Express by Holiday Inn Gloucester South Hotel

The Holiday Inn Express is a standard chain hotel near a business park on the ring road south of Gloucester. We've used it several times as a convenient place to stay when visiting family in the area. The rooms are small but very clean. Bathrooms have walk in showers, far better than stepping into a bathtub, and a separate toilet. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful and I've overheard them helping other guests with restaurant reservations and information on local places of interest. Couldn't find any fault with hotel. Clean modern rooms, clean all areas,. Breakfast adequate. very helpful staff. Bumble Bee pub next door - fab food. recommend for a short stay.

If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room away from the main road where you should not be troubled by noise. This hotel is new and the rooms were very clean, continental breakfast was included in the price and was good value for money. The hotel reception staff were some of the nicest and friendliest I have ever met. No restaurant, but Pub nearby and hotwl allows you to order takeways and will even provide crockery and cutlery

My husband was traveling on business, my kids and I for pleasure. This hotel is definitely set up for business travelers. Everything appeared new, clean and in working order, except, notably, THE LIFT. We were there 3 nights, and the lift was broken during our entire stay. My husband was having knee problems but didn't want to be fussy about being on the 2nd floor, so my kids and I drug his bags up and, 2 days later, down the stairs. We stayed here for one night, but it this hotel was located in a country field and not on a trading estate probably would go back. Lots ot parking spaces and checking-in was very friendly. Informing us off our breakfast times, but also telling us the lift was broken and that they had put us on the 1st floor. The receptionist asked if we needed help with out bags, which we didn't. Situated 3 miles from motorway and right next to the park and ride for Gloucester, this is a good budget choice for one night in the area. Reception and check out fast and friendly. Room functional (some rooms have traffic noise), but clean and fully equipped. Being an Express, very limited menu and breakfast is ok but for £49 B&B a good deal all round. The pub next door does reasonable pub grub until 10.00pm if you don't want to venture far after check in.

We wanted just a quiet weekend away a nice break from the norm. We had just that. We arrived at around 5pm on Saturday and were greeted by efficient reception staff. Our room was spotless (and we are fussy) well equiped - tea/coffee facility, hair dryer, trouser press. two comfy chairs and not that we use it but playstation, t.v. movies etc. internet access. Not a lot to say, it is straight out of the holiday inn express box, or is it the express by holiday inn box? - No idea what the difference is, but this one is clean, bright and inviting, a good bar and despite other reviews on the same hotel having a different slant, the breasfast is what they say it will be, limitless continental breakfast of a good range (very good I thought) of pastries and breads and some cold meat and fruit, it's free and filling. We stayed at the HI Express for one night. The room was clean and comfortable with nice bathroom. I would advise getting a room away from the road as there is quiet alot of noise. There is the Bumble Bee pub across the carpark for dinner which is good. The big problem was breakfast. We arrived for the included buffet breakfast and had to clear a table.. There were no clean plates, cups or cutlery. When we eventually did get a plate there was no food to eat! Staff were off hand and did not offer any apologises.

A typical Express by Holiday Inn hotel, next to the Bumble Bee Pub (good quality pub food at a reasonable price). Plenty of car parking, choose your room carefully, noisy over the car park and noisy facing the roundabout. Good breakfast usual choice for HIE users. Staff were reasonably helpful and cheerful, despite full hotel. Rooms lack air conditioning (and no fan) and for business travellers an iron would be useful. Would stay again
