The grounds and accommodation are beautiful, with well appointed common areas. We were greeted warmly by the staff, and shown to our rooms. Lunch trays were still in the hallway by late afternoon when we arrived. The cleaning woman was grumpy about being interrupted and she grumbled to the staff member guiding us as she packed up her cleaning supplies and left us to the room.
Our suite had one bed up steep stairs in a loft style room, and a pull out sofa bed. We were charged 70 extra pounds for a cot for one child, which I think is obscene. The shower and toilet were at the top of those steep stairs, as well. We were not notified that there was a wedding party at the hotel, and there was a lot of noise and commotion in the hallways around 2 in the morning, waking us all up.
We did use the indoors hotel swimming pool which was heated, small and lovely. The children loved running around and exploring the grounds the next morning. Breakfast was typical English fare. It was a lovely hotel, with a so-so suite, middling service, and sky high prices. I would not stay there again.
