pretty basic
My sister, my 16-year-old niece and I spent 5 nights at Hotel Marvi, which we chose based on price and location. The price is half that of many other hotels in the tourist area, and the hotel is a 5-minute walk from the Ramblas and the Placa Catalunya. But there should probably be a caveat for American visitors: this place will not be to everyone’s liking. The quality of service depended upon who was working at the front desk. The Spanish-speaking clerks were quite nice, but the clerk who spoke the best English was rather snotty to us.... more
marvellous marvi
Stayed 5 nights at Hotel Marvi, & found it to be perfectly positioned for airport transfer, sightseeing, getting back after a night out. The staff are friendly ( if not overfluent in English) & helpful. Our room was at the front ( a bit noisy -but were given option of a back room when booking in) The hotel is very fresh & clean we had large bathroom (compared with other city hotel rooms). Would recommend this hotel to anyone- loved it
Little Gem
Went to Barcelona in late November/December as part of a 50th Birthday treat for my husband. We were kind of on a bubget as we had just arrived back from New York 3 weeks earlier so I was looking for good inexpensive accomodation. After searching loads of websites including this one I came up with the Marvi which is just a lttle gem.I would liken the accomodation as being on par with our Travelodge accomodation in this country. The Hotel is a stones throw from the Ramblas and the Placa de Catalunya so it is very central. Our room which was... more
Way beyond expectations
We booked the hotel after reading other comments on TripAdviser but we were still a little concerned about staying somewhere so cheap - how good could it be for £130 for three nights??? Wehad decided to risk it as for 3 nights we could have put up with it if it was terrible, and the central location made the risk worthwhile. What we found was way beyond what we had any right to expect - modern clean rooms, friendly staff and brilliant location. Breakfast is light as others have said but it's enough to set you up for a morning. Staff... more
Good, basic & central
We stayed at the Hotel Marvi at the end of Nov 2006 for three days. It was our first trip to Barcelona and we wanted to pack as much in as possible, so we chose a hotel that was close to the centre. We found the Marvi to be just what we were looking for - clean, quiet, and within walking distance of las Ramblas, and Casa Batlio (we are Gaudi freaks), and there is a metro stop just outside. We booked via Easyjet - no problems, and the airport bus stopped at Universitat, about 50 metres from the hotel. Breakfast was very basic, but the staff... more
Great location
The hotel was at the end of a busy street lined with shoe shops and Spanish clothing chains, just off Las Rambla and Placa Catalunya with the metro 2mins away. It's a great location for shopping til you drop. Our room was quiet as it didn't overlook the street and was clean and modern, the only complaint was the paper thin pillows (though I expect if asked maybe the staff would've provided a couple more). I didn't make breakfast on the first morning and my boyfriend reported it wasn't the best: 2 crispbreads, croissant and jam, so I opted... more
Great place to tour from
We spent a week at the Marvi, don't be put off by the small uninviting door which is the way into the hotel as well as the local tobaco shop! Up the stairs you find the reception - very modern, clean and bright, the staff there although didn't speak much English were helpful and polite. The room we were in, 102, over looked the entrance, and the busy road, which was great to stand on the balcony and people watch before breakfast! The room was quite spacious, modern and very clean, maid service came every day we were there.<br... more
Good hotel
Just returned from an 8 day trip to Barcelona and stayed at Hotel Marvi, just about 5 minutes walk to Plaza Catalunya. All in all satisfied with staying there. Breakfast is not the greatest, but ok. Otherwise nothing to complain about. Would DEFINITELY stay there again.
Hotel Marvi
We came back from Barcelona yesterday having stayed at the Hotel Marvi. Very clean central hotel, metro 15 metres away near las Ramblas. Breakfast poor. Would highly recommend for a city break. We payed £228 for 3 nights.
Good value
I stayed at Hotel Marvi for a week in the middle of July 2005. The hotel is clean, basic and situated nearby the University and 20 metres to the metro station Universidad. The location means that there are a lot of student cafés and restaurants nearby - and not that many tourists. At the same time the hotel is only a 5 min. walk from Plaza Catalunia and the Rambla. The room, we stayed in, was basic and not that cosy, but still good value for the money (about 100 Euros pr. day for a double room) - and very clean! The breakfast was not that... more
