Huge room and great location, a very nice weekend retreat
from Nefi
The Stratford Victoria is the perfect hotel for anyone travelling by train. It is just a few minute walk from the station and also very close to all the centre of Stratford. My husband and I went mid November for a long weekend. Our room was very spacious and clean, and for the most part quiet except for the ambulances (it is really, really close to the hospital). Breakfast on Sunday morning was packed, but we were served promptly and the food was okay. It was absolutely pouring Sunday night, but the hotel was nice enough to loan us a huge umbrella as we had reservations at a nearby restaurant. The Victoria is a great base for seeing Stratford and surrounding areas. I would definitely recommend seeing Warwick castle too while in the area. It is fun no matter your age!!
Will be nice after refurb
from tibi08
The first thing to point out is that this hotel is currently being refurbished, and by the look of the photos on display during my stay, it will be very nice once this is done. I liked: - Spacious room - Excellent location for seeing Stratford I didn't like: - Expensive breakfast, got better for cheaper 5 minutes walk away! - Old, tired interior (although being refurbished) Currently a quite average hotel, however I would return once refurbished.
Excellent

Just returned from a 1 night stay at this hotel and cant praise it highly enough . Stayed there for my fortieth birthday with another 30 members of my family including 6 young children . Checked in on arrival at 11 o clock and everyone was checked in by 2 . Rooms were all very spacious , clean and very comfortable . Every member of staff we encountered we couldn t fault from reception to the restaurant manager . We all ate from a set menu which was very tasty and not one complaint from any of our party . We then spent the rest of the evening in the bar which altough not the biggest was very comfortable , and a special mention to our scouse friend behind the bar who looked after us . All in all a very enjoyable stay and will certainly recommend it . Well done to every one at the hotel who made it such an enjoyable stay , not easy with such a large crowd !
Fabulous from beginning to end

A friend and I had a girly couple of nights away to relax from children and everyday life, we could not have picked a better hotel. We arrived early evening and was speedily checked in to a room on the second floor. The room overlooked the front of the property and was spacious. It had two (slightly bigger than 3/4 beds) and plenty of room to move around despite having wardrobe, dressing table, two easy chairs and bedside cabinets. The room was clean and amply supplied with tea, coffee, etc. The bathroom was clean and not at all cramped. There were two windows in the bedroom with good views across the lawn. The hotel is situated within 5 minutes of the centre of town and a 10 minute brisk walk to the theatre or 15 minutes sauntering walk. There is plenty of parking on site surrounding the hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We had evening meals in with the price (which was very reasonable). The food was excellent and well presented and served. Breakfast was from continental through to full english, plenty of choice and plenty of it. Extra tea, coffee and toast was not a problem. The dining room was well laid out with inviting views. There was a conference taking place but there was no need to queue at the bar as a waiter kindly offered to get our drinks and we waited no more than 5 minutes. Staff were on hand to give advice and help in whatever way they could. I would recommend this hotel and next time I visit Stratford this hotel will be my first choice.
Had a wonderful time!
from Talluluh
We booked a 2 night stay for bank holiday weekend on a special rate of £169 for 2 people with breakfast and an evening meal in the first night, we upgraded to a four poster room for £50 and this was well worth the extra money. We had a much bigger room with seating area and the bed was very comfy. On the downside the bathroom was very spacious but could do with being upgraded and the room could benefit from air conditioning but still we were most comfortable. The food in the restaurant was great, the 3 course meal alone would have cost £60 plus ( so for what we payed for the whole stay ,this was exeptional), we expected to have to choose from a set menu but this was not the case, we have full choice of the Al La Carte menu. We could not fault the service in this establishment and only being a 2 minute walk from the centre of Stratford made our stay perfect. If your travelling by train this hotel couldn't be more handy as it is next to the train station (though no noise could be heard). This hotel is in decor quite typically 'Stratford' but is exactly as described on the website so if your expecting a light modern hotel you will be disappointed. I would definately recommend this hotel, especially if you can get a special offer rate.
Good Location
from Manchester_Dabs
Firstly, the hotel offers very good deals if you call and book direct. We booked a Double for 2 with breakfast for £84 which is considerably cheaper than expedia et al. The hotel is ideally located for visiting all main attractions in Stratford and is easy to find. Plenty of parking and a pleasant garden to sit and enjoy a few drinks. The standard single and double rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable - we had two double beds, TV with satellite (Sky Sports!) plus the usual kettle, trouser press, broadband etc. Bathrooms are basic but functional. I would advise against eating in the hotel, Stratford has an abundance of nice eateries. We did eat in the hotel, £26 for two courses or £31.50 for three courses, plus £24 for an average bottle of wine was somewhat pricey! The following night we ate in a small bistro near the Trinity Church, lovely 3 courses for £18 and the same bottle of wine cost just £14.50!!! The food and service in the hotel is very good, just overpriced and the decor is dated. The bar area is small but with modern plasma for sports. There is a spacious and comfortable seating area off the lobby, next to the bar where you can take your drink. Here there are complimentary newspapers and board games to enjoy. The breakfast is excellent - we ate on a bank holiday and went at 09:00 faced with a small queue - by 09:30 the queue was pretty long and people were getting annoyed. Food good though. There is a small gym with one of each machine, however I never saw it used - in addition there is a jacuzzi. Although there was a problem with the bill upon check-out (£35 appeared from nowhere) I would highly recommend this hotel.
Not the best - but there are probably worse

Stayed at the Victoria as part of a wedding party booking, I felt the hotel was over priced and should not have a 4 star rating, however from what I have heard it is the best of a bad crowd in Stratford. First impressions of the hotel are not too bad; the lobby is not particularly modern, but more “quaint”, in a dark and dingy kind of way. I suspect if there was some proper lighting in this area it might actually reveal a different story. Staff are very pleasant and the team dealing with the wedding party (including bar staff) were very cheerful and polite. Food was tasty, and breakfast was excellent with a good choice. I felt the Victoria really lets itself down when it comes to the bedrooms, they are very old fashioned and much like most of the hotel a little on the dim and tired side. What really bugged me was the state of the bathroom, very small, very grotty and in badly need of a refurbish. The water did not run away from the sink and toilet system took forever to refill after a flush. This kind of bathroom would struggle to make 3 star standards let alone 4 star. The windows in the room did not open fully and there was no air conditioning, how the Victoria got their 4 star rating I am at a complete loss. The room cost (including breakfast for 2) was £92.50, which I feel is a joke. I feel the Victoria is resting on its laurels like many of the hotels in Stratford, one day a real hotel will open in this town and then these dank, rip-off, hotels will feel the squeeze…but until then the Victoria will probably be the best option.
Champagne & Chocolates
from diralex
Have just returned from a one night champagne hotel break courtesy of my xmas present from work, & have had an excellent time. We arrived early but our room was available & very very comfortable. A large king size bed, home from home, with plenty of room & lovely & clean, with no grubby marks on any walls. A brilliant location within close proximity to all attractions. We asked for the champagne to be in our room for 6pm, and it was, along with a surprise box of chocolates-what more could you want! The breakfast buffet was plentiful & all of the staff very accomodating, would DEFINATELY recommend this hotel.
Cannot be recommended
from Lutecia
The whole building is damp and the romm was filled with smell of cleaning liquid. LIghting in the room was a horrendous fluorescent. Twenty people were waiting in a queue to get in the restaurant for breakfast at 9:00 on Saturday. Apart from the two only good things that the hotel is right next to the train station and the bar staff being very friendly, I found nothing good about the place.
Pleasantly Surprised
from Lindyloo1
We stayed in this hotel overnight and when we arrived it looked very pleasant from the outside. I was a little cautious as we had just returned from holiday in Hawaii and, of course, had marvellous accommodation. However, we were both pleasantly surprised. This is a lovely hotel and the room we had was lovely, comfortable and spacious with an extremely good bathroom which was spottless. Staff were very good indeed. We didn't have dinner there as we were already going out however we did have breakfast which was very nice. The location is great as it is only five minutes walk from the centre of Stratford upon Avon.

Was undergoing some refurbishment but we were not inconvenienced in any way. Was great for service although the bar was a little cramped (apparently now better access).
Was so impressed booked a work conference and this was well received by some demanding delegates. So good that they want to go back again!!
