It was absolotly shocking!!! the room was disgusting (apparently newly refurbished - yeah right!) and paying for a deluxe room, you certainly expect the standards raised - not here however!!! The heating was on full blast ALL NIGHT and utterly unbearable and uncontrollable! The bed was shockingly loud, to the extent it woke you up everytime you rolled over! We woke up to the ceiling leaking on us! It was just a bad experience and i wouldnt ever reccommend it to anyone!

Don't Bother
The whole hotel was cold throughtout and in desperate need of updating.
Our Room was Freezing with a host of excuses (forgot to turn on heating, heating on a timer, boiler broken etc..)
No TV picture (well not one you would want to watch!)
When we booked it was pay on departure, money was taken 2 Hrs before we checked in
Staff very un-professional on reception when we commented on the above.
We left and checked into the Shrewsbury Hotel which was fantastic.

I recently stayed at this hotel. On arrival I found, as others have, an unattended reception. I rang the bell and still no one arrived. 5 minutes passed before eventually a gentleman sitting in the reception reading a paper got up and attended the reception.
The room was clean and the bed comfortable but the room smelt very strongly of perfume and so I had to open all the windows for several hours to clear it.
I know it is an old coaching inn but the floors creaked badly and it almost felt as though it wouldn't take much to go through the floors and the paper on the ceiling was peeling off.
The lift is very old and is covered in carpet which smells of stale smoke. The hotel although clean is old, shabby, the carpets are threadbare and in some places have black tape covering patches. The place looks as though it hasn't been painted for years and is in desperate need of refurbishment. I had a disturbed night as the occupants above me were walking around their room until almost 1am.
Breakfast was ok although the eggs were over cooked and the sausage only just cooked.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and certainly will not stay here again

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights whilst on business. From the front the hotel looked oldie worldly which was pleasant. Parking in the hotel car park was a nightmare and this was the beginning of worse to come.
The reception and bar area inside looked nice enough, but there was no staff at the main reception for a good ten minutes. After checking in I went to the room, and what I disgrace it was.
There was hair and dust all over the floor and in the bathroom, the curtains has splattered blood over them, no air conditioning, dirty bath and tiles.
I asked to be moved to another room but was told this was not possible.
The hotel is really old and you can appreciate some noise from squeaky floor boards - but during the night the floorboards outside the room on the landing never stopped!
For the first night I ate in the hotel, paid for everything cash and bought drinks from the bar. The only good thing was the restaurant staff and the food - although I ordered vegetarian sausage breakfast - which was on the menu but they didn't have any.
It wasn't until checking out I was given a bill for the meal and drinks!
I refused to pay and was ready to stand my ground - but the receptionist shrugged it off.
The last laugh was on them when I tried to leave quickly, got to the tiny car park, packed with cars of delegates using the hotels conference room - and I was blocked in.
I went back to reception, and again waited for 5 minutes till someone came to the desk. I asked for a call to be put out to the person who had blocked me in to move their car and was told that they didn't keep details of cars on site.
It then took me a further 40 minutes to find the person whose car it was before I could be on my way.
Beware - I would not ever, ever use this hotel again.
