Better than expected!!!!!!!!!!1

Oct 2011, jojo

Just got home from this hotel (29/09/2011), and I got to say I was apprehensive when i read the reviews, but it was alot better than I thought it was going to be!!!!!
We arrived at 9.30pm, and thought we were at the wrong hotel, as the name outside the hotel is The Royal Palm Beach, not Palm Area, We were really happy with the 1st impressions.
We got to reception, which looked really nice, and were looked after straight away, and taken to our rooms, the only prob being, which they didnt tell us till we got to the room, was that they were putting my 2 teenagers, myself & my husband in a double room, as no family room was available till the next day, anyway too tired to argue, and was told to come back next morn, which I did, and was told the room would be ready after 2pm.
Went to collect the key, and was really happy with the 'family room', on entrance a big room, with 2 single beds, and a t.v, only downside, no air-con in this room, but big french doors which over looked the small gardens, then another dooe leading to another big room with a double bed, air-con, and a bathroom, with a shower, toilet and sink, overall very pleased, nicely decorated, and clean, the air-con in the other room wasnt really a prob, as we just left our door open to circulate the cold air, and the kids were fine with that!!!!
FOOD!!!
Wasnt best pleased with the food, it was edible, although mostly turkish food, which you would expect, just not a great deal of choice....
Breakfast....
Fresh omellettes, which I used to get tomato and cheese off the salad counter and get them to put it in, cereal and boiled eggs, no toast etc......that was it for breakfast....
Lunch.....
chips, maybe chicken in a sauce, maybe noodles, pasta or some mash, then your usual salad cart......and bread, bread, bread....
Dinner....usually some kind of potato, chicken, maybe rice or some meatballs, that was it, just one tiny serving station, and the chef serves you, its not self serve, my son kept his plate in his hand pointing towards the chef hoping for more chips, and the chef said enough, now go, the cheek of it!!!! and the food wasnt very warm at all, could of done with some heaters on the serving station, the restaurant is outdoors, under shelters!!!
Pool Area...
The pools were lovely, and very clean indeed, loads of sunbeds, coming down at midday some days and still loads left, but that was prob coz of the time of year we went, maybe diff in the summer months, but got to say, it was still between 35-40deg end of sept, not a cloud in the sky!!!
Boat trip...
Booked a boat trip with a rep at the hotel, bad move, he charged os 35euro each all inc, but only 26ea on the main strips, good day out though, kids loved jumping in the sea off the top deck of the boat, food and drink was good on the boat though...
Top Tip...
Go to China Town for a meal, we hadlots of diff dishes, and they were all gorgeous, came to 138lira, which was bout £60 for the 4 of us with drinks, well worth it!!!!
Overall had a lovely week, only downside was more food choice....and warmer food, perfect location, 2 sec walk to the beach, beach was that shingle, not sand, we didnt bother with it to be honest, and ten min walk into the town, nice stroll in the nites, used to get a taxi back, a must visit is Chico's bar, best nite ever, hilarious dancers, we ended up there everynit, as no entertainment at the hotel at all!!!!
Hope this review helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Holiday 2011

Aug 2011, Kentish family

Just returned from such a good holiday at Royal Palm. We were the only English there, but this gave us the opportunity to meet Russians, Turkish, Dutch, Belgiums and other Eastern European people. We all played and partied together. My heart sank when we were shown into our "suite" although clean, was very basic. Food excellent and the staff were friendly and alot of fun in the dinningroom. Have never been on a "cheap" holiday before, bit scary at first, as no one spoke English. Maybe this is what foreign holidays should be about, not just going abroad to be with other English people. Highly recommended

We are a group of four 23yr old girls who have just graduated from uni so we are a bit tight for money. We read the reviews about this hotel before we went as it was quite cheap and we were expecting to arrive in a grotty place with dirty floors and poor hygiene everywhere you looked, so we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived in a nice shiny reception and was greeted by a lovely receptionist who gave us all the info we needed for the week and escorted us and our suitcases to our room. He was a lot more helpful than the "rep", who seemed to just want outrageous sums of money out of us for trips/outings and so forth. DONT buy any off him, take a walk down teh beach and youll get whatever hes offering for a fraction of the price (ie turkish bath for 25lira for 2 people instead of 55lira for one person). He also messed up our return transfer and our taxi arrived 3 hours earlier than we booked it for. Food wise, lots of variation, if you like salad you're in for a treat, lots of it and lots of choice, always hot food there and stuff on the bbq at dinner, also if you are a fussy eater/have children theres chips and bread, we were all very happy. Couldnt tell you about breakfast as none of us made it down for it! Staff are absolutely lovely, cleaner girls very friendly, bar staff nice (although it took them a few days to warm to us), reception helpful. This is a hotel for everyone, families/couples/groups, and all different nationalities so you dont feel like you've walked into an english hotel. The pool was the only thing that needed a clean, the bottom wasnt too nice but poolside was fine, always bar staff collecting rubbish and empty cups. Get up at 9am if you want a sunbed though! No limit to alcohol/soft drinks, they didnt run out of anything. Entertainment in the evening was good and for both kids and adults, little prizes at the end. They arranged for us to get a free taxi down to the bars every night with no hassle at all, and on the first night came with us and showed us which bars to go to. All in all, very impressed, its not 200m to the bars, more like a half hour walk, but was nice to walk along the beach and watch the sunrise if you were on your way home at that time. As a group of girls, we thoroughly enjoyed it and we are thinking of going back for another week in August =] very much recommend this hotel!!

Just returned with 11 year old daughter from a one week all inc.. Apprehensive having read the reviews but can only say what a wonderful surprise. The hotel is under new ownership and they are also the management!! Staff could not be faulted in any area or department. The hotel has been totally refurbished, brand new!!
The food is extremely good for all inc. My daughter is fussy but was not compromised at any time during the week. Drinks in glasses, coffee in cups not china but as near as.
Two pools, plenty of sun beds but you do require your own towels!
Cannot recommend this hotel enough. Exceptional value for money

We went to royal palm area hotel for the first time in august, it was amazing! The staff were extremely friendly and very entertaining. The rooms were very clean and the maid came in every day with fresh towels and bedding. The bar was open all day with lovely ice cold drinks. We were very pleased with this holiday and hopefully will be going back next year. Best holiday ever!

First time in Gumbet and enjoyed the holiday. This hotel was excellent the rooms were clean and big and the maids came in everyday with clean bedding and towels. The staff were very helpful and friendly especially Lee and Ahmet who worked in the dining area. The food was of great variety and always served hot with the chef telling the guests what the dishes were. The drinks were okay but little choice but what do people want from a cheap holiday. The pool area was always clean with plenty of sun beds and the bar close at hand with good service given around the bar area. Will be returning back to this hotel this October having had a great time in June.

read a lot of reviews before we went to the royal palm, i can only say what a lovely hotel it is.we requested a balcony but did not get one, but for a small fee we were moved to a pool view room with balcony, the food was fine, im a picky eater, but never went hungry, my husband tried a lot of different things and was quiet happy although it could have been hotter. the staff were lovely except the one who worked the bar at times , he was very moody not a smile all week. overall it was lovely hotel nice location, would go again . but nothing there for children . we returned from gumbet last night (26/07/10) we really enjoyed our stay. i would say its not really set up for children. very clean and tidy in general and the staff were friendly and helpful.easy access to the beach but dont expect golden sand, its a bit like crushed shells. bacardi beach bar was the bar we used after the hotel bar closed at 23.00 ! very friendly. the hotel has a nice relaxed atmosphere and the buffet style food is very tasty and there,s plenty of it. on the down side, the choice of drinks is very limited, lager, vodka and a cocktail made from vodka and some other stuff and sprite. pepsi, fanta and lemonade plus some kind of squash type drink, also water in a machine but its just cold tap water (not great)
on the traditional turkish night avoid the raffle/lottery like the plague, its a rip off and all it is is a sales pitch to get you to a shopping centre. other than that is a nice relaxing place. enjoy

Just recently returned from holiday in Gumbet, Turkey. Pictures on the internet does not do the hotel justice! I was quite shocked upon arrival, hotel looks really nice, two nice large pools with a bar in the middle. Staff were extremely friendly and the food was really nice and tasty! Didn't really go out to eat as there was a variety of food everyday. Would definately return to stay at the hotel again and would definately recommend the hotel! Right next to the beach and along the main strip of bars. Bus stop rite outside aswel so can jump onto local bus to Bodrum. Top Place!
