De Flore Hotel

Just back from a week at De Flore. Certainly a good central location. If you peered out of the window to the left you could see the sea -only 1 minute walk away. Breakfast was adequate - continental style. Though some fruit would have been nice. Talking about fruit, there is a lovely wee supermarket opposite where we bought a 1.5ltr bottle of water each day for 40c and there was plenty of room in the fridge to store it and any fruit that you wish to buy. Stayed here for 3 nights based on previous reviews. Great location, very centrally located and nice hotel. Our room was "superior" and was quite basic (hotel charges 160euro for room for 2 adults, which it isn't worth)- would've been interesting to see what a standard room was. Experience was dampened by the fact that despite the room rate being booked through website as per room per night at 105euro (which didn't include breakfast), they charged us an extra 15euro per night for the second adult. Booked this hotel having checked reviews on web and was very impressed. Spent wkend here with my sister, caught the no. 98 bus from airport 1euro40 each (this ticket covers you on bus/tram all day) and jumped off at promenade de anglais. lovely 5 min stroll to hotel, meet at reception by an extremely helpful staff member who checked us in then gave us maps and went on to highlight our map with the hotel location and other points of interest. We chose to stay in their superior rooms, with balcony and it was well worth it. Hotel idealy situated beside the pedestrian zone and near the Promenade des Anglais. We had some lovely meals in the restaurants nearby and loved Nice. It is the only city thay has the airport so close by, and the no 98 bus takes you into the centre quicly and cheaply. Lots of art galleries, the old town market and the sea make for a perfect weekend break.

Fantastic little hotel, ideally located near the Promenade de Anglaise. 10 minutes on the airport bus for 1.40 euros(lots cheaper than a taxi) to a stop on the promenade, 5 mins walk to the hotel. Had read some of the reviews that said the staff were unhelpful and rude but this could not be further from the truth. Stayed here for a couple of nights over a long weekend. Situated in the central shopping area of Nice - 2 minutes' walk to the Prom des Anglaise so very convenient for strolling about and exploring. Breakfast was included in our room rate but was a bit basic - if it wasn't included in the price then I wouldn't bother. Room was a decent size - on the first floor at the front but double glazed so no noise from the street (which was pretty quiet anyway). Air con worked. Ever heard of the 'poo rich man'? The 'black white night'? This is called an oxymoron which is exactly like this hotel. In terms of location, it is IDEAL. Right in the centre of everything you wanna do in Nice. Beaches, flower market, the famous Negresco hotel (must see) and all the shops and casinos. In terms of the room, it was quite nice, big bed, nice bathroom and nice room colours. Even the problem that you can easily hear what the people in the next room are saying is not a big deal.
