I stayed at the Alton Towers Splash...
9 / 10
Feb 2007, Miss L Ash

I stayed at the Alton Towers Splash Landings Hotel on the 19th Feb for 1 Night.
It cost £168 for 2 adults and 2 children including free entry to the Towers and Treats event, free use of the Alton Towers rides which were open.
There were only a few available due to the park not being fully open yet and it also included a 2 day waterpark pass for all of us and a breakfast buffet which I felt was good value for all of that.
Arrival - We arrived 3 hours before check in officially opened, but our room was ready so they allowed us to check in early. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us clear directions as to how to get to our room.
The lobby area is nice and spacious and overlooks the Cariba Creek Waterpark and everything is clearly signposted. There is a small shop where you can buy snacks and newspapers also.
Rooms - The Rooms have a Caribbean theme with a large double bed and bunk beds, there is plenty of space, not too much storage space but enough space for those on short breaks.
There is a television, tea and coffee making facilities, spare plug socket, hair dryer and loads of free imperial leather goodies in the bathroom which they encourage you to take home.
The bathroom is a little on the small side, but does have everything you need, with a large bath, shower, toilet and sink area with lots of room to place your toothbrush, hairbrushes and make up etc.
The carpet has a beach theme and runs throughout the whole hotel and features starfish, crabs and shells.
Food - We ate in the buffet restaurant Flambos Feast, it costs £6.95 per child and £18.95 for an adult.
There is plenty of choice and the price is fair if you think how much you pay for a three course meal which of course you can have and also help yourself to more if you’re still hungry. It doesn’t include drinks but staff will provide you with a drinks menu and bring your drinks over to you.
There is also a large bar area by reception which also offers snacks and pizzas in the evening. Evening entertainment is also held here.
Overall - I was very pleased with this hotel, it offers good value for money and is very clean and spacious. I can imagine that it could probably be very busy in the peak months, but if looking for somewhere to go in the off peak season then would definitely recommend.
I shall certainly be returning in the future.

We stayed here for my birthday and...
8 / 10
Feb 2007, Mrs J K Chahal

We stayed here for my birthday and the park had just opened for the season.
Our son was only 6 months old and have to say although we packed the house for a 2 night stay we probably did not need too. The family facilities even had sterilisers in!
The rooms were colourful; the bathroom although basic has some fab bath goodies in.
The rooms were clean which with a little one is all important.
The restaurants would be my main area of criticism they did not offer any baby jars, we had a DB&B package and have to say, that if we had not, probably suggest that meals would have been quite pricey for what they were.
I can imagine for 5 years old upwards kids were probably well catered for in the meals but for adults not so great. Have to say main problem with the restaurant is the service...it was so slow!
The waterpark is fab, brilliant for kids of all ages. The park itself is so close by and amazingly really well caters for little ones (some of the shops even sell nappies).
The park had only just opened and I would say is the best time to take a little one as the queues were really short!
The parent passes available were also great as these allowed us to both go on rides (one queued got a stamp went on the ride, the next parent then took the pass and got fast tracked to the foot of the queue!).
We has such a good time, which was a little unexpected. We even went back for the Santa’s sleepover in December which was great fun (although the park was closed) they had a show, a trip to see Santa, some real reindeers and lots of family entertainment.
It is a pricey place to stay however it is great fun and if you can get a good deal is well worth it.
Our little one has been twice and always seems to really enjoy (and he's now only 18 months!)
