The Manor House Hotel reviews

Dec 2010, wellard

This is a lovely hotel in Moreton-in-Marsh and we tried their Christmas Special and enjoyed it very much. The hotel was warm and comfortable; the staff very attentive at all times. It is quite a highly rated hotel so we expected a high standard but our 'superior' room... more

A Tale of Two Stories
Stayed here for just one night in a four poster room with dinner included. After the hotel was flooded a great deal of refurbishment must have taken place throughout the hotel's ground floors. So the reception, library, bars and restaurants are all beautifully appointed, tastefully done and in keeping with the overall feel of the lovely building. The garden is also very pretty and the bistro restaurant in the conservatory looked good too. As you go up the stairs to the first floor you can see where the tide water must have stopped,... more
Historic Beauty
Unfortunately we only got to stay here for 2 nights, but we thoroughly enjoyed them! We had a four poster room that overlooked the garden. I found the room interesting. You had to walk down a couple of steps and turn the corner to get into the bathroom. While I found it neat and historical, I suppose some people may not like the eclectic experience of an old hotel. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The hot water was out on our last morning at the hotel. I called down to the front desk and they explained that they had a call... more
Peaceful Retreat with efficient service
We spent a night during the Easter weekend and had a lovely stay. The estate is well looked after and their driveway welcomes you with a touch of high-class taste. Receptionists as well as bell staff are friendly and efficiently takes you to your room without the dull credit card verificaiton/card inprints. Our room was one of junior suites on Main house, which is spacious and has good selection of old English furniture. We also tremendously enjoyed the dinner at the main restaurant - food was quite original, well... more
Lovely place - just needs sound proofing!
We had a lovely 2 night break with the kids here - the restaurant was great, food well matched our expectation and the room was lovely - comfortable beds for all, plenty of water pressure in the shower and spotlessly clean The only drawback (which didnt bother the kids) was the noise from the bar below us - a shame - but I guess expected in an old building
Lovely building but didn't sleep a wink
Went for a mid-week break including one dinner last summer. The hotel is full of antique charm and has a pleasant garden but I cannot recommend it in the summer (unless they've since installed air conditioning). Basically the room we were allocated was on the first floor, very small (albeit nicely decorated with sumptuous fabrics) and overlooked the kitchens. It was ferociously hot and when we opened the window to get some air discovered there were very noisy kitchen air conditioning units right outside. We asked to be moved only to be shown... more
Friendly Staff. Nice Break
My wife and I were lucky enough to win a Christmas break at the Manor House Hotel on eBay. The break included accommodation in a standard twin room for two people and all meals and entertainments whilst we were there, arriving on Christmas Eve and leaving on December 27th. We had an excellent time and found the staff very helpful and friendly. The chef was especially accommodating (as my wife has many food allergies) and produced some lovely meals for both of us and, importantly, she was not made to feel different just because she had... more
loved it!!
We really loved this hotel, the room was pretty and very clean, the service was good, the hotel has a non smoking policy which is great for non smokers. The restaurant was very trendy, the only thing i was a bit dissapointed with was the dinner it comes in very small portions & has quite a strange menu (sweetbreads, frogs legs etc) which is fine if you like that!! Breakfast was lovely though, overall a great romantic getaway & we will be returning..
Disappointing! Don't recommend.
After reading good reviews, we were truly disappointed with this hotel. The hotel has some nice decorative intentions, but overall is very old, very small, and smelly. Our room was below average and the bathroom worn down. We really had to duck our heads down walking up and down the stairs. The bar has old stinking carpet. The restaurant is modern but the food was average and overpriced. The service on top was the worst, the front desk completely cold and rude. No help at all. Also, they asked us which newspaper we would like to receive,... more
great for a special occasion
Beautiful old hotel with plenty of character - ( scary pictures, squeaky floor boards etc) Superior bedroom & public rooms all well maintained. Friendly, helpful staff. On a main road but not noisey. Lovely gardens. Restaurant modern and well designed. Food content and presentation extravagent - looks like a work of art. Unusual mix of ingredients & flavours on each course but we thought the chef pulled it off as it all tasted delicious! Good cocktails in the bar. Not cheap but great for a special occasion!
Lovely but not for those with big appetites!
Have just returned from a one-night stay at the Manor House, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The hotel has a nice mix of traditional old (beams, uneven floors) and trendy new (restaurant and bar area) although for a 3* hotel, it is pricey and in some areas, a little frayed at the edges. We booked directly on-line, paying £245 for a Saturday night superior double with dinner in the Mulberry restaurant. The room (no 14) was spacious, with a large walk-in wardrobe, large clean bathroom with Molten Brown smellies and seating area. Although we... more
