The Greenway Hotel

I attended The Greenway Hotel for Tea, which at £17.50 per head we expected the 'full works'! We had lovely sandwiches, cakes and biscuits - the food really was great. However the whole experience - meant to be a luxury treat - was spoilt by the indifferent staff and their poor service. We asked them to re-top our tea with hot water and as this didn't arrive, we asked for other tea pots to go round all 13 people which arrived after further chasing but we were shocked then on receiving the bill, that they'd charged us an extra... more

Had my wedding here and have returned many times since. The Von essen group are in my experience quite excellent and this hotel is no exception. Whilst they are limited on size of party (around 40 to eat), the quality of accomodation and food more than makes up for it. Location is superb- accesible to town yet wonderfully quiet. For a romantic, quiet getaway, close to all the cotswolds has to offer, yet in perfect serenity I can't see how the Greenway could be beaten. It has also been renevated recently and looks even better for it.

my wife took me here for my 40th just for an overnight stay. easy to find, just off the m5 and main trunk road, but set back enough not to hear any road noise. hotel receptionist very attentive and showed us immediately to our room, the hawthorn, on 1 st floor of main house, very large room, seperate dressing area, large alcove with desk, 2 more chairs and pleasant outlook. we immediately went downstairs for a drink and after locating a seat in the garden, the barman indicated an even more pleasant table in the sunken garden, giving us... more

We booked this Hotel for a 40th birthday celebration with family. It was an excellent weekend , the service was just right, the food excellent and everything about the Hotel was wonderful. We have stayed at many hotels and it is not often you come way feeling that a Hotel has got the balance just about right. If you want a Hotel with Character, in a lovely setting, with unassuming 5 star service then consider this place.

This was our treat for our very good friends. The web-site looked fabulous; very opulent, 'oldy worldy' country manor kinda thing. According to internet this hotel has helicopter pad, Rolls Royce Silver Shadow hire. It has big huge windows, big drapes, big open fireplaces, stacks of logs by the door as you go in, you getting the picture? DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. We stayed at this hotel in November and had a wonderful weekend. We had a junior suite which was huge and the bathroom was great. The restaurant was quiet but the food was excellent and creative. It is very family friendly as the hotel offers baby listening facilities which meant eating in the restaurant was easy, and the hotel in general did not have that "stuffy" feeling.

We had a disappointing experience at The Greenway and so would not stay again. The hotel itself is a large, old house which consists of the main building and the coach house. The main building is rather quaint with log fires and impressive furnishings, but some of the coach house is a little dated. We arrived on the Saturday afternoon, for our wedding on the Sunday. We had organised clay pigeon shooting for the afternoon and this proved a great hit, with those who didn't want to participate, being able to watch from the back of the hotel. The Saturday evening buffet was excellent and we retired to the beautiful rooms ready for the big day. We cannot fault the hotel or its staff in any way. My wife and I along with two other couples spent two nights over the 2005 New Years Eve period at the Greenway. Both the other two couples had been before at New Year and thoroughly enjoyed themselves on the other occasions. When we first arrived we were disappointed to be given a room in the Coach House as this is in an adjacent building to the main hotel (where our friends rooms were) though our room was very nice if somewhat dark. I treated my wife to a weekend away ay the Greenway, which is approx. 4 miles from the centre of Cheltenham. The hotel is reached from a busy main road but up a long private driveway. The country style hotel faces the Cotswold hills and is in a very peacefull position. We stayed in a suite in the Coach house a separate building to the main house.We were on the top floor and the rooms over looked the country side. The room was very pleasant and very spacious.
