Great little location - all you need and great hotel. This is a short drive from the airport - around 30mins (take the tunnel through the mountain and pay the toll - takes ages to go up round the mountain - save this for once you are settled in the hotel!). There is no... more

This hotel has been totally renovated in 2005 so you should ignore any reviews before then. The seafront road has just been "pedestrianised" so only the little trams, mopeds, and bikes are allowed along with taxis and residents cars. I just spent a week on my own and... more

We found this hotel by chance, booking the day before after contacting the sister hotel in Palma. We could not have been more lucky. The hotel is very modern, full of trendy things like colourful artwork and weird & wonderful light fittings but it works. It overlooks a... more

My friend and I were unlucky enough to end up in Magaluf on an allocation on arrival holiday (we're in our late 20's so not too awful!). So we hired a car for a few days and ended up in Port Soller. Esplendido was the first hotel we walked into to see if they had any rooms... more

Hotel Esplendido is a very basic hotel but what a view! The view makes up for any shortcomings the hotel might have. However, we have stayed there twice, and have every intention of going again. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable, but rather basic. However, make... more

Loved Esplendido
We had 10 days at the Esplendido, room with seaview and balcony. It was a great stay; a modern hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were well proportioned and comfortable, with all mod cons. Balcony was a reasonable size and overlooked the tram to Soller and the beautiful bay. Hotel has a CD and DVD library and internet access if you want them. Room service is limited and pricey but the food was faultless. The hotel itself is located perfectly for the beach, bay, restaurants and tavernas. Not a place for wild nights out but great for a relaxing break
The Esplendido is totally splendid
I arrived here after a few nights in Palma with my partner and a friend. We are all in our mid - late 30's with no children. I must admit that after reading some of the reviews, regarding the number of children at the hotel, I had a few concerns however within minutes of entering this haven of peace the concerns floated away. The hotel's Scandavian design and large chill out areas quickly ease you into a contented languorous state. The place is dripping in sofas and chairs that are just begging you to sink into them and flick through a glossy mag or daily newspaper chosen from the well stocked complimentary selection. Stunning views of the bay can be enjoyed from every corner of the hotel; including a cleverly positioned little window in the sauna. The staff are young, good looking, efficient and very warm and helpful. There is a small private beach area for hotel guests about 30 seconds from the hotel entrance offering a quiet and charming spot for a dip in the sea. We enjoyed room service several times as the view from our room terrace and a CD playing (a good selection is offered by the hotel) on the surround speakers made for a perfect meal. It is not easy to drag yourself away from the beach and the hotel however if you do manage to do so I recomend the tram to Soller and a cab (7 euros - less than 10 mins) to the lighthouse at the entrance to the port for lunch at Es Faro - the view is breathtaking - walk back downhill to take in more splendid views (this takes about 30 mins and is very easy) before returning to the Esplendido for another beautiful sunset.
Great service, lovely hotel
Stayed at the Esplendido for 10 days returning home on the 1st August. The Hotel was perfect for us. The decor is minimalist and a little quirky, very light and clean with some interesting artwork, our room was a large garden facing (this really means facing a wall covered in climbing plants) room. It really was very large and extremely comfortable, particularly the bed, the view wasn't the best but this wasn't really a problem the view from the pool bar in the evening is spactacular and this is where we spent the time before dressing for dinner. Our children stayed in a sea view standard room, the view here was lovely, tough being children they rarely opened the curtains as the light stopped them watching DVDs (the hotel has a huge DVD library free of charge and the children 13yrs and 14 yrs, spent a number of evenings in their room with room service watching films) this room was about half the size of our room but was very comfortable with the same wonderful bed. We spent much of our time on the beach just across the promenade from the hotel, where there are loungers, parasols and towels provided. A drink and food service is available on the beach after 11 am every day. The beach is a little stoney but the sea is lovely to swim in and safe for children as it is inside the natural harbour at Port Soller. Food in the restaurant is excellent, we ate there most lunchtimes and one evening (a little disappointed that the evening menu was the same as the lunch menu) the food never disappointed. Breakfast is a delight, with a fantastic choice including some fantastic breads and the eggs are amazing (I know this sounds a little strange but if you go, try them, only then will you know what I mean). In general the staff were excellent giving great service. They dealt with our bookings for horse riding, sailing and many restaurants (The best of which, by a country mile, is S'Atic, just a short walk round the harbour, don't let anyone try to persuade you otherwise). Though the hotel is quite large it manages to maintain a very intimate atmosphere. We stayed in La Residencia a couple of weeks before going back to Mallorca to stay at the Esplendido and in my opinion the Esplendido is 95% as good as la Residencia at about 25% of the cost (and that is everything not just the room rate).
superb
Best service that I had in my life. beautiful hotel
Hip, chic, splendid ! Highly Recommended
We planned a bank holiday weekend in mallorca and stayed only 1 night here (wished we could stay more!) Soller is a nice seaside village with practically nothing fancy but Esplendido! We booked a room with a seaview terrace and it's definitely worth to spend a little bit more to perfectly enjoy the hotel. hotel has a very cosy vintage chic look and everythign was simply perfect! room had the minimum details which makes it very peaceful and restful. the view from the room is amazing. you can borrow from hotels' a huge collection of DVD's and CD's and together with a nice spanish wine you won't leave the room! staff very very nice as well and they are all young and beautiful. you can get some walking sticks and go for hiking at one of the best walking trails of europe. so it is just perfect. We will definitely make it a ritual - spring weekend in Splendido if not longer.
Recommend but probably best not in peak season
Spend just one night here in early August as we wanted a place on the sea having spent a couple of nights in Soller. Hotel is great fun - cool, sleek, stylish and the views are superb. Waiters all charming and helpful and predictably good looking. Overall there is a very nice atmosphere to the place. Our room was simple but I liked the bathroom a lot and the view was magical. Breakfast was wonderful - huge selection - and as we were very early, we had the place to ourselves and a table on the terrace. Did not eat other than lunch by pool on first day. Food seemed on the expensive side but goodish. My one reservation about the hotel is not really its fault at all but it is the outside space at the back. They have done everything possible to make it work - lots of sunbeds, two separate pools, lovely planting. And the views are magic. But for all this, it feels very crowded (albeit we were there in peak season). There are quite a few young kids with very little space for them to play in, so they are rather squashed around the pool. If you are a romantic couple, you won't find peace there so I strongly recommend the rooms with terraces so you can get away from the crowds. I did not find sitting by the pools that relaxing. We did not however think there was a big problem with children in the adults pool - when we were there it was relatively peaceful but it is a very small pool so not really for serious swimming anyhow. I would happily take teenage kids to Esplendido but not my little ones. Having high chairs does not make a place great for kids. The beach out the front is pleasant enough though I think the hotel could smarted up its area quite easily. Looked slightly scrappy. Puerto de Soller overall is very pretty and wonderful in the early evening and morning. A few grotty bits but nothing offensive. Highlights for us was a meal at El Faro and hiring a boat at Soller Nautico (on the beach) and spending a morning exploring the coastline. Overall I would recommend Esplendido for 3 nights max ideally away from peak season and only longer if you have a car and use it as a base.
Excellent Honeymoon
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It`s not cheap but has that air of quality. Well mannered staff.
Great family hotel
We have just returned from the Hotel Esplendido having spent 14 nights there. There were many positives and not many negatives. The hotel is very clean, well run and modern. The communal areas are lovely and it is a very bright, spacious hotel. The hotel bar area is very good and the food is excellent. We ate at the hotel many times and the restaurant was great. The food was lovely, prices were as expected and the staff were very helpful and attentive. The service was very good. We ate outside on the small terrace which was good but can be very hot until after 8.30pm when the sun goes down. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. Room service food is excellent and the service was efficient. The hotel is in a fantastic position and we had a big sea view terrace. However, as the rooms can accommodate 4, they are on the small side. One negative would be the total lack of storage space. I am not a light traveller and one cupboard and 2 drawers was simply not enough for 4 people. In general the staff were very helpful, apart really from on the reception desk where the results were mixed! On arrival we were told where our room was but there would be no help with the baggage as no-one was available. I doubt this would happen at most up market hotels. The one downside to the hotel was the position of the pool. This is in shade until around 3pm everyday from most of the beds round it but the beach is very close. The one in front of the hotel is not great but there is a lovely bay with beds to rent within a 3/4 minute walk. There are many restaurants around and we ate at Agapunto which was good and had a fantastic meal at Bens D'Aval which is around 20 minutes away. Great food and fab location. I would definately recommend this hotel especially to those with children who want an "easy" holiday without any hassle. The sister hotel, Portixol, is also very good.
"excellainte"

Loved Esplendido
We stayed ther for 4 nights and it was so brilliant. Esplendido is a design hotel and every part of it match. The atmosphere is very familiar and casual We had a room overlooking the sea with a big teraace. The staff is so sweet and helpful, the restaurant is outstanding and it seems to be a very child friendly hotel. We will definitely return to Esplendido.
