As soon as we arrived we were blown away by the hotels fab location overlooking the sea, as one waiter said "welcome to paradise". Staff very friendly and the rooms have a modern feel and all you need, good shower and comfy bed and fully working aircon. You are made very welcome as soon as you arrive. At breakfast on our first day we were so excited to find you can eat overlooking the beautiful views semi alfresco.Same place for the buffet meals too. I`m a veggie but no probs on the food front, plenty of salads, bread etc just check it out first as do have a habbit of sneaking meat in (ooer) even found a bread roll with something sausage like inside and stuffed peppers had rice and eventually found small bit of something meaty. Fish is very boney so be carefull with that too(as I discovered!). Great food though. You can eat at the beach bar in the all incl too which we didn`t realise at first. If want cocktails have to pay extra. The local vodka and gin is like rocket fuel, not that I was complaining. We did the jeep safari trip which we totally recomend but if you have mobility probs be ware that the meal is up a load of stairs but in lovely location next to a pretty beach. Jeeps not scarey at all, great to have the wind in your hair ,especially helped with our hangovers. Get to see some wonderfull places up in the mountains and you get a hamman at the end of the day.We were very tired after this long day but was well worth it. Not sure we would reccomend the Bodrum pub crawl but were glad we met a couple who were more our age etc, Nic and Adam we didn`t get to say bye to you so contact us through this site with ya email so we can send photos. The Gumbet bar crawl with a trip on a boat first was fun. Bars are loud but we went because as a couple it`s nice to go with a load of other people and visit bars you may not goin alone. Can find more quiter and chilled drinking holes. Went to Kos for the day but there is quite a bit of messing about in customs when you arrive at Kos so shortens your day. Still was worth as visit and less hassle in Kos shopping wise. All in all fab holiday and worth it especially if you can get a last min bargin like we did.
Fantastic Hotel!
I spend a few nights at this hotel when I was on a business trip and I loved it so much that I went back there couple of months later with my fiance for a holiday this time! It is the best AI hotel that I have even stayed in. It is not huge, only has 80 - 100 rooms, the food is amazing, the drinks are not watered down and never served in plastic cups! The staff work very very hard but are always nice and friendly. The A La Carte restaurant is perfect. You get approached by 3 different managers on your first evening, followed by the general manager, just to check if you are happy with everything! The general manager is always around and very friendly and is always ready to help if you have any problems. The water sports are of course extra but we found these to be of good value too. One last thing, the hotel is a 16+, so no kids allowed, which we found to be a bliss!! :)
When can we return?
What can I say? We went for just the week.. and two days in to the holiday we were wishing we had booked two! We had booked a minibus transfer with the agent and were at the hotel within 25 minutes which was great. The location of the hotel was very good, it was in the bay and was quiet and peaceful, but you had the beaches and lively nightlife of Gumbet and the shops one way and the other way the bars and restaurants of Bodrum 5 minutes, both either side of the hotel. The water taxis ran across the bay from the hotel to Bodrum marina every 10 minutes or so and was such a lovely way to make the journey, not only as it was cheaper than a cab, but far more relaxing! The Bodrum marina area was great, we had good fun haggling for "designer" watches and sunglasses and we also spent a couple of nights sitting on big flumpy cushions on the beach outside the bars, puffing away on shisha pipes whilst drinking cold Turkish beers. We took the Dolmus mini-buses to Gumbet and back, they were regular and cheaper than taxis, there's a Dolmus Stop outside the hotel. Gumbet reminded me a bit of Playa De Las Americas in Tenerife, all bright lights, bars, clubs and reps trying to get you in the doors, it wasn't AS BAD and we didn't get hassled too much, but the nightlife at Bodrum Marina was far more sedate! Back to the Club Voyage Charm, the rooms where basic, yet adequate, air-conditioned and comfortable, cleaned daily without fail and they served their purpose. The food was a little repetitive and not that imaginative at times, being vegetarian didn't help matters, but I never went hungry and their Beach Bar pizzas were AMAZING.. Plus Turkey is so cheap that although all-inclusive we did not begrudge a night out to eat here and there anyway. The hotel staff were fantastic, eager to please and good fun, especially down at the Beach Bar in the evenings, handing out hats, bongos and tambourines and dragging guests up on the dance floors! We were caught doing just so by the hotel "paparazzi" and bought up the photos to avoid anyone else seeing them! LOL! The photographer was very good actually, he takes couples (Or friends or families.) up on the cliff overlooking Gumbet every evening by appointment, to take a series of sunset photos, they come out really lovely (albeit a bit cheesy!) and are a nice memento, he wanted a fair few bob for his work, so we haggled with him and ended up buying the CD Rom with all the photos for a very good price in the end. There were plenty of excursions available, we booked a day trip to Kos on the Hydrofoil for a fraction of the cost of what the Thomas Cook rep was charging by booking with a small excursions agent in Bodrum Marina, he was nestled in a little place by the bars and shops and even offered a free day at the Turkish baths with our booking but we didn’t have enough days left. We also went to the huge market and had booked horse riding but it got cancelled at five minutes notice! What else can I say about the hotel? The "beach" directly outside the hotel was man-made with a jetty and no shore and may not suit everyone, but less than a minutes walk to the left was a proper beach. The hotel also had the obligatory stray cats, very sweet and one was very clever, a white one who lay on the jetty waiting to eat the fish that people were catching! We did feed the cats, naughty I know, but they were skinny and cute! I would definitely stay at this hotel again, it was our first time in Turkey, we found the country breath-taking, the people lovely and the hotel and staff most welcoming, okay, Club Voyage Charm wasn’t the Ritz but did the trick and we had no cause for complaint. Can't wait to go back there.
Great hotel, wonderful views.
Have stayed here several times now and think it really a great place to stay. Hotel has great views, try and ask for a seaview if possible, Staff very helpful. rooms are very clean and well furnished. lovely pool plenty of sunbeds, pool area is very well kept.. plenty of sunbeds on the private beach. Lovely man keeps coming around getting drinks etc. Great place to stay. Food very good plenty of choice, hot and cold buffet style . waiters are excellent helping to carry your food get drinks they work so hard and are always very polite and friendly, best we have ever had!! Well done to them all. A wonderful hotel in amazing setting.
Superb!
Where do i start. The transfer to the hotel was an experience and my wife and i thought here we go, is the hotel going to be this bad. But what a pleasant surprise we had. We entered into a very clean and smart looking reception and were shown to our airconditioned room within minutes. The rooms are fairly basic but more than adequate. The rooms are cleaned daily and are very comfortable. The next morning we went to breakfast and were amazed by the selections on offer. This continued for lunch and dinner. The waiters were the friendliest people we've ever encountered. The bar staff were just the same. And as for the animation manager, Chukky, well he made the holiday. A truly amazing guy who worked very hard and amazed us with his own entertainment as well as booked fun. The views we had of the bays of Bodrum and Gumbet from the top of the hill are breathtaking. We recommend this to any couple who just want a week away from the kids. Top hotel but more important top staff throughout.
Beautiful location
This was the first time we had been to Turkey and was not disappointed with the hotels location, nor with the hotel. The hotel is very clean, I never saw one piece of rubbish anywhere. The staff were hugely welcoming each and everytime they saw you, they made it very hard to leave as by the end of your stay, they feel like friends. Sorry it's now time for the down side. The meals were very "samey" which is a huge shame as you had a feeling the chefs had great potential. The breakfasts were, sorry to say awful, as a British traveller, we like something that suits our tastes, other nationalities were catered for with what seemed a huge variety - we Brits don't like salad at this time of the morning. I thought the beer and wine were great, very tasty and seemed to be of a very good quality - bottled water is always served with every meal without you asking for it - very nice touch. The entertainment was terrible, never have I ever seen a bar empty so fast when a guitarist came on - very sad. The constant rap music was not so bad, I just don't think they have realised it has a huge amount of swearing in the lyrics!! not what you want when you're trying to relax. There is a shortage of sun loungers and places to sunbath, we were forced to go on to the hotel next doors sunbeds, only to be frog marched off the very next day after they said it would be okay for us to use theirs, we resorted to cushions on the lawn - this was actually very nice. The staff were very accomodating in sorting us out with loungers. What would be nice at this hotel is somewhere comfortable to go on an evening, the chairs around the hotel are very uncomfortable, there are place to go outside that are comfy, you just have to be prepaid to be eaten alive by the mozzies and wrap up warm - it gets very cold at night. All in all, I feel way too much detail has been paid in pleasing our European neighbours and not enough on the British needs - real shame. I did enjoy my holiday, I'm just not sure I would stay here again - nor would I recommend it - sorry, only a few changes would make this a dream hotel.
Great hotel, but...
Great hotel, wonderful location, great, friendly, helpful staff (excluding management), but poor management resulted in a disappointing experience. We stayed the last week of the season and the week was spoilt by the apparent watering down to a farcical extent of almost all of the alcohol provided as part of the 'all-inclusive' deal. By the middle of the week, the wine on offer was little better than coloured water. After a mass protest by guests in the restaurant, the situation improved a little, but 24 hours later they seemed to be back to their old tricks. The food was also boringly repetitive, leading to the game - 'guess what colour sauce the chicken will be in tonight?' We liked the idea of 'adults only', although the almost constantly blaring rap music round the pool did little for peaceful relaxation and didn't seem to match the age group of most of the guests. Would we go again - probably, but not during the last week of the season.
Fantastic value
Had a great time at this hotel. The rooms are extremely clean (cleaned daily) and spacious, flat screen tv and power showers and the towels are changed every day. gorgeous views. The staff are super friendly and the food is really good - massive buffet selection. We went for 2 weeks and didn't get bored of the food. Cute little boat to Bodrum - 5 turkish lira. Fantastic value for money and a great place for relaxation.
Very pleasent hotel and location
I stayed at Hotel Charm, as it is known (there is a review under this name too) in May 2005. The hotel is modern and clean, rooms tastefully decorated with flat panel Tvs, fridges and airconditioning in the rooms, sheets and towels seemed to be changed daily. There are 3 bars, serving food and 'local' drinks pretty much all day ~ I think free alcohol was served till midnight. Tuborg, the beer on tap, was not the best, but was certainly drinkable. The buffet lunch and dinner was good with plenty of salads and cooked food, including kebabs and other meat cooked on demand at a grill most nights. The hotel grounds are nicely landscaped, and although there is not a direct walk to Bodrum town centre except by a hilly main road, there are boats that will take you across the bay for about (2.5YTL) 60p which run most of the day - a late night taxi home won't cost you more than about (10YTL) £4. The hotel is also walking distance to Gumbet. All in all, a really nice destination with a wide variety of age groups, but with a no children policy.
very nice now it's renovated
The hotel was better than expected. This was because of the rennovation that took place so the whole place looked (and smelled) very new. Nice and modern decorated rooms. Friendly staff on the beach and in the restaurant. The staff at the reception desk could learn a bit more english, so they can give bether answers & advice on questions. The taxi boat to bodrum is very handy. It's not possible to walk to bodrum on the beach. Gumbet is also very nearby. Realy make sure you have a room with balony and sea view. The first night we had a room on the back of the hotel without a balcony. The second night we arranged another room, with seaview and balcony, big difference, much better! No children so nice and quiet! Good place to relax. Didn't like the towel-reservation system on beach chairs. But everyone does it, so just go along and put your towel on the beach before ou go to breakfast. The annimation team really needs some more facilities.
