Helvetia Hotel

Just returned from 6 days in Venice. We stayed at Hotel Helvetia. The description is correct. Very friendly and always ready to help staff. Breakfast was more than the normal breakfast served in Italy. Would recommend this place any time and would revisit any day.

This hotel is 30 seconds away from the vaporetto stop in Lido. The ride takes 50 minutes from Santa Lucia Train Station and 14 minutes from St Marks Square. Also, in Lido there is a Alilaguna stop that takes you to the airport (50 min) so the location is very convenient. As you can imagine, you have to buy the Vaporetto day pass because you have to use it at least two times a day; take that into account when comparing other hotel rates (in my case it was still cheaper) The hotel is nice, it has air conditioning, ensuite, is clean... more

This property is great, its on the island of Lido which is absolutely amazing! The hotel is really lovely and the breakfast is beautiful. The staff are also very helpful and really friendly. The room has everything you need, comfy bed, air conditioning and an ensuite oh and a TV, you couldn't ask for anything more. Highly recommend this accomodation.

We stayed at the Helvetia which is just a few meters away from where a water taxi will drop you off at the island of Lido in Venice. The hotel is on the main street and we were given a room which was spacious and which had 2 small balconies that faced the main street. During the day we would open the windows and watch the people go by which was a nice experience. The breakfast area is in a small garden which is very charming. this hotel was basic, very clean, and excellent value for money, lovely location, with great restaurants and cafes nearby to eat, thoroughly enjoyed our weekend here and would recommend to anyone what a lovely hotel and place this is.

My wife & I stayed at this hotel 10 years ago (1997) for our honeymoon so we decided to go back for a 4 night stay (10th- 14th September 2007) to reminice. We found the hotel still good & still with basic amenities. The room was a good size & cleaned spotlessly every day, (all credit to the cleaner),the bathroom was a bit small but the shower was excellent, plenty of room in the wardrobe for clothing & 2 pillows on the beds ( ask for them). A no nonense stay without being pretentious.Clean and bed linen and room spotless.Staff very attentive and very close to all amenties inc Ferry terminal. Great place with nice breakfast. Clean, comfy, nice & helpful staff. A little noisy at nights, too close to the busy street. To far to walk to the beach but easy to walk to the Vaporetto station. Lido is at least a half hour away from Venice train station on the Vaporetto.

Very nice hotel, really. I've stayed here two years in a row. However, the manager seems to be running a small extortion scam. Do not be surprised if you asked to pay 50 euros for a hole in a bedsheet obviously from wear and tear or a broken flimsy window pane blown open by the wind. I've seen him operate like this with my group and others.

I stayed at this hotel in October, 2004. I paid 58 Euros per night using an Italian airline's website. The entire hotel is non-smoking as a result of local law.which is nice. The hotel rooms are very clean, especially the bathroom. There was plenty of closet space. They offer satellite TV (CNN, MTV) in the rooms and modern elevator.
