This hotel is budget priced and comes with handy location to Gare du Nord (around 8 euros by cab), short walk to Pigalle Metro and links to the rest of Paris. For the traveller there are the benefits of a pharmacy and a cash point just a few paces away. My sister and I stayed for 4 nights last december and I feel I have to post our findings after reading the reports from Nov 2004 from the americans. This hotel is an ideal tourist hotel, great area for locating to all the main sights. The metro lines are great and easy to work out. The moulin rouge area is as pornographic as you make it, if you go looking for something you will find it. My bestfriend and I stayed at this hotel 3 days ago. We read the comments posted here and were very nervous about going. I opened the hotel room with great fear, but was delighted with what we found. We stayed in room 14 which is a large twin room with a small balcony and large bathroom. The man one the desk was helpful and friendly and spoke excellent English. Rooms are small and need updating. But each room does have a shower and toilet (big plus for me). Door closes at 1am but you can ring the bell and a guy is now always in the lobby to open it. Not a bad place to say at for the money. Overall we were happy with our choice. About directions… if you are traveling and need direction do what I do. E-mail the hotel and have them send you step by step directions. It works great.

Our family stayed at this hotel on June 2005 and we had a bad experience.First of all,we were never told how to get there,which train to take and which stop to get off.We found the hard way.When we finally got to the place,we found the room to be small and cramped.The carpet seemed to be old,shabby and smelly.Our sons got stuck in the tiny elevator and we all had a frightful experience.The manager seemed to be exasperated by the fact that we called him for help.On top of all,the sink was clogged and we were afraid that we might get charged... more

I have just returned from a weekend stay at the Grand Hotel de Turin. The hotel is in an excellent location, very central and a short walk to Pigalle Metro station. The staff at reception were very welcoming; I think it helps to make an effort to learn a few French phrases beforehand! The rooms are pretty small but make a good base, as to be honest, you won't be spending too much time in there as there is so much to explore. Grand Hotel de Turin is a great location but unless you are styaing on the upper floors it is so noisy you will not sleep. I booked this hotel not being very familiar with it's location. As it turns out just behind this hotel is a block of XXX rated clubs and peep shows. This means that after 10 pm people that want to have privacy with a hooker or ? they can rent a room at this hotel on the lower floors if they pay cash. I think the hotel maynot be for everyone. Yes the rooms are small like a dorm rooms. Yes the breakfast is little more than toast and coffee, Yes, the price is cheap. And Yes they lock the doors at 1pm and you have to ring to get in. But it’s all in what you make it. I didn’t go to Paris for the hotel but for the experience. It is close to everything. Just spent 5 days in February at this hotel .First off,don't believe or be fooled by internet photos or any other brochures on this hotel.The hotel and rooms are nothing like they promise.Very ,very small rooms and bathroom.Not even big enough for 1 adult let alone 2.We have travelled a lot through europe and understand how small european hotels can be i think we were just hoping for the hotel we saw in the brochure.Breakfast very average and staff not very friendly.The only good thing to come of this hotel is the italian restaurant right... more
