Nov 2010, Gordon Ramsay would have a field day!!!

I can honestly say that the overall cleanliness was of a good standard. Room basic of travel lodge standard but very clean & comfortable nevertheless..The food however..mmmmm, well that was another matter! New potatoes were served obviously not been prepared as they were... more

The best aspect of this hotel was the staff. Everyone I came into contact with was extremely helpful and friendly. It was easy to reach from the train station - about 5 minutes walk along dedicated cycleway/walkways, and simple to find with the receptionist's directions.... more

Needs a good dust
I stayed here for 3 nights with two work colleagues for a conference. As previous posts, the rooms are OK, but needed a really good clean: the bulbs in the table lamps were thick with dust, the telephone handset was dusty, and the skirting boards were thick with it too. The shower was excellent and powerful. When we booked in the room slip stated accomodation only, and the reception staff confirmed this. A continental breakfast (and that's all they offered) was £10.50. There is a Sainsbury and Asda that both do breakfasts of good standard, and a third of the price of the continental. On depature, the bill stated it was B&B, and despite my protests and proof we had been advised different, he would not offer any discount, saying he has no authority to change the rate. I'll be returning to Telford next year for the same conference, but will be booking the Holiday Inn, as delegates who stayed there were very happy.
Sort the mess out
For a hotel that is on this price range the service and cleanliness is absolutely shocking. If you stay in the hotel for one or two days you will not notice much but if you stay longer be prepared to be shocked. I have spilled some lotion on the bed cloth and amazed to find that the bed cloth was same for 6 days! Look carefully and you will see that the carpet will also be in same state. Ever been on a lift with so much stains and when you are having breakfast look at the plates and glasses. They are absolutely disgusting. The service is below par and I would expect much more when I am paying this amount of money. I think they are just taking advantage as lot of people like myself needs to stay in that area for work purpose. Somebody should really contact the council and give them a warning. It is far the worse hotel I have been since travelling around Europe for work.
COLD BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Ok so it was not the worse hotel it was clean with a nice foyer / bar area for the money , and a brilliant car park but there is nothing worse that being freezing cold at the beginning, during and end of the night. The rooms were also a little dated.
Could do better
Stayed here for one night on business in April 2006. The room I had was fine - clean and adequate. They have wireless internet activity but believe in seriously overcharging - £17 per 24 hour period. Residential internet access is about £14 per month!! Needless to say I did not purchase this. I had the cajun chicken in the bar that night and thought it was delicious. Breakfast the next day was disappointing and I felt 'all' the croissants were stale. I mentioned to a waitress that y croissant was not fresh which she replaced with a heated one but did not replace all the others!! Similar to another review the breakfast staff tended to congregate and chat amongst themselves. It was okay...but they could do better.
The full story
For four nights a week, this hotel has been my home from Oct 2005 till Feb 2006. Don't eat here. Room service is just as poor as the Restaurant. Breakfast improved in Jan 06 slightly, the Restaurant may have also but I wasn't taking any more chances. Rooms are a fair size. The beds are uncomfortable - even those in the premier rooms. Some rooms don't have duvets, they still have 2 sheets and heavy blankets. The rooms are not always up to standard - sometimes a bottle of water is waiting in the room and sometimes not. The same goes for the special items in the premier rooms. (Luxury shampoo, cream & body wash. Pringles, jelly babies and towel robe.) The bathrooms are not always clean - often find black curly hair. The basin plugholes smell terribly. The staff are friendly enough, some not as friendly and sometimes forgetful. The 'breakfast lady' is brilliant, although it took her almost 3 months to remember my name. Check your receipt before leaving - mistakes happen and it’s best to have them corrected before signing.
excellent
While staying at the hotel, I found the rooms and service in the restaurant excellent. The waiting staff in the restaurant and bar were excellent especially as the hotel was fairly busy. service was exceptional as was the food. I thouroghly enjoyed my stay at Park Inn and would reccommend it to anyone planning on visiting Telford.
Don't eat here
Stayed here for one night on business in early November 2005. Rooms and facilities were ok but the restaurant was pityfull. As part of a group of 12 people - 4 of us had reason to complain about our meal. I returned my steak twice and the 3rd one was still wrong.....but I was really hungry by then. A discount was negotiated. The restaurant staff were not much use either. They seem to congregate round a little corner and chat amongst themselves. In need of stronger management in my opinion. I would avoid here in future.
Fine but uninspiring...
I stayed here several times on business in 2004. If you have ever stayed in a Moathouse then you will know what to expect and can stop reading here. It's a Moathouse, nuff said. For those who haven't, it is part of a large chain of reasonable hotels. I don't really have any complaints about this hotel, it's clean, it's tidy, the rooms are fine and the staff are pleasent enough. It's just very ordinary and uninspiring. The only thing I really wasn't impressed with was the pool. It was TINY! It is effectively a splashpool, swimming is not really possible. I think they should have used the space to put in a nice spa pool or something. However, it's fine for kids I guess (though quite deep from what I remember) but then once a few kids are in it, it's full!
Vist August 23rd 2004
This hotel has excellant facilities and the rooms are good...but the service in the restuarent is appalling. The staff(all seem very young) are utterly indifferent and you practically have to stand up to get any attention from them, since they seem to spend all their time chatting amongsy themselves The food was good...although the dinner menu is limited and they serve good quantities. At breakfast there is the same problem..also I asked for coffee and got tea. Good facilities, however I would recommend you eat elsewhere. ---------------
Large chain hotel with personal service and good food
We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights in order to visit the nearby Ironbridge Gorge. The hotel is large, with a good fitness centre, standing in large grounds with a controlled access car park. Nearby is the somewhat sterile Telford centre where absolutely nobody lives. Whilst not new or air-conditioned, the rooms were comfortable and well serviced. Our bathroom was very clean but would have benefited from refurbishment. The staff were friendly and efficient and the restaurant food was surprisingly good within limits of choice. At the prices offered this hotel forms a good base
