Infante De Sagres Hotel

We were stayed in this hotel during the world cup when Portugal lost to Germany. The location next to the main square was excellent and a great place to see the portugeese celebrating their loss. The hotel is the type of place that you would normally pay to visit as a tourist attraction! Old world grandeur and faded charm. The public spaces are amazing with traditional decor and styling. Public areas very stylish and luxurious. Standard double room was a little small compared to other 5 star hotels we have stayed in. Excellent dining room and buffet breakfast. Hotel is a good 15 minute walk to the river and port lodges.

Hotel Infante Sagres, Oporto Have just returned (March 06) The hotel lobby, lounge areas and restaurant have been beautifully maintained and are full of character and charm. However, it is unfortunate that the standard of the accomodation is not so luxurious. We booked a Superior double room which we found to be very plain, ordinary and small. Stayed for long weekend in May 04, public areas of hotel are lovely, dining room stunning with groovy chandeliers. Service was poor, untrained staff concentrating so hard on keeping one arm behind their backs that they completely forgot essentials such as tea/coffee. Everywhere was spotless but our room was a big disappointment, very ordinary and no better than many lower rated establishments. Old school style. Very elegant common areas. Staff extremely friendly and helpful . They speak fluent english, a plus in Port. Excellent location, center of town near both the shopping areas and the river front. The food at the restaurant was great. This is not a neat modern hotel, but a charming time capsule well worth a stay.

It is an old hotel, maybe 50 or 60 years old, I believe recently renovated. If you like old style hotels, but with great furniture, and not huge spaces this is it. Rooms are small, and even on the 5th floor (top), if you face the square, you can hear the cars. Breakfast in really nice, beautiful dining room and service. Staff was very nice. Location is good.

Just returned from a long weekend in Porto. Hotel reception staff were very very friendly and went out of their way to give assistance - even at 1am when we enquired about rail schedules!!! The Room was nice and comfortable although I would not rate it as 5 star - as the usual 5 star touches were missing.... The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the river where you can cross the river to the Port houses.

We stayed for a long weekend 12-15 February 2004. This older hotel is very well situated in central Porto, within 100 metres of the Liberade Place (where stops the Aerobus from the Airport - fare EUR 2.60) and 300 metres of Sao Bento railway station (where start the trains to the 3 principal towns to visit : Guimaraes, Braga and Amarante). Loved this hotel. Our room was beautiful...the hotel was beautiful...the dining room was beautiful. Our breakfast was included in the price of our room and it was absolutely gorgeous, as was the impeccable service. We did not have dinner there because we wanted to get out and experience more of the city, but if dinner was anything like breakfast, it must have been wonderful. We just recently returned from a 3 week vacation in Portugal. This hotel was the best that we stayed in. It is absolutely beautiful, close to everything, and the staff were incredible, attentive to every need! Truly first class. We got a great rate on our room through the Hotel Store voucher program. Well worth every penny even at regular price. Truly a must stay!!!
