The Royalist Hotel

Well where do I start, the car park was a building site, there were only 4 spaces which were taken, I parked amongst the builders material. When we check-in, we were not given correct direction to our room, no number or name was on our key. No help was offered to assist us with our bags, we had to carry them up 3 flights of stairs having returned to reception for the correct directions to our room. We spent 2 nights at The Royalist in May 2004. We picked The Royalist because of their highly rated 947AD restaurant (with star chef/owners) and Eagle & Child pub. Well, it seems The Royalist has been sold ... the new owners were remodeling the pub while we were there, but they didn't tell us this when we booked our room. While working on the pub they broke a gas line and had to shut down the restaurant both nights we stayed there.
