Hotel nightmare
from A TripAdvisor Member
Stay a way from this hotel just a nightmare verything you read about this hotel fiction. What could go wrong did. Just for starter you need to walk at least half mile with luggage to hotel we call hotel for someone to possibly have some one to pick us up it bit it was impossible for them no staff. We finally arrive to hotel we went to our room it was a match box plus no bathtub just shower which has no door for the water not to get allover. This was not a four star hotel which we paid $220.00 a night for 4 days and mind you we took a...

4 nights in Venice
from A TripAdvisor Member
Booked our 2 twin rooms through hotels.com for less than $70/night (for Venice, even in winter that's a great deal!). We weren't expecting much but the hotel turned out to be very beautifully decorated and nicely/conveniently situated. The room we stayed in was in the 2nd floor, the tiny elevator was working but we preferred to walk up. I must say that our rooms were both spotlessly clean! Breakfast was continental but filling. We actually woke up every morning to the smell of croissants being baked (heated?), not a bad way to start the...

What a beautiful hotel
from A TripAdvisor Member
My fiance and I have just returned from our trip in Venice and were delighted with the high standards this hotel offered. The staff spoke perfect English and were helpful and polite. The room was immaculately clean and decorated tastefully. The bathroom was a fair size with a bath, shower, hairdryer and fresh towels everyday. The hotel is situated about five minutes walk from the Rialto Bridge and is a perfect base if you wish to explore the city. There is a waterbus stop at the Rialto Bridge and from there you have easy access to...

Steer clear of the Santa Marina
from GMNDC
My fiance and I stayed at the Santa Marina and it was a nightmare. First off, we weren't given a room in the main building, and the room we were given smelled of urine. The room had an overall dingy appearance, with the requisite carpet stains, and shower mildew. The hotel is grossly overpriced, and I suggest that if you visit Venice pay the extra money to stay in a 5 star hotel whose standards you can trust. If you are counting on the free trip to the Murano glass factory be prepared to pay water taxi fare back to the hotel....

Great service, great location
from LuckyHousing_123
My wife and I have just returned from Venice. The Santa Marina Hotel was absolutely beautiful! Our room was in the main building on 1st floor with a lift. Room is compact and neat, but with all necessary stuff such as TV, fridge (minibar that could be used as one), air con, shower/WC with hair dryer- all in good order. Breakfast was good - flakes or sadwiches, fruits/salads, croissants, cookies, coffee/tea/milk/juices etc. - the choice is yours and no limit with potential possibility of takeaway for the ones who likes to take...

A Positive Experience
from Flankster
We chose the Santa Marina because it is close to where a friend lives. We abandoned our rental car at Piazzale Roma and took the vaporetto to the Rialto Bridge stop. Dragging our luggage from the Bridge to the Hotel was a bit of a challenge - but probably took less than ten minutes with the help of a couple of friendly tourists/locals. We were a bit surprised when the bellboy led us out of the Hotel and took us to an adjacent building where our room was located. Although there was no elevator, our room was only on the second floor (or...

Be warned !!!!
from RodPring
We booked three nights Feb 2005 through Lastminute @£60 per night for 4* accomodation. On arrival at midnight, we were shown into an annexe 50 m away and up 5 flights of stairs to Room 607. Hardly 4* treatment ! On complaining in the morning we were offered a room at their sister hotel, Ca'Dei Conti which was fantastic... see my review. There is still major paving work going on at Santa Marina. Avoid !!
The Truth!
from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Santa Marina in November 2004. Yes, there were works going on to the sewers around the hotel (could happen anywhere in the city), and yes, we did stay in a room in a building separate to the main hotel, but the hotel itself can't really be faulted. It is a couple of minutes walk from the Rialto bridge, and about 10minutes walk from St Marks, but despite this the hotel is set away in a secluded square which is very peaceful at night. The main building was delightful, especially the bar and the lounge area, and the hotel staff...

Think Again!!
from OKCtraveler48
OK, I had a different, more expensive place lined up, but decided to save the $500 US and go with the place the tour agency recommended. That may have been a mistake. We paid 890 Euros for 5 nights. The "campo" that the hotel buildings, (yes different buildings), are located is in the midst of some reconstruction. Very loud removing of stones and replacing with temporary wooden decking. Also, the guy who sells magazines and newspapers in the Campo put up a basketball hoop. I woke up one morning at 5:30 trying to figure out what the...

Wonderful stay at Santa Marina
from Mabel8
My husband and I stayed at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We have no doubt that we will visit again and stay at the Santa Marina! We found the hotel easily and once you do, it is not difficult to find it again. We stayed on the top floor and the room was charming - overlooking a small square. It was also very quiet. The staff was very friendly and gave us an excellent restaurant recommendation -Ristorante Canaletto. The breakfast (included) was very nice and we had a number of options. (I am a vegetarian and my husband...
