Spot the good bits
Having requested a quiet room, I was placed in the front of the hotel near the lift and consequently subjected to a barrage of noise mainly from the street cleaning, car alarms, noisy revellers, banging room doors resulting in an appalling nights sleep. The room service took 45 minutes for a sandwich that was lacklustre. The bar area was full of smokers and service in the bar area was poor. I chose this hotel for its central location - which by dint of geography passes the test, but on all counts is certainly not worth the high price. And... more
Did the other reviewers stay at a different hotel?
Just back from a weekend stay at the Ramada Leicester - was fearing the worst after reading some of the doom laden messages on here - I neednt have worried - have to say the Hotel, the room, the staff and the breakfast were all first class Its currently undergoing a major refurb - and if the overall standard is equal to the room I stayed in, then its good news for the admirers of Grand Victorian Hotels such as this - great location too, slap bang in city centre adjacent to bars/restaurants etc - and with huge complimentary car park<br... more
Eveything about a hotel you would want to avoid
I stayed 28th and 29th June for work, checking out on the 30th. The majority of the other guests were also there on business. I stayed in a Sky Suite - a series of recently renovated rooms in the attic on the 5th Floor. The room looked really nice, though maybe a bit dark. On closer inspection though it had obviously not been very well renovated - chipped pain on the windows, couple of old fittings, lights not working etc. Then the trouser press fell off the wall, I put it back up, it fell off again. This happened twice more before... more
Faulty Towers
In a word Nightare! We booked to stay at the hotel with a further 5 colleagues last week for 5 nights. On the first evening when we booked in they could not find a booking for one of my colleagues. On the secound evening we decided to try the Restaurant, cutlery still had egg on from breakfast, hair in butter, 45 mins for food to arrive and no apology! On the third evening we received phone calls at 2am from a large group of teenagers who were staying at hotel who simply run riot and the staff did not bat a eye lid. We never had... more
Appalling customer service and shabby rooms
I stayed here for 1 night with my wife to attend an award ceremony nearby for tourism. The Ramada does everything wrong when it comes to tourism. Poor service, dreadful rooms and awful complaints procedure. I complained verbally and in writing when I got home but the staff don't care.
Dire
Have stayed here before some years ago, and it was fairly OK, but boy has this place declined. £123 for a room you couldn't swing a cat in, with furniture piled up against the tiny window so the light was obscured, with no double glazing so I got lots of street noise, with no desk so I couldn't work. I ask for a new room. There isn't one. I'm not happy, I want to speak to the Duty Manager. They find another room. A fax is being sent for me, can they deliver it to my room? No. Can they let me know when it comes? No. Eventually I go down... more
Not up to scratch!
Stayed here for one night in April- for £80 a night felt slightly ripped off! Have stayed in Ramada hotels before which have been lovely- this was erm...ok. Very small room and an even smaller bathroom. It was a cold and dreary room, depressing and in need of updating. Corridors reminded me of pub corridors for some reason. Reception was nice but the staff were grumpy and unhelpful. All in all would rather stay in a Travel Lodge!!!!!!!!
Poor rooms and not value for money
I stayed here for a graduation ball. The event was good, the conference staff are excellent. The bedrooms however are small and pokey, very thin walls and not worth the high cost. The breakfast was nice but I would never stay in this hotel again
Avoid, noisy and cold!
Very noisy, cold and unpleasant staff. The windows are single glazed and in poor working order. I stayed here on two occasions, both times had trouble with the windows - they don't close properly. The hotel is on a major shopping street with truck, taxi and bus noise. At night the noise is even worse as there are lots of bars and clubs around this part of Leicester. The staff are really grumpy. Wireless internet only works in lobby and to dial up to a FREE number costs you quite a bit. On the positive side, the breakfast just about meets... more
Worst night sleep in a long time.
Old and tired hotel, seems to be partially refurbished. Arrived to find many small things not working correctly. Lift out of order, Refurbishment of room incomplete, 1" gap under door to corridor, TV channels broken, so only 4 channels available, the list goes on. Room was stifling hot, only way to cool down was to have window open which meant listening to a refrigeration unit kicking in and shutting down every 60sec. Had to change rooms and endure street noise/pubs turning out to try and get some sleep. May be ok in winter but in... more
