Fantastic Christmas Party Night
Just thought I needed to put pen to paper as we British are always keen to complain but never so keen to compliment on good service. We moved our Christmas Party to the Holiday Inn Doncaster after recommendation and a great deal but I was worried as we had previously used another venue in Doncaster for 5 years and they knew what we wanted and what we expected but the staff wanted a change of scenery. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left after breakfast the following day I cannot fault the service from the staff no the... more

Dear Sandra321, I was delighted to read of your enjoyable festive celebrations. Thank you for your kind feedback and I hope to see you back for December 2008. Kind regards, Robert.

staff are terrible
Hotel was average but the staff were so un helpful and had terrible attitude, scruffy looking staff and I would never stay again
Management response from Generalmanager45

I am sorry that you found the hotel team anything less than caring and professional. Customer care is central to my effort and I regret that this was not evident from your experience. Please be assured that I will further the efforts of the whole hotel to ensure that future experiences and more positive. Kind regards, Robert.

Excellent location for business traveller
I stayed at this hotel en route from London to Leeds. The hotel is just off the M18 so it was very easy to find and within 5 minutes of leaving the next morning I was on the A1(M) heading to Leeds. Large room, good bathroom and more of an individual feel than the budget places. 5 minute taxi ride to the city centre, good pool, gym, restaurant and only downside was the absence of a cask beer.
Management response from Generalmanager45

Dear Pawa, Many thanks for your review and I am glad you enjoyed your stay and found our location convenient. We have the advantage of being less than a minute off the A1 yet in peaceful grounds. I will have a look into cask beers as I am sure there must be some local specialities. Kind regards, Robert.

A better than average Holiday Inn
The hotel is less than one minutes drive off A1 Jn 36 but does not suffer from any noise from the road. It's a mix of buildings with the usual 60's/70 style main building plus other older looking outbuildings connected by and underground corridor! I stay in a lot of HI's and found this to be quite pleasant with friendly check in staff. I had room service and again, this was up to scratch. I''ll use it again for sure.
Management response from Generalmanager45

Thank you for your kind review. I am pleased that you found our lay-out and setting to your liking & hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards, Robert.

Food poisoning - beware!
Just a warning to those who may dine in the restaurant, our two children were ill with food poisoning from a dinner we had here. The staff are inexperienced and gave us no support - they did not offer any assistance, medical or otherwise. When nothing was done by the hotel, we registered an official complaint with Holiday Inn Customer Services who have instigated a Public Health investigation. The hotel offered us £7.98 as a refund for the children's meals, which we apparently shouldn't have paid for in the first place. If this is the... more
Management response from Generalmanager45

I am very sorry that your children were unwell following your meal and also that you found our response to your situation poor. Customer care is central to our business and I am genuinely disappointed that we failed to provide you with adequate support. The independent investigation into the cause of your children's illness failed to identify any cause. We will however look to learn from your experience so that we provide a more empathetic response in any similar situation. Kind regards Robert Ford General Manager

Fantastic
Great family room - real bunk beds for 2 kids, not sharing a ridiculous sofa. Staff extremely helpful - found us a great rate, always friendly, even took in post for me! Good swimming pool. It is far enough from the motorway that you hear no noise - its in large grounds (or rather a large car park).

Thanks for the review. I'm very pleased that you enjoyed your stay.

Good location for motoroway links
One night stay in early January. Nice friendly check-in staff and the room was ok...nothing special. Buffet breakfast was nice, with lots of choice (Fried or continental) The rooms are very small and contain: bed, wardrobe, desk and small TV with some minor cable channels. Bathroom was fairly clean, shower over bath although was lacking water pressure. Great location for the motoroway links, you may want to leave early in the morning as it is really difficult to exit the hotel during the rush-hour. Parking is free,... more
Good Hotel
I stayed at this hotel in April 2006 whilst away on business. I love staying in holiday inn hotels as you always know what your going to get. Spotlessly clean rooms with modern furniture, good food and room service. The staff are extremely helpful and there is even a small gym and swimming pool at your disposal so what more do you want! In terms of location the hotel is situated just off A1 (M) about a 10 minute drive from Doncaster town centre and 15 minutes from Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield and it has a good sized... more
Alright hotel
We don't often stay in hotels in Doncaster as my husband's family live there. We couldn't stay with them this time, so I booked the Holiday Inn at the last minute for £77 for 1 night Saturday stay in an executive room, B&B. The reservation lady told me that there was only 1 double room left, and quoted a price. We arrived at teatime, and noticed that there were 2 weddings on at the hotel on that day. We went up to the room, which was at the front of the hotel, and were pleased with it - it was spotlessly clean and the bed was... more
Clean & Friendly
I have stayed here on a few occasions and cannot find a fault with the staff or the service that you receive. Even during the recent refurbishment the staff were able to keep up their high standards. The reception staff always welcome you with a smile and are very efficient in dealing with any problems that occur. Rooms are cleaned to a very good standard and if you want extra tea, coffee or biscuits just have a word with the domestic staff or leave a note and they will leave you extra. Bar and restaurant staff will make you... more
