Have just arrived back... Have had a super time.
The hotel was super, with the beach on the door step. Staff very helpful and friendly.
The position of the hotel was good, as it was at the end of the harbour, just away from the main bars, so your are not disturbed by the noise. The resort was busier than expected, but very pleasant.
Had a very relaxing holiday, with gorgeous weather, well up in the mid 30's.
Will definately go back there next year.

I didn't really spend much time in the Hotel apart from sleeping there but it was clean, tidy and all the staff were really helpful and friendly. Location is good; Icmeler itself isn't really that big so you are never too far away from anywhere. There is the normal mission of trying to go for an evening walk and getting asked to go into every restaurant/bar you walk past however if you are polite once you have said you are not interested you are no longer hassled.
We were a bit surprised when we got the hotel as we had to pay extra for air-con & fridge considering the weather, so bear that in mind.
I spent most of my days lazing on the jetty run by the Liberty Bar next door to the hotel. The staff are brilliant, the friendliest and most helpful bunch of people in the whole resort (Sammy, Aydin, Ferah & Eren). The beach is free and you get a lovely breeze on the jetty. The food in this bar is lovely. Most evenings there is entertainment (Belly Dancing, Break dancers, Michael Jackson, Turkish Dancers etc). Just have a bit of spare change as a few of the acts will come round to you, for you to show your appreciation! On our last evening we got honoured by the staff dressing up as Tarkan, Tina Turner & Elvis.
Also worth a look is the Stella show in Harmony bar next to Liberty. I'm not normally too keen on drag acts but she was brilliant. A great night. I wouldn't eat there though as the service is not too good.
We found a few lovely restaurants. Coco Beach along the promenade (beautiful kebabs) & Harry’s in the centre of town by the cash points (amazing steaks).
I went last year, went back again this year and will definitely be booking for next year. You can't beat it. The weather is beautiful, the people are friendly, helpful and reliable & have great memories. You can have a quite relaxing holiday or prop yourself up in a bar and drink cocktails into the small hours.
We did a trip on the last day called the Dalian Departure. I wouldn't recommend it. Pay for the extra time in your room in the resort, you will find you make much better use of your time left.
Next year I will be looking at booking independently rather than a package as this works out slightly cheaper, you don't have to do the 3hr coach transfers and you can choose better flight times.

I and my family have just arrived...

I and my family have just arrived back from the worst hotels we have ever had the misfortune to stay in. We had booked this hotel last minute but had done all our research, including reading this review page so felt confident we were going to a great hotel. How wrong can you be? The hotel was supposed to have, a children’s play area and animation, table tennis, snooker, a large pool with two slides, quality food and rooms if you requested the sea view rooms which we did. We arrived with our 8 year old at 5am in the morning tired after a long journey to be informed that the local charge for the air-con was £4.00 a day. I stated that this was extortionate, but we had to pay as it was stifling and I had to get my daughter to sleep, so the hotel had us over a barrel. We were put in to a room which was verging on slum like. The carpet was dirty, it also had glass on it where a picture had fallen off the wall and the broken picture had been stuffed behind the TV. The curtains stopped half a meter short of the floor so light streamed in to the room The shower cubicle was filthy, all of the furniture was shabby and chipped and the beds were so hard my daughter tried to sleep on the floor. The list just goes on. It backed on the car park which at 5am in the morning we could hear vans filled with crates of bottles loading and unloading or turning and to top it all cockerel started crowing at the top of its beak. I immediately went down to see the gentleman on reception and he stated that we should sleep and sort it out a little later on. At 9.30 I left my sleeping family to find our Med Hotels rep, she was in the reception surrounded by 4 other families who had arrived in the last 24 hours all complaining about the hotel. It was then I found out not only was the room appalling but there was no animation for the children at all. The facilities described did not exist, for instance there was a broken table tennis table in the other hall but there was no net, no bats and no balls. The rep tried her best and even she admitted that the hotel was over priced and over rated. She promised to get us moved from our appalling room. When every one else had peeled away, whilst chatting to the rep there was blood curdling scream which went on and on which came from the dining / serving area. Both the rep and I rushed in to offer assistance to witness a waiter surrounded by other waiters. We were quickly ushered away; I found out a day later that a waiter had been electrocuted. It just got worse and worse. The hotel promised to move us from our room and after looking at two other rooms (the first with bare electrics hanging out of the wall of the bathroom), we moved to room 624, and this was up on the 6th floor. That evening we found we had no cold water and waited for 2 hours for this to be dealt with. The water pressure was so erratic and dysfunctional that my daughter was almost scalded, luckily I was in the small shower cubicle with her as a precaution and so I too got the brunt of the burning water. So for the next 6 days we took cool showers. The hotel was dirty, on day one as we moved we noticed used cup of coffee which had been left on the 6th floor landing just by the bend leading to the lift, it sat there till day 5 growing mouldier by the day, which I think says it all. As for health and safety, it would make an inspectors head spin! Broken taps, ladders from the pool, glass and fag ends in the broken down play ground which no child ventured into, the list goes on. The food was edible but so boring, repetitive and basic that by day 3 we started to eat out even though we had paid for half board. On day two I was talking to a lovely welsh lady and her family who had been to this hotel in 2005 and 2006. She said she was mortified at how the hotel had gone down hill so fast and she would never come back again and would be complaining when she returned to England, even the staff seemed miserable and we wondered how and why. I found out the reasons a day later from a member of staff , the management have built a new hotel in Belek and all of the money that should have been spent on this hotel to referb/maintain and keep up to scratch has been poured in to the new hotel leaving this hotel to go to ruin. It a real shame as the location of the hotel is superb and Icmeler is a lovely resort. Just don’t go to this hotel. After day 6 we were moved to a lovely hotel in Marmaris, called the Pasa Beach which I can highly recommend, unfortunately leaving others behind whom were not so fortunate.

Stayed here for 10 days me, my partner, 2 girls aged 18, and 2 little ones aged 9 and 6.
Loved it. The family rooms are a great size. No rush to putting towels down, which is a pleasure in itself! Hotel is right on the beach so if you like the beach and the kids like the pool, you're sorted! Breakfast is ok.
All the staff are happy and will go out of there way for you.
Loads of places to eat in the evening. We found that when we liked somewhere we would go back but don’t really think that’s the way to do it!. We loved Titanic and Dreamboys. All the staff in all the restaurants really knock themselves out for you. Big fuss made of kids (yuck!). Food incredibly good value.
All in all, couldn’t ask for more. Only downside I would say is that the kids didn’t meet kids if you know what I mean. Its not the sort of Thomas Cook family hotel where you'd go to meet other kids. However, if your looking for a hotel that’s clean, is on the beach, has a pool, you'll love it.
We've booked again for next year and we never go back to the same hotel!!

We have just arrived back from a...

Jun 2007, Mrs H Watling

We have just arrived back from a fantastic fortnight holiday in the Golmar Beach Hotel and found it to be a great hotel, the staff were really friendly and went out of there way to get you whatever you wanted. The family rooms we were in were enormous and as there were 2 families we had rooms next to each other with great pool and beach views.
The beach was a stride away from the hotel and was very quiet and relaxing, but with children we spent most of our time by the pool and it wasn’t only them that enjoyed the two slides we adults had our fair share of them too. The breakfast was ok for a light meal but if you do want a good English fry up then I can recommend the mirage dance bar in Icmeler (although I will say any of the restaurants and bars do do them).
There is a very talented hairdresser on the hotel site which I can really recommend! And do take the time to have your photos taken by the resident photographer he is well worth it and we did have some lovely photos to bring home.
Although the beach bar in the hotel was good for snacks we found the liberty bar next door was lovely and friendly especially Sammy who made you feel really welcome (he even got me a delicious cake to celebrate my birthday even though it was a week early!) The dolmus buses are a great way to get about, but they can get very hot when they are full. Choosing a water taxi is also a great way to see the island on your way over to Marmaris where you will want to take in the sights of the bizarre (great experience although could feel intimidating if you are a bit weary of enclosed spaces).
We had great times at all the shows that are in any bar any night of the week (belly dancing, break dancing, Michael Jackson and Tina Turner tributes are just a few of what you will witness)
All in all this was a really relaxing and enjoyable holiday and we hope to visit the Golmar and Icmeler again next year I don’t think 2 weeks is long enough!

Oct 2006, Mrs J Connor

Came back on 16th Oct. Celebrated my birthday there on 15th October. Bars and restaurants still going strong. Golmar Beach was right on the beach, and very clean, with beautiful sea views. Linen & Towels changed every day, lovely maid. The only complaint I had was the Turkish Baths in the hotel.
I had a Turkish bath expecting them to be working, but they weren't. I was still charged, and they gave me a sauna instead, and a massage which I thought wasn't very professional. I was thinking of just going, but I stayed, and was charged 15 Lira for this service. I later found out that the Turkish Baths in Icmeler were much better, and so went there for one on my birthday. I was only charged 8 Turkish Lira, and the massage was more professional. I had told the previous masseur to concentrate on my neck and shoulder where I had arthritis, but he concentrated more on my buttocks, spending far too long in that area! I won't go there again for a Turkish bath. The Icmeler Turkish Baths were much better.
Swimming pool just the right size, with massive big pink curly slide, also another slide which I didn't try out, though I was going to, honest! It was very popular with children. There is a restaurant attached to the bar, but staff not as friendly as the other ones alongside. Breakfast plain and simple, but plenty of it.

Just returned from a 2week stay at...

Aug 2006, Mrs P Davies

Just returned from a 2week stay at the Golmar beach hotel what a lovely place. The staff are lovely and helpful, you don't have to move off your sun bed as Ahmed will get you what ever you want and OJ and the rest of the staff in the restaurant look after you really well. The pool area is kept lovely and clean.
The rooms are one bedroom with however many beds are needed ours had 3 and was plenty big enough, they are cleaned every day and clean towels. The air con is charged at £4 a day and a fridge £1 and that was my only problem was not having a fridge that worked gave up after trying 3.
Never been to Icmeler before though this is my fourth time to turkey will definitely go back next year even though Icmeler is supposed to be one of the quieter resorts there are plenty bars offering karaoke and drag shows or just dance music. The Turkish people are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them if they haven't got what you want they will go out of the way to get it.
The restaurants are great plenty of choice. The Chef did a lovely roast lunch and the CD bar fab lamb we took over the CD bar for the big brother final what more can I say except give it a go you won't be sorry.

Jun 2006, aj

The Golmar beach hotel is a lovely hotel in a quietish area of Icmeler, right at the end of the bay, but in easy stroll or dolmus ride in to the centre of Icmeler or to Marmaris.
The hotel is run by a very friendly family, and the staff are very kind and cannot do enough to make your stay an enjoyable one. they have their own boat and the boat trip is a fantastic day, we went out 10am-5pm, had a bbq on board stopped at a couple of bays, went swimming and on the banana boat. The Turkish night is fab, gorgeous food, entertainment, break dancing, belly dancers, folk dancers and the not to be missed staff dancing with some party dances too.
Kerim the receptionist is lovely, as are all the waiters and bar staff, very picturesque views of the mountains, right on the beach, excellent pool with two slides, I went with 8 people aged between 60 and 8 and we all had a ball will go back again and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Mar 2006, Mrs Kj Coyle

The Golmar beach hotel in Icmeler turkey is in a perfect location away from the crowds but not to far from the action.
The hotel is absolutely brilliant for kids as it boasts two great water slides, table tennis, pool, water polo, aqua aerobics, a great bar and music at night and brilliant dancing from the staff who are all very helpful and kind and will do anything to make sure your holiday is spot on. The rooms are very tastefully decorated modern and clean the housekeeping staff are great and do a perfect job every day, we went bed and breakfast and found the food very good and plentiful. This place is a jewel.
Take your children here they will absolutely love the pool and water slides and the direct access to the sandy beach. This place rocks, turkey is an amazing place. Gorgeous weather, scenery, great people, you can not go wrong.
