great conference delegate stay
I recently stayed in this hotel whilst attending a conference there and I found it to be excellent, everything I asked for I was given, the food was interesting and varied everyday, my room which was standard room had all the usual hotel amenities and also FREE wi-fi which was a real bonus, my company have booked again later this year wj=hich I look forward to, all in all a very good stay.
Friendly staff, value for money
This hotel seems to have had some negative reviews, but it isn't expensive and I wonder what people expect. It's a small, family-run hotel and it must be incredibly difficult to make a living and keep up standards, so the slightly tired decor didn't worry us at all. We were greeted by the world's friendliest and most cheerful receptionist. Our standard double room, though small, was clean and perfectly adequate with crisp cotton sheets. The bathroom had a window and the room a beautiful view. The help-yourself breakfast was plentiful; hot... more
Fabulous room!
Just returned from one nights stay. We have three children aged 4, 8 and 13 so finding a room which accomodates all five of us and leaves enough room to walk around the beds let alone anything else is rare in the UK, however we had more than enough room and the children loved their three individual beds. The coffee was 'mild' and not what I'm used to, but once I asked for a stronger brew, one was brought without fuss. The room itself was spotless but the standard of cleanliness of the items coming from the kitchen was not anywhere near as... more
Don't rush here!
We stayed here for 2 nights in July for a weekend. The standard of the hotel is not what I would expect from a 3* Best Western Hotel. We paid £100 per night for a double room and it was not worth this much money. The grounds of the hotel are lovely and the location good for access to Bath. However the breakfast food and service is dismal, I have never seen such disorganisation and lack of available food in any hotel I have stayed in. The rooms are average and the bathrooms are in desperate need of updating. There is also a problem with... more
Nice setting, shame about the place
I stayed here on a work trip, my room on the first night was freezing as the sash windows didn't close, other colleagues had the same problem in other rooms. The TV remote didn't work and i found a pair of knickers in one of the drawers in the room. My ensuite bathroom was across a corridor and the fire exit ran through my "room" so i had a key for the bedroom and key for the bathroom (rm 34). On complaining the next morning, i was moved to room 36, much better, warmer and no complaints. It would appear after we complained that the heating... more
Disaster New year
Leigh Park Hotel – New Years Eve Package 2005 After three months of looking forward to a New Year break at this hotel, with memories of our excellent stay last year at the Best Western Falmouth Beech Hotel My husband and I, together with two friends, stayed at the Leigh Park Hotel over New Year and were extremely disappointed at events which took place during our stay. We arrived Friday afternoon 30th December about 3.30, given Room No. 30, I started to unpack to find not only was the bedroom very cold but there was no drawers,... more
Just OK
Stayed for a one night break. The hotel seemed rather under staffed as we had to wait a long time to check in, actively going to find a member of staff. Later on the extra milk requested at reception did not appear as promised - another sign of invisable staff. The room was large, quiet and comfortable - if you like pink! Bathroom large and well equiped but with a disappointingly weak shower.Dinner was OK but staff lacked a warmth of attitude and the room lacked atmosphere to ensure a truely enjoyable experience. Breakfast was fine. It was... more
Historic and comfortable
I stayed here with 2 business colleagues before a meeting. I was a bit worried by the very negative review, but was pleasantly surprised. The hotel has a lot of character and wonderful views - it was given to the Earl of Leicester by Elizabeth I (if I remember correctly). My room was up 2 flights of stairs, and was comfortable with a very large bathroom. The decor is a bit tired-looking and old-fashioned but ok. We had dinner at the hotel which was excellent - good choice and very good food. We were the only ones there. We had... more
Nice Room, Quiet and Clean, what more can you ask for £50/night B&B
Just stayed for a night following a Big Party. Good sized Double room, comfortable Bed and clean. Also very quiet. Excellent Value for money for £50/night B&B.
not great!
Some work colleagues stayed in this hotel. It was so bad they cancelled a further visit, which was due to cover a week with 11 rooms and a conference area. They are charging a 90% fee for the luxury of not staying. Shocking!
