Mixed Feelings about Albergo Ca'Alvise
from jf4trip
My husband and I decided to go to Venice for New Year’s Eve. The impromptu nature of our trip meant that the more well known properties were booked or very expensive. I reserved the Albergo Ca' Alvise through priceline Europe (aka booking.com), and was uncertain of what to expect based on the mixed reviews on the booking.com site. In addition, after making the booking I found that Albergo Ca’Alvise in the new name for the former Hotel Gallini (post renovation of the property). Reviews of Hotel Gallini on Trip Advisor did not relieve my...

Great Location
from GuernseyGirl
Me and my partner stayed at the Gallini earlier this month. Its very difficult to find once you get off the water bus/taxi from the airport. The hotel was clean and in a great location for St Marcs Square/restaurants/gondola rides. We booked a deluxe room but when we checked in we had a standard room. The rooms are quite small and very very basic...with dodgy wiring!! Since we've returned ive sent an email requesting a refund/explanation why we didnt get a deluxe room.....that was 3 weeks ago, no reply!! Venice was an amazing place but i...

Try something else

Pros: Great location, very near San Marco and other attractions. Breakfast wasn't great but had a lot of options (except no espresso/capuccino!). Cons: No A/C and if you open the windows at night, prepare to be feasted upon by mosquitos. I had to stay up almost all night to kill all the bugs. The walls are covered with bugs squashed by past customers (not clean). The bathroom was quite small and ugly and was not cleaned very well. While there, I heard multiple people complain about the accomodations (though I never did), each time...

Great Location, Big Breakfast, Simple Rooms
from A TripAdvisor Member
We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Hotel Gallini. They offer excellent service, a big breakfast and great central location. The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable. Beware of Mosquitoes if you keep the windows open! :)
Centrally located and reasonably priced during "off season"
from Scheffler
Spent four nights over a March weekend at the Gallini with my girlfriend and we were both very happy with our stay. It was not absolutely perfect, but still very nice. We found what we considered to be a very good rate online for 75 Euro per night over two weekend nights and 45 Euro per night over two weekday nights. Considering the location of the Gallini is so close to Piazza San Marco and the Rialto, we doubt we could have found much better. Pros: – Clean if spartan rooms. – Clean, comfortable beds. – Ample...

Fantastic Service
from A TripAdvisor Member
My friends and I (a party of thirteen) enjoyed our stay in the Gallini tremendously. The rooms although basic were spotlessly clean with fresh towels provided each day. The hotel is centrally located, only a short walk from all major attractions. I have never stayed in a hotel where the reception staff have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. They booked our meals in fantastic restaurants arranged a private boat trip on the grand cannal (with our own guide) and also arranged a water taxi to the airport which included...

A Basic Little Hotel
from quiltingangel
My adult children and I just ended our trip through Italy with a stay at the Hotel Gallini. The Hotel was clean and basic. Unfortunately no lifts which left us carting out luggage up 3 floors in the heat of the day. The Hotel has no airconditioning (I suppose an American comfort) so we left the screenless windows open to try to combat the 85degree heat in the room. Bring mosquito repellant! The clerks in reception were helpful for the most part except for one condecending young man who seemed sarcastically inconvenienced when I asked him...

Gallini - A Good Experience
from grannie
Just read the review of the Hotel Gallini by the tourist from San Francisco. I am sorry she had such a bad experience - as we were quite pleased with this hotel. It was between average and above average when one considers the reasonable daily rate. We stayed there from 5/24 through 5/28/2005. When we were checking out on the morning of Sunday, 5/29, there was a woman at the front desk whom we had not seen before. I told her how pleased we were with the Gallini's service and the cleanliness of the entire facility. I mentioned I had...

Will never go back!
from A TripAdvisor Member
Recently, we were on a month-long vacation throughout Europe and visited most of the major cities including Venice. We stayed at 22 hotels and had no problems except for Hotel Gallini. We reserved all of our hotels 3 months in advance (Jan-Feb) prior to our tour (Apr-May). When we arrived in Venice, Hotel Gallini indicated that it did not have our reservation. When we produced a hardcopy of the reservation the hotel owner/manager went into a sob story of being in the hospital, so the reservation wasn't recorded, blah, blah, blah (to...

A Pleasant Stay
from N6JM
We spent three nights here, at 120 Euro per night, 24-27 October, for the beginning of a 3-week holiday in Italia. After a 12-hour layover in London, we arrived in Venezia very late. Not familiar with the city it was a challenge to find the hotel after being dropped off by boat a Piazza San Marco. One walks in this city. One has the choice of three Vaporetto (Waterbus) stops, San Marco, Rialto, and San Angelo, which is the closest. You can use the same line to connect to the train station. It is not unusual to see tourists walking the...
