Massenet Hotel

Stayed in hotel mid-September. Great location, 1/2 block fromPromenade des Anglais and 1/2 block from main pedestrians only street. Cost 10 Euros to park car for day in their garage.(other parking garages 32 euros per day). First room at 105 euros was clean but could use some maintenance. Left luggage at hotel and took train trip to Italy. When we returned for one night , to catch plane for home, they put us up in smaller room for 85 euros where everything worked. Just returned from a 4 night stay in July. Great value for money hotel in an excelent quiet location. Rooms absolutly spotless with very efficient air conditioning. Breakfast very good but basic.Staff very friendly and helpfull. I noticed that only a few rooms have a balcony (South facing)which are charged extra. Would fancy one of them next time.

We selected the Massenet in Nice over other more highly rated and more expensive hotels based on TripAdviser reviews. It didn't disappoint. It is reasonably basic but well situated (we sought a quiet but central hotel... not easy in Nice) and our Superior Room was very good value for money, clean and comfortable. At half the price of other hotel stays in France we were happy with the standard. The staff were polite and obliging.

Having read the good comments of others about this hotel , I'd thought I'll book this place and check it out, as I got a reasonable price for it. Me and my mother stayed here for 3 nights. It's a lovely charming hotel, close to the Sea front, the shops, the tourist information centre and the bus stop to the airport.The hotel is approximately 15 min walk to the train station. My husband and I stayed here a couple of weeks ago during Carnivale and simply loved it for it's clean, comfortable rooms and especially it's fantastic location. Close to restaurants and a stones throw from the beach, it's the ideal location on a really quiet street. Our room was at the back of the hotel so there was no view but the sun flooded in each morning. There was no bar which we missed on the first night but there were bars and restaurants at the end of the road (1 minutes walk away). And yes, they speak great English. Even... more

Like most of the other reviews which have been great, that was our main reason for booking, and we were not disappointed. The location just off Promenade des Anglais meant everything was close to hand. We preferred to eat in the Old town at night, found the restaurants there were more varied. But only took 5-10 minutes to walk. Our last night we ate at a superb place, seemed petty new. Called L'Atelier, on the Rue Barillerie, behind Cours Saleya. I had the 20 euro 3 course menu and it was delicious. Will certainly recommend both hotel... more

Just back from 2 nights at Masesenet. 1st visit to Nice Booked it after reading reviews on this site. Great value. Room very clean. Our room had plenty of room (301) Bathroom and toilet spotless. Staff very friendly and helpful. Kindly looked up weather on internet for us (depressing) kept luggage on last day(no problem). Gave us map, made sure we had phone number in case we got lost! My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the Massenet.Very pleasant and helpful staff who spoke excellent English. Quiet position but close to many restaurants, bars, promenade and centre. 3 min walk to catch airport bus. Get off at Congres or stop after when arriving. Lift.Room and bathroom both newly refurbished.Fridge and free safe.Breakfast croissants,buns etc plus juice and hot drinks -adequate.Recommended as very good value for money.

Having stayed in Nice last year in a four star hotel that was a bit disappointing, thought I would downgrade to 3 star this year - if it's going to be naff I might aswell pay less! However, this hotel has really changed my mind. The hotel is on a side street that runs off the Promenade de Anglais and on to Rue de Paris. Really couldn't believe the fab location! Extremely quiet on a night. The staff were unbelievably polite and helpful. Room wasn't huge - although others looked bigger, but the bathroom was brand new and sparkled!... more

The 6 of us stayed at the hotel massenet for 3 days at the end of august 2005. I spent weeks and weeks on the internet (on all the holiday review forums, checking maps, tourist books/guides...you name it) to find the right place to stay.
