Vila Gale Ericeira Hotel

The Vila Gale is impressive before you even reach the door. It's an imposing large hotel in a traditional Portuguese style with green tiled roof.As most of the previous reviews have said, the location and views are spectacular. I booked this trough their website and I was not disappointed. The location is fab. We had a room on the 3rd floor with sea view and balcony, sunsets to die for. Staff very helpful and nice. Breakfast very good. The village is lovely and very portugese, lots of nice places to eat. Try the Barrossa Beef and Sea bass. There are lots of surfers, go and watch them at their beaches. My only complaint is, it is now going in the holiday brochures and others will find out about it.

We stayed at this lovely hotel last month (August 07) and couldn't be happier. We were a total of three families, with 3 kids under the age of 6. The views from our room were simply breathtaking. I spent 10 days in in this 4 star hotel in August 2007. The rooms were very clean but very small. There was an extra charge for a sea view and a further extra for a balcony (which only had sun in the morning). The lounge area was OK and entertainment poor. The breakfast was average, but the buffet dinner was to be avoided at all costs. The pools were lovely but cold and parts of the pool area quite windy as the hotel is built on a promentory. I have stayed in Vila Galé Ericeira many times in the last years. Since the first time I think they have always improved they service and food! It is one of my favourite beach hotels in Portugal because of the fantastic location above the sea. The rooms are good. The sea views rooms are bigger but both have enought space! Lovely location but we had our 12 year old girl with us and were told there was a kids club but it was non-existent. She was taken to a hut and given crayons and a sheet to colour! No entertainment suitable for kids at night either. Would not recommend this hotel for children. The staff on reception were rude to say the least. I felt they really didnt want to be there. Rooms were dark and got no sun despite being changed. Food good.

We had a lovely time at this hotel. The gym and some of the facilites were closed for maintenance which they should have made clear but apart from that it was very nice. The staff were great and it is a very clean hotel with nice food. The town is lovely- if you are after a cheap place to eat and drink then this is ideal. I stumbled upon the Vila Gale by accident in an internet web search, but this wonderful property turned out to be the highlight of a recent European trip. The Vila Gale is perched over the sea at the foot of the fantastic seaside town of Ericeira, and is a fully updated modern hotel in the shell of a 1920s-era resort property. Very clean and comfortable hotel. Rooms always thoroughly cleaned each day. Hotel is part of a chain in Portugal, with emphasis on being ecologically friendly so towels were replaced on request, etc. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. This was typical of all the Portuguese we met during our stay.
