Great fun holiday

Booked last minute 2 adults and 2 teenagers. not sure what we would get! Transfer by Resorthoppa was terrible, took 4 hours, driver didnt have a clue where he was going, finally we were transferred onto a mini bus and that was ok. Quick check-in, basic room but very clean and everything you need except a kettle. Great views of beach and pools with 2 great slides for kids. Breakfast is ok, quite basic but enough, would have liked some bacon! hotel staff were great, very friendly, great time had on hotel boat trip and Turkish bath at hotel. Lovely position, quiet at night but only short walk to lively parts of Icmeler which is lovely. Would love to go back next year!!

Unhappy

Aug 2009, Mrs Margaret Liddle

I was suprised that I had to pay daily for the fridge, air-con and safe which was located in reception, which was just a large room with settees and chairs, not very comfortable when you have to sit there for hours when you are put out of your room, the suitcases had to be left near the door in reception, not very safe. the shower room that was offered to us was a unisex toilet with a shower in the centre very difficult to shower and change when it was open the the public to enter at any time.
Although this hotel was a three star adding all the extras it was as expensive as a higher star hotel. On a better note I have to say that the staff from reception to waiters and room maids were very nice and very helpful. Sadly, I will not use this hotel again as it is too far off the beaten track and unfortunately, it is rated too high.

  • Advice: Yes Icmeler is a beautiful place, I have been there several times, and the Turkish people are second

Golmar Beach Hotel

Jul 2009, white, Donna

My first time to the Golmar was May 2008. I would not have chosen this hotel on my own, but one of our friends is Kerims girlfriend so it made sense for us all to be in the same hotel. Our friend would usually stay in five star accomadation, although i was happy to go along but five star it is not. Staff are very helpful and plesant and cleaning staff are fantastic. Food is a buffet style and evening meal is 7.50 Lira. I can highly recommend The Liberty Bar just next door for fun and entertainment. We had a fantastic holiday and when our friend was going to see Kerim again in May 2009, we did not hesitate to book the Golmar Beach Hotel again. Unfortunatly there has been so many staff changes, too many chiefs so staff dont seem as relaxed and the tension is obvious. We are returning in October this year and hope to see the Golmar Beach Hotel back to the way it was run before with staff more relaxed and friendly. We miss you Kerim.

great holiday

Jul 2009, catbet

Golmar beach is an excellent, clean hotel with very friendly staff. They love to look after all your needs no matter how small. I was travelling with my husband and my 8 year old and 1 1/2 year old girls. The pool was excellent, but quite deep. My eldest loved the slides. Plenty of sunbeds. The small pool was a little deep for my toddler, this was a bit of a downside. There are quite a lot of steps around the hotel grounds although the staff were more than happy to lift the buggy up all the time. The beach was too gritty for my girls - no sandcastles! The hotel is very quiet at night and as its right at the end of the bay there was very little other noise so getting the girls to sleep was no problem. The turkish bath is a must but do at start of holiday. The icecream boy was brilliant- think his name Joseph. Take advantage of the hotel hairdresser and photographer. Plenty of shops and brilliant restaurants - make sure you go to The Majestic, Valentinos (English breakfast £1!). Hotel breakfast fine- hot food changed each morning. If going to waterpark book on the street as much cheaper than going on own. Go to Icmeler market, but very hot so go early. Barter the price in shops- it expexted. All in all Icmeler really friendly, place, especially for children and can't wait to go back.

As a rule we don't normally write a review but felt compeled to after reading 2 poor reviews which we felt were both unjust and unfair. The 1st thing I will say is that this rated rated a 3* plus which is exactly what it is, yes the rooms could do with a lick of paint and the breakfast is nothing to get excited about however for the money we paid for 4 of us it was excellent value for money. We are not easilly pleased we are though realistic, so instead of looking for faults lets deal with the good points. 1st of all the staff were excellent to all the guests regardless of gender, as we said the breakfast is fine and the dining area is clean. The evening meal if you wish to pay for is also good and excellent value for money compared to prices in the resort itself, the outside dining area is particularly pleasant to sit and eat. The rooms are basic, however they are spacious, clean good enough. The pool and bar area are pleasant, and the staff during the day will bring you food and drinks to you if you so wish down to their own section of beach and the pool area. As for the location of the hotel you could not wish for more, the hotel is right on the beach and the views of the bay and mountains are breathtaking. We found all the staff, pleasant, courteous and polite and contary to what the other review said that was to all of us not just my partner. My teenage boy and his friend were also well looked after for the whole 2 weeks we were there and had a great time with the staff. As for Icmeler itself we thought it was beautiful and the photographs you see of the area don't really do it was justice, the boat trips are very good vlue however beware of the drink prices once you are onboard for the day, it is advisable to haggle and get your drinks included. The one which the Golmar does which we didn't take as the boys wanted one to go on one of the larger boats is meant to be very good. To sum up the Golmar is not and never will be a 4 or 5* hotel, it is though great value for money, in a top location in a top resort. We have booked to go back next year in September and really can't wait. Don't be put off by one or two bad reviews... we didn't find any guests complaining and everyone we spoke to had a great time.

  • Advice: Fantastic resort.... ideal for families and couples
  • Activities: All the restaraunts offered good food and plenty of choice

I have just come back for the Golamar...

I have just come back for the Golamar Beach Hotel and I was amazed,
It was literally the best holiday I have ever had!
I mean, okay, the beds were a bit hard and the shower was very '' Turkish '' shall we say, but how much time do you spend in your room!? You sleep and you get ready.
Just remember that Englands 5 star, 4 star or even 3 star Is sooo much different to a Turkish 3 star.
Meanwhile, the pool was absoloutly excellent!! My husband had the most fun with the slides, more than my daughter! And you cannot fault the Pool people, they get you everything. My daughter and I found one that we quite liked!! :)
But even at night, on a few occasions we saw the boys that worked at the hotel and even then they are as nice as pie. We had a few drinks with them and just chatted until quiet early in the morning!
Yes, I agree that the hotel wasn't fabulous, but you dont go for the hotel, you go for Turkey and the people there, to have a nice time and to sit on the beach. To go and get a tan, and to get all the knock off handbags.
So it was deffinatly the best holiday I've ever had.
PS. If your going to go to any restaraunts go to one called The Love Boat...
The food there is absoloutly GORGEOUS!
Anyway, hope you enjoy yourself if you go and I would recommend the Hotel and Turkey to ANYBODY!

Sep 2008, Mr P W Bundock

I have just come off of the phone after talking to the Golmar to arrange our room for monday,we are going on monday for our 4th visit it may be 5th actually, the hotel's location is perfect, right at the end of the bay,no one walking home drunk and noisy!
The Golmar is sighted just right,if,like me you are a bit of a Jekell& Hyde,I like it quiet for most of the time, however when I feel like partying I like to let go!and the beauty of the Golmar is each bar brings you closer to home,we always finish off at the DENIZ KAPISI this place used to bang until five in the morning, but it settles a little earlier these day's.All in all the Golmar is a pleasant hotel with very nice staff,Kerim is a jewell to behold and seeing him again on Monday will be so good.
we hav'nt been to the Golmar for two years now,so it will be interesting to see if spraggs view was justified! I will give an up to date view on our return.
iyi gegeler

We booked this as a late deal. It...
4 / 10
Aug 2008, Mrs R Cholerton

We booked this as a late deal. It was our first time in Turkey and before we went we had read the other reviews. Because of that we thought we'd leave our own opinion.
The first problem with this holiday was the transfer. After 15-20 minutes on the road the driver decided to stop at the dirtiest cafe. It was 6 in the morning and even though we didn't want a stop he pulled in and announced a 15 minute toilet stop. Really, it was just so he could have some food with the cafe owners and other drivers. We think that the transfer company was taking the new-comers to the cafe to buy things because it also happened on the way back. Clearly it was pre-arranged because all the same company buses were pulling in and you'll see that there are other opportunities further down the road for a toilet stop. In any event after that you have to be prepared for bad driving and a long trip after this because he doesn't stop again in two hours.
The hotel itself was clearly at one time a top hotel, but now seems to be in need of some renovation. I would say that it's really a two star plus! That said the rooms were spacious, cleaned everyday, and safe. The pool had two slides, but to be honest they looked like they needed replacing, or cleaning and sometimes the bigger one wasn't even working.
The breakfast was really nothing to shout about. You have a choice of spam, dairylea, coco pops with warm milk, Melon with flies or slightly toasted bread. On one occasion I told the waiter who had previously been speaking English, that the milk was warm, but he suddenly lost the ability to speak English and seemed more interested in the young girls behind me. In general then I would say that if you're looking for a hotel to stay at all day, then I think you'll be disappointed, but if like us you like going out and about and just need a base then it's fine. One other thing though, be careful of prices. A bottle of wine was 35 Lira, which was £17!!!
I think it's also worth telling you about the place. First off it's not cheap! Anything between 3 Lira and 6 Lira for a pint and the food, which is generally rubbish, is really over priced in some parts. The waiters are all very friendly, especially to the women and are very good at remembering names so as to get you to go back, but when they talk to you about going back at night for a meal cut them back on prices. That's the same with the water sports. Tell them you want discounts cause some of it is too expensive.
On the way back the transfer bus provided some further bad driving and a pit stop at the cafe which was yet another excuse for people to buy stuff when really we just wanted to get to the airport, which was only another twenty minutes away.
One final point. Be prepared for the most extortionate airport ever. It is £11 for a Macdonalds and £35 for a KFC bargain bucket without drink or dips!!! Who said going abroad was cheap?
In general though, great weather, safe hotel, peaceful beautiful area and a good relaxing time! But I don't think we'd bother with it again.

We didn't originally book this hotel, the hotel we did book (Galeria Park) was absolutely disgusting - so we were very relieved when we transfered to Golmar Beach.
The hotel was beautiful, rooms spotless and cleaned every day. The staff were wonderful and nothing is too much trouble for them.
Having been to Icmeler before, normally when staying in a hotel and if you are not staying in that hotel for evening meals or drinks, the staff can get quite pushy. But nothing like that here. We sometimes ate in the restaurant here, and the food was excellent and very cheap.
It has all the amenities that you could possibly want, air conditioning, fridge, hairdryer, a fantastic pool with to superb waterslides, a photographer, hairdresser, internet cafe and even a doctor that calls daily should you need it.
Two of our party has disabilities, and the hotel caters very well for this. We even managed to hire a wheel chair through them for one of the guests.
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone. 100% first class.
Thanks to Kerim and all the staff who made us so very welcome. See you next year!

I have been on holdiay to the Golmar Beach Hotel twice and on both occasions it has been magnificent and well worth every penny. The staff are so friendly and very welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble.
The hotel is spotless, rooms cleaned daily, clean towels daily and bed linen changed regularly.
The food is excellent especially the evening meal in the Restaurant and is good value for money.
Walk out the back of the hotel and you are on the beach which is also kept very clean at all times and the service you receive on the beach whilst sunbathing is second to none. Boat trips available on a daily basis which is within walking distance, restaurants and entertainment all local. All in all it was a fantastic holiday and I will be going again next year. No need to hire a car.

Nov 2007, Miss Danielle Greenwood

I had a great holiday here!
Firstly, the hotel was great. The staff were polite and helpful and went out of there way to get you what you wanted. The food wasn't to good but it was the end of the year so there was very little they could do. The room was clean and it had a great view of the beach. There were many sun loungers and no mad rush to get them. There were two pools, a little pool for the children and a bigger pool for other guests, but I think the pool water was a little cold. I didn't go on the slides but my mother and father did and they seemed to like them. Overall I liked this hotel very much.
Secondly, the bars and restaurants have very polite staff that are very helpful and kind. Unfortunately I only saw one show, The Stella Show, which is a drag show from Blackpool England, and it was brilliant. The bars are very good and the dancers are excellent. I really enjoyed going to this bars and restaurants around Icmeler.
Finally, being a 13 year old female I got a bit of trouble with the young men of Turkey. They are a little flirty with young females but they don't mean any harm. The staff and people around Turkey are very nice and polite and speak quite good English.
I would recommend Golmer Beach Hotel, Icmeler, Turkey because the people living and working there are very friendly and are always there to help you. This is a very nice place to go and I will DEFINITELY be going back.
