My partner and I have just returned from an enjoyable weeks stay at Hotel Petros. Although the hotel was nice, I was expecting rather more having read the previous reviews. A lot of comments have been made about the hard beds and, yes, we did get 2 very flat pillows, but... more

Today got back from Hotel Petros, this was a basic hotel, with a boring basic breakfast, the coffee machine was old and leaked, whilst the orange juice was really squash. It was slightly out of the way and although a 20 minute walk to the beach, this seemed much longer in... more

We went to Zante for two weeks and had a brilliant time. We stayed at hotel Petros which lived up to all the reviews we read about it - a really friendly place, good location, and very quirky bar man! All the staff were great. Good clean rooms though, although the bathrooms... more

Hotel Petros is a great hotel, being just a short stroll to the bars and clubs, it's close enough to the nightlife without having to suffer the noise. It's also a bit of a walk to the beach, but the hotel pool is lovely with a section just for the kids, plenty of sun... more

Lovely Little Hotel
My girlfriend & I stayed at the Hotel Petros at the end of May this year & I have to say we loved it !! The rooms are basic but kept very clean, the shower works fine & the staff were very friendly (especially Stefanos & his penchant for giving away free shots & making up drinks!) We hired the fridge for use & found it didn't work, but the staff had it fixed very quickly which was nice (& the fridge was silent!!). Breakfast is bassic but edible, lunch food & evening snacks at the hotel were lovely & good value, but we always ate out. Beware, sometimes the music from the bar can be a bit loud, but we only experienced it once & that was the influence of a few guests requesting it be turned up louder which Stefanos didn't feel he could refuse, but at a certain time (not too late) he will insist it get's turned back down..... There's not much for kids which suited us as we wanted somewhere a bit quieter, away from crowds. Nice 5 min or so walk to Tsilivi town so quite close, (but far enough away that's it's very peaceful at night!) where there's lots of nice bars & restaurants, again, nothing major in terms of clubby places but again, that suited us perfectly. I wouldn't suit anyone who was looking for an 18-30's style holiday or perhaps someone who doesn't want far to go to the beach (the Tsilivi beach was about 15 mins walk & wasn't great, so we spent the week by the pool !!) but if you want a nice, relaxing & quiet holiday then this is highly recommended !!
great hotel
Just back from 2 weeks at Petros. Very relaxing. The hotel room was a good size and very clean as was the pool. The staff are very friendly and make you very welcome. Breakfast was the norm, got you through to lunch time and the excellent snacks at the pool bar, along with the banter of Stefanos!!! Have to say Athna's cooking is excellent. Saturday nights are entertaining, its the night Stefanos has a drink and he likes giving out the freebie shots!!! Had such a good time we have already booked for a week in September. Found some great local restaurants as well. A visit to valentinos Castle is a must, great food and the owners are lovely. One piece of advice if you are booking through the internet go direct to the hotel, its cheaper and they include AC, fridge and Safe in the price.
Girls 30+ Loved it!
What a little GEM! I found this hotel on the web and it's website lived upto it's description and photographs...very rare at times. Myself and four girlfriends wanted a relaxed, quiet, clean, respectable Hotel and this is just what we got. It was the perfect place for us, with regards to being quiet, not too many rooms booked, friendly and welcoming staff, clean and spotless rooms/pool/toilets etc. I dealt with Mary who owns the Hotel and is very friendly and accommodating. It was so peaceful (with no children around - no offence) we even got to have our own cd's played at the pool. Stephanos, Head Bar Man made everyone welcome and was very informative about the area and island. Tsivili town is a very short walk from the Hotel and there is something for everyone there. Some fab restaurants with great food & wine. We most definitely are going back this year or May again next, so I can only recommend this as a great place to stay. I believe May and Sept are the quietest times, so is ideal for us. Also next time we shall explore the island and hire a car for a few days and perhaps try a couple of trips. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
Stay at the Petros
We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Hotel Petros, the standard of cleanliness was very good and the room sizes were great. The bathroom had a good shower and unlike previous experiences had a shower curtain and a bracket for the shower head. Unfortunately we weren't warned that the pool bar closes down early and this closed on the Saturday after we arrived. The reception area then opened up a bar, but any service was carried out by the reception staff leaving the desk and going to the bar, so there was no atmosphere and no snacks either. The hotel next door closed completely after our first week and then spent our second week using steam cleaners to clean all the pool area furniture and also equipment that they brought out from the inside, unfortunately our room (209) looked over this area and we couldn't enjoy the balcony because of the level of noise. The island also starts to close down and several restaurants closed whilst we were there and the topic of converation amongst tourists was mainly around how disappointing it was that the area was so quiet. However we did enjoy the Greek restaurants, particularly the Akropolis, the Apollon and the Florentyna. The other surprise was how cold it became in the evenings and first thing in the morning, so take warm clothing if you're visiting in October. On the Tuesday before we left we experienced an "earthquake" with after tremors carrying on up until the Thursday morning, this was really frightening and the staff at tht hotel were woefully inadequate to allay any fears. Whilst this may be "normal" for them it they should be able to reassure guests and provide information for them and they were unable to do this. We also were to blame for not researching the island enough and were disappointed that there was little to do in the day unless you enjoy the beach or pool.
Late Break
Booked a cheap break, never been to a Greek island before. Very nice hotel, extemely laid back - not the normal push and rush for breakfast. Small and friendly accomodation. Not a brilliant breakfast selection but ample. Very clean. Nice walk to the local town to the bars restaurants shops and beach. Overall stay very relaxing. Would visit again.
A very nice and freindly hotel !
Just returned from Zakynthos, after a week at the Petros Hotel with our 1.6 year old. The hotel is situated on the quiter part of Tsilivi, not at hearing range from all the tourist shops, pubs and tavernas - but defiantely within short walking distance. The walk to the beach takes about 15 minutes of a nice strol along the village. To the hotel itslef: Nice and clean rooms, had enough room even for the baby cot although maby the bathroon could use some more shelvs or closets. The staff is very friendly and eager to help. Nice pool (+children's pool and litlle playground with beach toys scattered around). The one minus we found was the overpriced food at the Pool Bar and lack of vegetables at breakfast. Since we are not British we missed our tomatos and cucambers in the morning. Other than that our impressions on the island: September can be tricky with the weather. We had a couple of rainy and stormy days. The coffee on the Island is disgusting. Everything is extremely expensive even of season - and it's simply a crime to charge 6 to 8 euros for the sunbeds and umbrellas at the beaches! We recommend to rent a car for at least 2-3 days and explore the rest of the island. Great scenery and beaches. ENJOY
Great Hotel
What more could you want -nice hotel and location, helpful and friendly staff and fantasitc rates! We booked direct by telephone and the hotel confirmed by emails. Excellent service. The first hotel I've ever stayed in where you didnt have to get up to beat the dreaded early morning risers for a sun bed! A very short walk (2 Mins) to the town area which had a good choice of restaurant all very reasonably priced. The beach is around a 15min stroll and is great for kids, shallow clear waters. Would definatly go back next year.
Good base for a holiday
This is my second visit to the Petros Hotel Tsilivi. We have just arrived back from two weeks at the Petros where, yet again we had a lovely holiday. The Petros is a small hotel and the rooms and communial areas are kept very clean, linen and towels are changed around two times a week. You stay on a bed and breakfast basis only, the breakfast is typically greek and the waitress was constantly topping everything up even at 9.20 am when breakfast stops at 9.30 am. It is a family run business and they employ the same staff they had last year who all work extremly hard to make sure everything is good for you. The Petros I think is a really good base, Just outside of the main village and close enough to walk into the busy, bustling night life. There is something for everyone in Tsilivi, the beach is lovely and sandy but unfortunatly covered in dogends and even used condoms unfortunatly, but the sea is clear blue and lovely and warm. We hired a car for some of our holiday and I feel was the best bit for us because we were able to explore the island for ourselves from the bustling town of Zakynthos to a sleepy village in the mountains. The down side to this is you have to be quite a confident driver because the zakynthians are crazy drivers and top that with all the holiday makers who hired mopeds and cars make driving very interesting. Also the road signs are all in greek of course so beware, we landed up a mountain track which turned into a terrifying twenty minute drive to nowhere, a very steep windy track, thankfully just before the top there was a tiny place to turn the car around in a thirty point turn!, we safely drove down again praying that no other car came up because there was absolutly no was to reverse either way. We took an organised tour to Kefalonia, there are several tour operators in the village and prices ranged from 45 euros down to 28 we went with the zante tourist board and we were not disapointed. Kefalonia is beautiful and Costas our guide was full of good information and was very amusing too, we paid 31 euros each for our trip and that was with a 10% discount, my advice is to ask for a discount and see what they say! This year we booked the hotel directly ourselves and we had air con and a fridge in with the price of the room, which was a huge saving on tour operator price. Choose your flight operator carefully because we were really mucked about by ours and only two days before we left we were changed from travelling out of stansted both ways to travelling outward from Gatwick and back to Stansted, then when we arrived at Gatwick our flight was "delayed" till the next day and we arrived at our destination 25 hours later. Finally all the restaurant we ate at were very good and usually pretty reasonable but you really must try the "Great Dane Restaurant" run by English people, (I can here people growning "Why") but they served excellent food very reasonably priced and the owner and staff were really nice, definatly worth a try!
Very Pleasant Hotel
My wife & I have recently returned from a one week's stay at the Petros & I must say we were pleasantly surprised. Although room was not massive it was cleaned everyday. Hotel staff were very pleasant. In a nice location about 5 minute walk to restuarants and 10 min walk to beach. Not over populated which made for a lovely relaxing holiday. Only minus point was we only had a shower not a bath (room 260) but smashing big balcony overlooking swimming pool. Would definately recommend it & we would stay here again.
A real gem (perhaps I should keep quiet and keep this hotel to myself).
My family and I went to the Petros last August, on a bed and breakfast basis, we arrived hot and tired and were plesantly pleased with our rooms. The hotel receptionist was friendly and helpful. The pool is large and there were plenty of sunbeds, there is a bar/snack bar at the pool side where they cooked up tasty snacks reasonably priced. The bed linen was changed regularly as were the towels, the bin in the bathroom was emptied every day, you pay the hotel for air con and fridge separetly. Petros is a short walk into the main part of town, where there are so many good restaurants and bars to choose from, there is a good mixture of people, young and old, and we always had a good time wherever we went. We are going back again for two weeks this August, this time I booked directly with the hotel and saved money.
