The Hare and Hounds Hotel

Lovely hotel, we had several rooms, most of which were in the main part of the hotel and all were of a good size and clean, we also had a suite in the new Silkwood Court which was even nicer, we did have a couple of small problems but as soon as we reported them they were sorted, the english breakfast was probably the best we have ever had and the choice was really good we also eat in Jack Hare's (the pub attached to the hotel) and this was of a very high standard.

The friendly and helpful staff tried hard to handle the unfamiliar and difficult positons that they were faced with - particularly in the Restaurant. The food and service was excellent but the delay between ordering and receiving the food, and in between courses was totally unaceptable, even if the 'kitchen was exceptionally busy" (the Restaurant was not that full - possibly 60% occupied). Firstly, if you are thinking about staying here then ring the Best Western call centre rather than the hotel direct. We were quoted £120 a night by the hotel but £70 by Best Western ! Lovely group of buildings and grounds in a nice part of the world. The hotel is very attractive and obviously well kept, the only minus would be the bucket of cigarette ends outside the entrance. We booked an overnight stay via the "Best Western" website. This was a far better hotel than the price suggested. Our apparently brand new looking room was in the annexe to the hotel and considering it was supposed to be a "standard" room was spacious and quiet with a large shower and separate bath . (Yes the bathroom fan was noisy but a note in the room informs you that these are being replaced). A very goodlooking place with loveley well kept grounds,everywere in the hotel was kept nice and clean some nice lounge areas and a a nice bar at the end of the building which served local cotswalds real ales and good bar food. our room was large with a neweley refitted bathroom being at the front there was some road noise but in didnot bother us, a very tasty buffet breakfast was served ,all the staff were nice , handy for tetbury which is about 3 miles away.

Lovely Country House Hotel. Excelelent Food and Service in the Westonbirt Restaurant. Dinner was from slightly limited A La Carte menu but very good and buffet breakfast was outstanding.

We stayed here for 2 nights 3/4 Nov 2006. We were in a cottage next to the hotel which was fine, although a bit cool for my liking. the Hotel itself was very nice and the Dinner and Breakfast was excellent - although they were a bit short staffed when we stayed. The personnel were very pleasant

Spent a very comfortable night at the Hare and Hounds. The room was huge, with a stone fireplace and "antique" furniture. The gardens are lovely (we watched wood pigeons nesting from our room) and breakfast was plentiful and well prepared. We had dinner in the bar rather than the resturant - above average for pub food and excellent house wine. The only down side is that the decor is a bit worn and the place smells a little of old carpet. A bit too much "Period Charm". All in all not cheap, but worth the price.

Spent a lovely weekend in the area. The hotel is very nice, a little pricey but its the south....we were part of a large group of people and had booked 10+ rooms, ranging from singles to full family suites. The staff were polite and friendly and the food quite nice. The only moan I have is about what I think was the head waiter or similar. In the evening he ran the bar, served dinner and then next day was there to serve breakfast, a bit like the Bates Motel!!. We stayed for Christmas 2005 at the Hare and Hounds near Tetbury in Gloucestershire. Their four night package for £450 each included full board, with extremely good four course lunches and dinners (far too much food!). On Christmas eve, we were joined by local carol singers and a brass band playing Christmas music. We had a champagne reception and a quiz on Christmas day, and an entertaining race day in situ for Boxing Day.
