Swallow Telford Golf and Country Club Hotel

Stayed here for 2 nights in March. The hotel was modernised in 2007 and the changes are great. The rooms are clean and modern with great facilities. The staff were really helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble. The leisure facilities are new and clean. I have nothing negative to add about this hotel I had some beuty treatmens and the staff made it a very relaxing experience. We ate in the bar and the food was lovely. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

My wife and I had a weekend stay and a generally relaxing time. The hotel has had a major refit and all facilities are now available. Hotel stay was over Christmas, therefore the hotel was empty. Hotel location was a slight problem, the GPS first sent us to the wrong location and signposting to the hotel could be improved. Greeted upon arrival at the car by member of staff Niall with an umbrella for my wife as it had started to rain ( not the usual 4star UK experience). On arrival for a Christmas party night it was very evident that the hotel was in need of a lot of finishing touches. Tiles in the swimming pool remained un-grouted, the sauna and steam room were not functional, electrical wires were hanging from the rear of the vanity units in the bedrooms and the windows were not correctly fitted creating a draft, keys had been lost preventing entry to the spa area, drinks were removed from your table if you had left them for more than 5 minutes, even if dancing. Excellent service, lovely room, fantastic breakfast. Ate in the bar which was good too...spa is not yet open but the overall hotel is being renovated very well (accomodation was all newly fitted and well appointed) I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel is nearing a £7m re-vamp and looks as though it will be the best hotel/course in the midlands. Any golfing parties who want to stay and play there in 2008 should book now to avoid the huge dismay on missing out! On the course side they is a great half way shop situated on the tenth tee which serves a large array of cooked items and coffee or tea refreshments. Please do not come to this place, I want it all to myself and my friends!

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel, the worst thing about it was the food, ie the evening meals. On the first evening as we were quite tired, we order snacks to our room and went to have a drink in the bar while we were waiting, the first drink was being served in a dirty glass, the barman was advised and he checked it and it seemed like he was going to say it wasn't dirty when we pointed out exactly what we were talking about. This hotel has just started a £5 million overhaul - which it is definately in need of. Stayed just for one night and although room was reasonable enough everywhere was riddled with damp - from the room to the stair wells (no lifts) to the leisure facilities. Luckily we had got a really cheap deal via lastminute which included breakfast - if we hadn't we would have had to pay £15 each for a full English - way too expensive. Although the hotel needed a refurbishment particularly the public areas and leisure centre, our bedrooms which had been refitted were both spacious with extremely comfortable huge beds. I stayed their with a friend and her children along with my two boys and our rooms were opposite the indoor pool ideal. Booked this because they are offering a special rate (£40) while hotel is being refurbished. When we arrived I asked for a room without too many stairs to it - the very cheerful and helpful receptionist put myself and my daughter into The Darby House. This is the old part of the building and is actually the Hay Farmhouse where Abraham Darby (builder of the famous Iron Bridge) lived - it is reputed he bought the house so he could see his beloved bridge down in the valley!
