Simply Fantastic

Myself and my wife visited this hotel as a retreat from our busy lives and this is exactly what we had!
However, it was not just the beautiful surroundings that made our stay so enjoyable. My wife, unfortunately experienced some health difficulties whilst we were travelling to the hotel, which, under any other circumstances may well have hindered the entire trip. At this hotel, the staff are so wonderful and prepared to go the extra mile my wife and I had a wonderful time and were made so comfortable my wife's health challenges didn't really impact at all. I would like to personally thank Rosie and Marek on particular who worked very hard at ensuring our stay was nothing less than fabulous!
Like anywhere, irrespective of beautiful surroundings, it's the people who make the essential difference and at this hotel they certainly do. If you haven't been here before, make it a must to visit. The staff themselves will ensure your stay is superb.

We really cannot praise The Welcome...

May 2007, Mr G Booth

We really cannot praise The Welcome enough; we had a marvellous stay last weekend.
The drive up to the hotel did make us feel as if we were arriving somewhere very special and sure enough when we got to the door the porter (Michael) looked after us extremely well.
After checking in (and they did take all our requirements for dinner and papers etc) Michael then showed us to our room from which we could see the gardens and the golf course.
The room was traditionally old fashioned but well appointed and very clean, also it was nicely warm on what was a very cool weekend. They also had the fire burning in the lounge which created a grand atmosphere in a fantastic panelled room.
Dinner was superb - I understand the hotel has just been awarded 2 Rosettes for food and service - it certainly deserves it!
One thing that has to be mentioned is the Spa - it must rate as one of the best in the country, great staff superb facility. The outdoor jacuzzi itself is worth visiting the hotel for. Well recommended!

The hotel was in a wonderful...

Apr 2007, Mrs C Sais

The hotel was in a wonderful location, we had a fantastic view of the garden from our room, however this was the only good aspect of the hotel!
From the beginning trying to book the room was a nightmare, the receptionist did not speak very good English and couldn’t tell us the room rate or type of room.
After a lot of hassle we finally managed to book the room, and we thought this was the end of the troubles.
On arriving the door man was brilliant however after checking into our room, the room was quite small, the quality poor and boiling hot!!
We could hear the guest in the room above us every time he went to the toilet! The walls were very thin. The housekeepers were really noisy all afternoon and in the morning, the phone rang three times while we were trying to rest, asking if we wanted to eat in the restaurant.
Then despite us putting a do not disturb sign on the door the housekeeper knocked on the door at 8am and when we didn’t answer tried to get in!
Although the bed was really comfy, we had a bad night sleep owing to the very thin walls!!
When we checked out, the receptionist didn’t even manage a smile let alone a 'good morning' or 'how was your stay'. What a disappointment!!
We were really looking forward to a lovely weekend away and came home early disappointed at the waste of a weekend and money!
Last year we staying in a McDonald hotel and loved it, for the same price 110 pound we stayed in a high quality large room! And the service was fantastic!
We will never stay in a Menz ever again!
