We pre planned and booked the seashells hotel to get married at. The hotel Manager and manageress delt with all the arrangements. No stress no fuss just a wonderful traditional Sri Lankan wedding.
We chose the seashells as it appeared unspoilt and quiet. Not too touristy and not too much fuss.
We would not recommend this hotel for children. For couples, if you’re looking for a relaxed holiday by the sea and take things in your stride then the seashells hotel is the place to go.
The staff are friendly, the food was excellent with several choices for different palates. The service was first class at 3 star prices. The room boys cleaned and changed towels and bed linen daily, including beach towels.
The accommodation was in the throws of being refurbished and behind scheduled for our/guest arrival and repair work was still ongoing when we were there. The was little disruption and at times hardly noticed work being carried out. If anything it added to our entertainment as we watch at leisure the upgrading of the hotel. I'm sure this is finished now thou and would like to return sometime and see the finished results.
If you venture out of the hotel then you will surely see Sri Lanka as it really is. The people are very friendly but can be persistent in trying to sell artefacts or become personal tour guides in exchange for money. Especially on the beach. Its can sometimes be over whelming hard not to ignore the abstract poverty. However this does not happen within the hotel complex.
If you decide to visit the seashells hotel in Neg. Be realistic about your expectations. If you’re looking for 5 star accommodations then this is not the place to go. For 3 star prices you get the real Sri Lankan hospitality in natural unspoilt surroundings.
