We booked the hotel on the internet as it looked to be what we wanted and for most points it met our requirements. Our room was on the second floor and was not one of the recently modernised ones. However for our purposed it ticked most of the boxes. It was cleaned every... more

This is a modern hotel with nicely furnished and comfortable rooms which has a television but no Tea making facilities. The twin beds were large and the bathroom was excellent. We were on bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was first class except for the congealed... more

Huge Rooms Great Breakfast
We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights in July 2007. The hotel is about 5-10 minutes walk from Cascais centre and the town. This is a quite a walk from the train station so get a taxi when you first arrive. The rooms were huge. We got a lounge, balcony, kitchen, huge double room and bathroom all included in the price of a normal double. The breakfast choice was also very good with a choice of; fruit, pastries, full english, hams and cheese, cereal etc etc. This was all self service so good to fill up before a day out. We would definitely recommend going to Sintra for the day. This is 3 euros for a single bus ticket and is well worth it. The buses run from the 'shopping centre' by the train station. The bus from the airport to Cascais no longer runs so you will have to take a bus to Lisbon and a train out to Cascais. This is very easy as trains run every 20 minutes and take about 30 minutes to get to Cascais (cost 1.50 euros). We would definitely recommend this hotel and would have no hesitation returning to it.
good value place to stay
After having read the reviews here, I was basically happy to go to this hotel, but a little unsure about noise and quality of accommodation. My wife and I were very happy on both accounts. Maybe we were lucky and got quiet neighbours, but noise was not a problem. We had a twin room with sea view. Very spacious, clean and comfortable room, and the kitchenette area means you can make your own lunch if on a budget. The beds were OK, but mattress not the best around. I would definitely recommend you try and get a sea view room, as this also overlooks the pool, and the rooms on the other side have a very uninteresting aspect. The hotel does an excellent and varied breakfast - something for everyone. I really liked the location - a little out from the town centre (10-15 minute walk), but in a lovely area and only a ten minute stroll up to Boca do Inferno.
Great Hotel
My partner and I have just returned from a 7 night stay at this hotel. We usually stay in Lisbon but have been to Cascais before and as we wanted a more relaxed feel to the holiday we chose to stay in the resort this time. We thought the hotel was excellent. Realise that there may have been small rooms on other floors but ours can only be described as a mini suite. It consisted of bathroom, separate bedroom and a separate living area, also had a very large balcony with sea view. Granted hotel is not in the centre of town but it really is only a 15 mins (pleasant) walk into town. Breakfast was more than adequate. We didn't eat in the hotel at night as we preferred to walk into town (where there are some great fish restaurants, especially one called O Pescador), and finish the evening off with a hotel in the hotel bar (they make great Mojitos!!) All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.
Great hotel, with very friendly staff!!
The rooms are very spacious, with air conditioning in each room. Small kitchenette which is ideal to make snacks. Beds very comfortable, and the food at the the buffet wonderful, especially at breakfast. The staff are very friendly, are always want to help. The hotel is quite a walk from the town centre, because there is building work going on at the marinha (which means you have to walk a long way round). There is a nice park next to the hotel where you can enjoy a walk. Pool also very nice, and enjoyed the evening entertainment at the bar.
Great location but noisy rooms
The location of this hotel within walking disctance of the town is marvellous. The rooms are spacious and have a small kitchen that proved to be functional for breakfast and lunch. One side of the hotel faces the parking lot, which is where we were. The balcony was small and not very inviting. The bed was comfortable, but was the only place to sit besides the kitchen table. We found out on the first night how terrible the soundproofing was. You could hear your neighbours on all sides...from the snorer in the next room to the woman walking on the tile floor above, to the baby crying. The only way to avoid the noise was to wear earplugs. Most of our time at this hotel was used as a home base for day trips into Sintra (highly recommended) and to Obedos and Coimbra. It was easy to get onto the highway and be on our way every day. This is an older hotel that could probably use some updating.
Nice hotel in the lovely town of Cascais
Cascais is a gem of a location and this hotel is one of the largest in the town and was a pleasure to stay at. Rooms have like a mini kitchenette which is a plus allowing you to cook up a meal if you wanted to. Views over the sea are great, two swimming pools in a nice green garden area. Restaurant and bar were good and the buffet breakfast very varied. It's a little walk into the town, or their is a bus that stops just outside the hotel, along cobbled roads, past the marina and pas some very ornate buildings. Advise you to explore the area. You can walk along to Estoril along the promenade or take a train along the coast. Take a bus or taxi to the out of town shopping centre.
great stay great location
excellent location in a great resort. Friendly helpful staff , can't do engough for you. Had a great suite with seaview, Stayed 3 times and going back again in 2007
Noisy !
I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It was very full even in October. Full with golfing parties . Our room was on the first floor to the rear just above the main entrance . it must have been the noisiest in the hotel ! From 6.00am onwards bin lorries and coaches would arrive leaving their engines running for up to half an hour at a time . At about 7.00am, the noise from people pulling their golf trolleys along the pavement was like living next to a motorway . Sound insulation between floors was also not good . We didnt hear the nightclub as we were on the other side altho I did hear other guests complaining. The breakfasts were good but packed - we sometimes couldnt find a table . The reception staff were helpful and friendly . The rooms were large but basic with the bathroom tiles needing to be re-grouted . The pool area was well -kept , but the pool was just a simple circular one - not interesting enough to keep kids happy . We found the centre of Cascais an easy and pleasant 15 minute walk. Fantastic restaurants. All in all an OK hotel with some irritating points.
One of the Nicest Vila Gale'
These rooms were very large and had a kitchenette if needed. The locations was a short pretty walk to the Cascais city center and to the scenic Beach of the Inferno. This hotel was quiet at night and the people were nice but it is crowded in July. We had a lovely view of the sea and a pretty balcony. It was very close to the disco that out young travelmates enjoyed.
Near the Marina, and seafront
I have stayed in Cascais before and have stayed at this hotel before. I booked because of the convenience to the Marina - Myself and the wife like the Marina area. Hotel was about 110 Euro's plus Breakfast at 15 Euro's for Both Hotel building work has now been going on for what seems to be at least 18 months - it was quite intrusive in the morning at 9am and acted as our wake up call We went for the Oceanview - well you have to - the other side would have no view and be oppresive Check in staff friendlyish. Room on 5th Floor We strolled up the Coastline - you have to watch for the doggy stuff - this is a real pain when its darker. The hotel is ideally suited for the Marina - this place is wholly understated. Has an excellent Chateau Briand (sp?) steak place and you can see all the fish in the sea. Its clean and nice and the 10 minute stroll is nice past an old bridge and castle to get to the Marina from the Hotel You also then avoid having to go to Cascais in the evening - Cascais itself is nice enough during the day, but at night-time the restaurants are over-priced and the food of ok quality. Its about an extra 10 minutes walk past the marina area into Cascais The hotel rooms were ok - aircon worked fine. They had given us two singles put together and it was poor, the construction was too much and evening with the aircon the rooms felt stuffy. They are acceptable but bordering on adequate only - same standard as say an Ibis. I'm not really sure how this hotel gets a 4 Star- its more a 3 star at best. Its a family hotel, loads of Young children and a mixture of older people. Breakfast was a chore - it was so busy. The cooked food made you sick to look at it and the overall quality of everything was poor really Drinks on the evening are ok priced, maybe a little over-priced and the service is 'Not there' - World cup games on constantly You really need a car to appreciate the coastline and Sintra nearby - I dont think we will stay in Cascais again. Compared to say the Tivoli in Sintra (another 4* hotel) there was no comparison - Tivoli in Sintra 10* better - but it has no beach!! as its in the mountains The hotel opposite is much nicer - Farol Design hotel. But its very, very pricey at circa 300 Euro's a night and is right next to a nightclub - which can be noisy also. The views from this hotel are great, quality and food much better - again at a price. If you get the chance to stay on Business go for this one
