thanks for the upgrade
I can't comment on what the original 145 Euro room we had booked was like but the upgrade to the two floor suite was a nice surprise. Downstairs, sofa, tv, fridge and toilet. Upstairs, bed, bathroom and terrasse with a view of the Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur and Notre Dame. We were told that the suite went for well above 300 Euro so we were lucky indeed. the hotel has a very contemporary feel which is what we were looking for and is conveniently located to several metro stations. I will stay here again on my next visit to Paris.
Perfect location for Bastille Day fireworks
My boyfriend and I stayed at Le Senat for two nights in July 2006 and with fortuitous timing it was during Bastille Day. I made my reservation online and had picked one of the cheaper rooms, however, upon arrival we were upgraded to a suite without extra cost. The terrace in our room gave us amazing views over Paris and we could see the Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur, Louvre and Notre Dame. For the Bastille Day fireworks we stayed on our balcony and observed fireworks going off over the entire city. Overall, we thought Le Senat was a stylish... more
Lovely little hotel
I thought this hotel was an absolute find. Great attention to detail, excellent location and the staff were very efficient and helpful.
Good hotel, great AirCon !
I stayed at this hotel because my usual hotel was full. I know the area pretty well having leved there for 3 years so I chose on location and appearance (my favourite area, close to Odeon, Luxembourg, St Michel and St Germain). I got an OK rate (180 euro per night midweek) for a standard double room. My first impressions were good. Contrary to the previous review I found the staff very polite. The lift was small (3-4 people max) but you have to expect that in Paris. The room was nice and of average size for Paris (i.e. not very... more
comfortable, stylish hotel, rude staff
I have mixed feelings about this hotel. some thoughts -- it is well located, near luxembourg gardens, and close to everything in st germain des pres. the classic rooms are really really small. if you must book a classic room, request one with a balcony. we did and we really enjoyed having a small balcony with a table and two chairs to relax on. the front desk staff was at best adequate and at worst really rude. the lobby smelled like cat pee when we first arrived. the lift is super small. the halls smell like cleaning solution.... more
A Small Delight!
The hotel we originally booked had to move us. Luckily, it was to this well located, quiet, well appointed hotel on the left bank, convenient to Notre Dame and Saint Chapelle. Very nice breakfast and very helpful service added to our positive impression of this hotel.
Perfect in Paris
My husband and I stayed at this Hotel during a 'romantic excursion' to Paris. We absolutely loved it. Although the rooms are small, they are on par with other european hotels, and we found ours to be adequate for the two of us. The hotel is beautifully decorated and modern. The staff is courteous and very helpful, looking up hours and availability of various places to see, helping to arrange transport to the airport, humoring me with my badly-accented french. The location is excellent, too - within walking distance of St. Germain des... more
What a gem!
What a little gem! We stayed at this hotel for one night because the hotel we had originally booked couldn't have us for the first night. Wish they couldn't have had us at all so we could have stayed at the Senat! We were upgraded to a duplex room, and I have never had a bed with such quality bedding. Same for the toileties! Staff were very helpul, location fantastic, and the breakfast was again quality- Kellogs cornflakes, real orange juice, and tea and coffee served in quality pots- not the leaky ones that we always seem to get in other... more
Impeccable
Without a doubt, Le Senat is the best of the best. Okay, I have never stayed at the George V, but if you're on tripadvisor, you probably won't be staying there either. Le Senat has an outstanding location; walk to all the sights easily. The rooms couldn't be cleaner; serviced every morning with crisp, white linens. And the staff were very friendly and accommodating; great recommendations for meals and always eager to help. We didn't try the hotel breakfast, but that is only b/c there are so many fantastic boulangeries and... more
Lovely Hotel, Great Location!
We stayed here on the last night of our 2 week vacation and loved it. The rooms have just been done, and although they were pretty small (it's Paris!) they were well furnished and clean and the bathroom was great - with Hermes toiletries! The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in (seriously!). The only slight negative I would have would be that a couple of the receiption staff we encountered were pretty arrogant and not at all helpful like most the reviewers have experienced. The position of this hotel is fantastic -... more
