We spent 3 nights at the Ramada Birmingham over the bank holiday. We were on a dance weekend.
The food was very good. The staff are on the whole very friendly, especially Tony in the bar. This is a large sprawling hotel. It is set in lovely grounds, but the hotel itself is rather dated and rather a mish mash, warren like place.
Originally we were given a room which was motel style away from the main building across the car park, we asked to move due to a leg injury which would make walking across the car park in the rain for meals, dance etc would be too much.
However the room we were given in the hotel itself was smaller and although quite bright, was a long way from reception and restaurant and up a lot of stairs as the lift only went part way.
For some strange reason they had the heating on even though it was the end of May and it was exceptionally hot and as we turned off the radiator in our bedroom (we were unable to turn off the bathroom). The radiator made a terrible noise all night and the pipes were banging as well. We couldn't leave the bedroom window open as there was a generator below the window.
The restaurant and bar area were nice and the only thing wrong was on the last night when a large family with small children were in there running riot, running around and screaming and shouting until after it closed at midnight. It would have been nice if the staff had intervened and asked them to be quieter and stop the children running around the bar area. As it was we got abuse from the family because we were looking at them, hate to think what they would have done if we had actually requested peace.
This aside it is quiet a nice hotel but is not up to the standard of the Ramada down the road at Kidderminster which is a lovely hotel.
