This is one of Best Western's Premier (i.e. top-end) hotels. I stayed twice in December. Rooms are very clean - I was there close to Christmas and each time my room had its own fibre optic Christmas tree and other decorations - a really nice touch, characteristic of the... more

I stayed here on a leisure break with my family and this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in, everything was absolutely perfect. Set in beautiful grounds, with excellent facilities. The room was modern, extremely spacious, bunk beds for the children and a balcony... more

Pleasant, but lacks a personal touch
Stayed in a pavillion executive room for two nights. Was given a room overlooking the car park, not quite the 'stunning views over the golf course' that I expected! Room was very clean and spacious. Service was efficient but without a smile. Overall, not bad, but not great either.
This was our best Best Western...
I could have booked Early Bird April for 75 UKP/night, but my travel agent screwed it up (again!) at 120 UKP pp/pn (!!!). I rectified that myself days before arriving in July to 120 UKP pn, then cancelled the whole thing and booked on-line for 95 UKP. Gee thanks, travel agency. The hotel was easy to find, reservations and the front desk was fantastic from way before I arrived, fully equipped big rooms with all mod cons - except 10 UKP/night internet quit after 3 hours and never appeared again. Promised "IT man" never did appear by the time we checked out at 11:00am. Grounds are wonderful, restaurants are ample and clean. There was a wedding reception in progress while were there, but if you stayed away from the reserved event-room with the screaming uncontrolled kids all was fine. Why do Brits think kids should do whatever they please regardless? Parking was on the grounds (and free). Food was a reasonable price - if you paid for a main course at Carrey's Bar, went to the Carvery to select from the buffet line, then came back to Carrey's to eat. Beware of the roast anything... the Brits like it dried and hard - almost inedible to us on the other side of the pond. Breakfast (included) was in the Carvery and excellent with a wide range. Afterwards I took two Frosted Flakes portion boxes for snacks on the road, and nobody said anything. Highly reccommended. Yes, we'd go back in a heartbeat.
recomend this hotel
me and my husband went for our anniversary it was everything and more than what we expected.food was out of this world.had b.b and evening meal in christophers both nites.view from our balcony was breathtaking.we are in our 30s and we just wanted to relax .it was mostly older people staying there 50s-80s would not recomend if your looking for lively entertainment it was very quiet .staff were very pleasant and service was good.the room was very clean and big we stayed in the pavillion.the only bug bearer i had was the pillows were rock hard no good if you like a soft pillow like me.recomend this hotel u wont be disapointed.
Busy with weddings and awful food
My husband and I stayed here on a Saturday night. The hotel obviously is very popular with wedding parties as it was packed with shrieking girls in the toilets. We stayed in an executive room which was pleasant, with a balcony, large modern bathroom and separate shower. The whole hotel was a little dated, looked liked something from a Gentleman’s Club with mahogany wood panelling everywhere. There are three places to eat, bar food, carvery and a full restaurant. We decided to have the set price carvery. It was awful. The food had obviously been sat around for hours and hours. The service was despicable, we had to keep flagging down waiters to try and get a drink, the vegetarian option was a dried up fajita and the rice was crusty and brown in the dish, the deserts were tasteless, frozen gateaux. No-one bothered to give us our coffee either. I complained about my meal and did manage to get them to give me a full refund, as I had hardly touched the curled up fajita. The swimming area was nice. The changing rooms were very well thought out, with spinners, laundry bags etc. I think this hotel is trying to be too many things. It has a huge spa/treatment section, gym membership and caters for large parties. Therefore lacks in personal care.
Nice hotel and grounds
The Blunsdon house hotel is very comfortable and set in lovely grounds unfortunately I was unable to take advantage of the wide range of activities available at this hotel due to being on a tight schedule business trip, The food at this hotel is outstanding and the presentation good to The rooms are of a good size and have ample wardrobe space and trouser press Hotel is worth a visit
Always Reliable/Great Location
Stayed at this Hotel on several occasions and have just come back from a stay during freezing weather. Everything works well here including the heating!!! Excellent by British standards as are the rooms particularly in the new annex which over looks lovely countryside and a golf course. There are three levels of restaurants-casual through gourmet and the service is excellent as it is throughout the hotel and it's charming bars. For visitors to the UK the location is excellent - short drive from Heathrow and close to the Cotswolds, Oxford, Bath, Avebury, etc. This is an excellent convenient choice.
Excellent quality, excellent price
Stayed here for a night on a business trip. Reception was efficient and the room was excellent - large and comfortable. The bath was a whirlpool one! Dinner in the restaurant was quiet, but service was good and the food and wine were also good. I was also impressed to see that one of the other guests seemed to have a food allergy, and the chef was out in the restaurant discussing what he could cook for her. The price I paid was below £100 and included full cooked breakfast. All that, plus an excellent setting - if it wasn't for the time of year and the fact it was dark almost the whole time I was there, it would have been a lovely place for a walk. Recommended. I'll stay there again.
Should have 5 stars!!!
We stayed here for a family wedding. We rented four rooms and every one of them was great. Everything worked, bedding was clean, towels changed daily. Room service was a short wait. Breakfast choice and quality was excellent. Staff were polite and very helpful. The different bars all had a great ambience. The staff waiting on the wedding itself were excellent silver service staff and I would recommend this hotel for any wedding. I could not find a fault with it at all, and was not looking for any. Nothing was too much troble for the staff who are a credit to this hotel. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Should have 5 stars !!!
love this hotel
This hotel I would thoughly recommend. The rooms in the Pavalion are fab and so clean. The staff are really friendly especially the ladies in reservations and of course the irish barman. A great hotel. l
