern decor throughout.
My daughters were particularly impressed with the luxurious bathrooms which had not only enormous baths but also separate rainwater shower rooms. The spa was the best we experienced in Sri Lanka, we were drawn in by the perfumes emanating from within. The staff in the hotel were welcoming and friendly in their stylish black sarongs.
Breakfast was the best meal of the day with so much selection and feeding the local squirrels with crumbs was a lovely experience. We stayed at several hotels in Sri Lanka and the Beach was one of the most memorable.

Just had 14 nights in The Beach Hotel Negombo. I was part of a large group attending a family wedding which was held at the Hotel. The day was 'very special' and the attention to detail provided by the hotel staff in making this a memorable occasion was impeccable. The rooms are spacious with 'huge' beds and luxurious bathrooms - in particular the suites are something to write home about as is the fantastic sea views. There is a spectacular 50 metre infinity pool, a children’s pool and an indoor cooler pool which is very refreshing when the weather is hot.
Hotel food is pretty good, but the menu can get a little boring if you eat there regularly. I would recommend trying a restaurant 2 minutes away called 'Lords' - its run by an English guy and 'You will not be disappointed' with the food served here.... Superb.
For a 'lighter bite' and a friendly pub atmosphere try Rodeo bar - they do great 'fat chips'.
You can get a little harassed by the 'beach sellers' - try not to give them your name as they will shout you at every opportunity. If you want to buy something, check out the prices in the shops first and make sure you barter - a good starting point is 50% of what they are asking on the beach.
This was a great holiday, in a lovely hotel - highly recommended.
