We arrived here, a family of 4. We went for a drink in the hotel bar and we were charged 12 euros for 2 drinks, a pint of Sagras and a Vodka and tonic. The barman served a bottle of tonic which was already open and was completley flat. I pulled the barman about this and... more

Only ended up here following XL crash (originally meant to be in Zante) so there was an initial disappointment but we soon cheered up. Apartments were great. Wide range of kitchen equipment, spotless & regular cleaning. TV with BBC channels. Food - typical all inclusive... more

We went for a weeks break as we did the year before, things hadn't changed we still had a fantastic time. The apartment was clean and well looked after, the food was wonderful and we just had a very relaxing week. The hotel staff were also very courteous and friendly. The... more

Stayed at Balaia for two weeks self catering. 2 adults 2 teenagers. The hotel is most definitly a four star, as it has everthing you could want in a holiday. As we were self catering, cannot comment much on the food, but from what we saw the food defintily looked delicious... more

Clean, modern hotel. Stayed all-inclusive. Spotless restaurant, although food was bland and not much of a selection for children. Best to go early to restaurant, from 7pm, as after 8.30pm it gets very crowded and you have to wait in a long queue. Poolside snacks very... more

We had a 5 day stay here at the beginning of march 2008 so we were not expecting much entertainment and facilities to be running. Here are the positives, its clean, furnished and decorated to a high standard, loads of space in the apartments, very good kitchen facilities, ... more

Just got back from 3 day at this hotel, Well where do I start? Room was of very high standard. Food was poor 9 out of 10 times it was cold and when complained about this was told we can put it in the micro wave for you ( I don’t think so ). Entertainment daytime and... more

Second visit to this excellent hotel! Only 2/3 years old, it’s still feels new although the facilities have improved on last year. 1 BEDROOM APARTMENT: Good sized rooms with balcony. We were on the 3rd floor this year, but can recommend the 5th floor for great views over... more

Located away from the hustle and bustle of town yet surrounded by rolling landscaped hills with views down to the sea. We had a very enjoyable stay at the Balaia. The interior decor is very contemporary; the apartments are very well fitted out to the highest standard. ... more

Brand new Aparthotel, opened in September. No studios we stayed in a one bed apartment - beautiful fittings and swimming pool etc. Gadgets were so up to date we had to ask how to switch them on! Really the only down side was that it's about a 15 min ride out f the... more

Overhyped
After reading the "official" write ups we were expecting a fantastic place. Myself and my Wife went for our first holiday without kids. The rooms are nice and the staff are friendly ...with the odd exception. It's more like a 3 star than a 4 star hotel. The food was absolutely terrible and after a few days the smell of Garlic from the Restaurant became overpowering and unbearable. The food was stodgy and unimaginative. To make it worse sometimes the owner will appear and have the best of Steak or Lobster served to him while... more
Poor food
The initial overview of the Hotel on arrival at the reception was not as expected from what we had seen in the brochure. It looked more like a poor 3 star hotel. When we checked into our apartment we were pleasantly surprised at the high standard of accommodation. The apartment was cleaned daily. We were All-inclusive, which was a big mistake. We have stayed at many All-inclusive Hotels, and this was by far the worst!! The food was awful. There was very limited choice. The food was generally overcooked and tasteless! The Hotel was very... more
wonderful
Very impressed. My husband and I loved this hotel, it was very clean and tasefully furnished, well deserved 4 star rating. The kitchen contained everything we needed and again it was very clean (as both my husband and I are chefs this came up to both our hygiene standards). It looked like most of the utensils, saucepans (everthing in fact) were new. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpfull. We paid 3 euros a day and a returnable deposit of 15 euros for the safe and 50 euros returnable deposit for the controlers for the... more
Absolutely loved!
My boyfriend and I stayed here in september for a week and we absolutely loved it. The apartments were amazing. They were very tastefully decorated and very spacious. The bedroom had loads of cupboard space, and my only criticism was the twin beds being pushed together instead of a double bed. The bathrooms were also large, with shower, bath, toilet, beaday (however you spell it, but useful for wet swimming stuff) and double sinks which was nice, but no lock which was a bit annoying. But they were much larger than you'd... more
What a bargain
A client of us booked me in this hotel. As written before: It is a bit remote located, but what a spacious rooms. Absolutely a lot of space, including a full kitchen for people that want to cook themselves. I was here for one night on a business trip, and since this is clearly a vacation hotel I only can share my one night experience: Good things: - Spacious rooms (Suites) - Modern style rooms - Daylight coming in on both sites of the room - Nice large swimming pool Bad things: - Concrete floors creating a... more
Lack of advertised facilities
We have just returned from a one week stay at the Balaia Atlantico. We were an all male group of 4 leaving behind our wives for a week of golf. We booked two B&B apartments having upgraded from S/C as it was only an extra £2 each per night with the site we booked through. We organized our own flights and car hire and were looking for a quiet base with specific facilities namely a proper full size snooker table, a sauna and preferably table tennis. Both this hotel and it’s sister one the Paraiso Albufeira were advertised as having these... more
Lost identity!!
We have just returned from a two week all inclusive stay at the hotel. There are a few bad points but a lot of good points but the hotel needs to decide what it wants to be as it cannot be financially viable for the investors or owners in its current state of confustion. The negative points are; 1. Too far from the centre of the resort - the courtesy bus stops at about five thirty so a trip into the centre is a taxi ride after this time. 2. Entertainment - this is very sparce and only runs for three days per week in the... more
Stylish furnishings, bit noisy at times, would stay here again
We stayed here for Xmas 06, we had a car and knew we'd need it. Did have a slight worry on our way there as the Hotel is part of the "Vale Navio" development, and if you drive in one end of it as we did you pass lots of empy, run down, graffitti covered houses and hotels. Having said that, the hotel is at the far end of this, and very nice, and if you come in on a tour of follow the right directions, you'll probably never realise how close you are to all that! Over Xmas the weather was sunny 7 out of 8 days, with the average temp about... more
Great Place
Stayed at the aparthotel self catering 15th to 22nd November. The apartment was superb, clean and well maintained. The only downside was that the ceramic hob was a little erratic. The staff at the front desk were more than helpful in any query. If you go to this unit watch the following points 1/ They take a cash deposit for safe and remotes for air cond. and tv (50 Euros and 15 euros for safe) 2/ The Frequent bus service is not bad but not that frequent 3/ The hotel is about 9km from the main centre. 4/... more
If only it was closer to town
We stayed at the Atlantico during late October/early November, for 10 dayswhich I think that that was sufficient. I would not have enjoyed it in the summer as with over 100 rooms it must get very crowded. While we were there the weather was somewhat changeable - we had rain at some time during every day. We were on all inclusive and I do agree the food could have been much better but even saying that there was something for everyone because starting with soup and ending with coffee surely no one could go hungry. We used the courtesy... more
