Hotel was small yes, but immaculately clean, modern and more than adequate for our three night break. Good choice of breakfasts at the hotell, all very nice.
It was all very well organised by the airline, and all of the tours, which were pre bookable or could be booked when you get there, picked you up from and dropped you off at the hotel again. The times of the tour fitted in with the scheduled flights. Highly recommended is the blue lagoon express, which takes you to Icelands famous blue lagoon en route to the airport, and drops you off in time for your flight home.
All of the people there are the friendliest bunch of people I have ever met.
BEWARE though, and this is no reflection on the hotel or people. I had heard everyone say how expensive Iceland was expensive, and I expected this but not to the degree of £28 for a small plain margerita pizza from Pizza Hut. Absolutely everything was absurdly dear. My advice is to make the most of the hearty breakfast in the hotel, which was excellent value for money considering how much food you can have. In fact the whole holiday was a bargain, £189 each for 3 nights the weekend before Christmas for hotel and flights. I know now why, cos everything else was so expensive there! We lived in the Subway opposite the hotel, where we could get 2 sub of the days for a mere £13. And yes that was the cheapest we could get!
We did the Northern Lights tour at £75 a head and didn't see any northern lights, but I guess you can't blame anyone for that! We also did the infamous golden circle tour, which was excellent and worth the cost (doesn't work put any cheaper to book them in advance really, just depends on the exchange rte of course) The video is of one of many active hot springs(a geysir in our terms, but geysir is a name taken from Icelandic of one of the thermal hot springs) on the golden circle.
Also, I was thinking the weather wasn't too bad as it was, in degrees, warmer than here, but that wasn't accounting for the crazy wind! It's not called Iceland for no reason (silly me) so beware of the cold. Our flight in was closed due to 186km p/h winds, and if you want a cheap woolly hat you'll be looking about £15 when you get there! Oh for a Primark...
Overall though, definitely worth going.
