Vila Gale Village Cascais Hotel Reviews
" This is a modern hotel with nicely... "

This is a modern hotel with nicely furnished and comfortable rooms which has a television but no Tea making facilities. The twin beds were large and the bathroom was excellent. We were on bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was first class except for the congealed scrambled eggs. The swimming pool area was very pleasant. Our only major complaint was our room was on the third floor and the noise from the live music until 2 o'clock in the morning from the Beer garden kept us awake and the hotel was unable to move us to a sea view room where we would have been away from the noise. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the centre and a 25 minute walk to the train and bus station. hoever there was cheap local bus service every 12 minutes. The staff were generally very helpful except for one male member of staff on reception who had an attitude problem .Overall a good holiday except from the noise from the music .We did have one evening meal at the hotel but at 20 Euros each without drink we thought this was poor value. Very much a mix of nationalities as clients of the hotel.

2 o'clock-far too late- If it was midnight we could have couped with that. It did keep us awake and the staff said they were aware of the situation. Guests with a sea view at the back of the hotel did not suffer from this problem. Breakfast was a good choice although it did not vary from day to day. Only frankfurters and no proper sausages and only horrible scrambled eggs no fried or poached eggs were ever available. Otherwise everything was a very high standard. The swimming pool area had free sunbeds and towels to lie on were available from reception so no need to take your own.The beach was a 30 minute walk from the hotel and as it was located on a hill down to the town it would not be suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. The reception staff could generally be described as efficient but more formal than friendly. There is an excellent choice of reasonably priced restaurants some small and tucked away in the back streets. It is best to avoid the commercialised ones around the square where there are always hidden extras when it comes to paying the bill. Cascais is very quaint and it has a direct and cheap train service every 20 minutes to Lisbon. Also the bus service allows you to explore many of the other attractrctions without taking a coach tour which are usually poor value. If booking we suggest you ensure you get if if you have to pay extra as the noise at the front of the hotel was the only really big negatative of what was otherwise an enjoyable holiday.
