Des Mines Hotel

I had a very good stay at the Des Mines hotel. It is located in the hearth of Pasis, within an easy walk to the Sorbonne (a couple of minutes) and Notre Dame (10 minutes). The RER station “Luxembourg” is very easy to reach, only 200 meters. Stop with the location and back to the hotel : the rooms are nice and quite , newly renovated with nice colors and new bathroom. Hotel Des Mines was one of the better hotels we stayed in throughout our 4 week holiday around Europe. Our room was modern and clean and the bed comfortable. The room and bathroom are small as is typical of hotels in Europe. The staff at the Front Desk were always willing to answer any questions we had, and offered advice about sightseeing around Paris. We were expecting a cramped space and who knows what else. We were suprised! We stayed in Room 202. It is set up for three guests overlooking the street. The neighbouring building was getting a face lift but we hadly noticed as we stayed from Saturday thru Tuesday. The room was spacious. I weigh 300lbs and the bathroom and lift accomidated me fine. The breakfast was continental and well worth stopping for. Ours was included. We were about 6 minutes walk to Luxemburg station on the RER and three to St Michel. Just got back last week-end after booking this hotel based on previous trip advisor reviews. We booked a double with bath and shower and requested a high floor over-looking the street. The hotel advised us that all doubles with bath over-look the courtyard at the back but they would try to get us a higher floor. When we got to our room (402) they had put us in a triple (double and single bed) on the 4th floor and it did over-look the street. Excellent for the price. Great location for metro ( same line as CDG airport ). Staff speak excellent English & are very helpful ( the 2 do not always go together in Paris.) Public areas very pleasant & breakfast looked good value at 8 euros. Our rooms were expectedly very small ( this is Paris ! ) but very very clean & well appointed, flat screen TV ( rooms so small needs to be flat screen ! ) telephone. Very little storage space so not great for travellers with loads of luggage ( would also be hard getting it in lift ) but ok for... more

We stayed during easter 2006 and it was a good hotell with reasonable prices. Metro RER nearby and walking distance to Notre Dame. The staff were nice and spoke good english, thay also gave us valuble sightseeing tips. We would be happy to stay there again some time.

We stayed at the Hotel des Mines in October 2005 and were very pleased. The hotel was clean and the staff was cordial. We were given a large room on an upper floor that would have been suitable for a family as there were two double beds. The bathroom was small but clean. The hotel is close to an RER Metro station and convenient for sightseeing. There are shops and cafes nearby. I'd happily stay there again.

Having stayed in 2 star hotels across Paris over a few years now, I can say that Hotel des Mines is one of the best in terms of both location and value for money. With the RER a short walk away, a mini grocery store almost next door, a pleasant walk to almost anywhere, from Montparnasse Tower to the Louvre and other museums it's location is second to none. I checked into this little gem with my husband and our married friends on 25 Feb 2006. This was after a tireless search on the internet for a good, clean, budget hotel in Paris. In fact, I had booked the double rooms a day before our departure and this was based on the good reviews on the Trip Advisor website.
