Ialyssos Bay Hotel

I booked this hotel as a last minute deal a couple of days before we flew to Rhodes. In all honesty, I was so frustrated with looking for last minutes deals that fitted our criteria only to phone up and find that the price had gone up by X hundred of pounds that I ended up booking this hotel based on what a travel operator told me without looking the hotel up on the net. What a wonderful holiday! The hotel had recently been refurbished and was absolutely spotless, almost palatial! Our room had everything you would need, air-conditioning (a must), comfy bed spotless en-suite bath/shower room, fridge, balcony etc. My partner and I booked online and went the next day and to be honest, were not expecting miracles but on our arrival found it to be more than we could have ever expected. hello im writing this review as only just got internet and wish i had it before i had the misfortune of visiting this hotel.first of all one good point the receptionist thats it!! I took my 18 month old son with me and it was a danger to him,the park there was DANGEROUS as was the pool the childrens pool was discusting,as for his cot this was a dirty travel cot which was broken.The beach there is only suitable for the stray cats and dogs you could not let children on there they would end up hurt. We booked a last minute to rhodos the end of july to leave mid august. i found these bad reviews and thought i made a mistake. we arrived and they were more then friendly, we had all we needed in our room. It was very good located, the bus drove frequently and the hotel was a step away from the beach. The meals were buffetstyle, alot of choice and again very friendly people. I recently went to rhodes with my wife we stayed at the ialysos bay hotel. It really should not be called a hotel at all. To start with the rooms are not very big the interior is basic there is a nice balcony thats the plus side you can go out side and see the under side of the flying airplanes right above your head and enjoy the beautiful sunset, the air con is useless it is so hot, the food is not eadible and repetitive at that, and to top it all you are relaxing under the landing airplanes literally. we have just returned from the Ialyssos bay hotel in rhodes, we booked the ialyssos ROYAL bay a 5 star hotel on sunescapes on the internet, but the whole experience was a nightmare from arriving at the airport to find no tickets had been booked in our name and having to wait until check in closed 3 hours later before being re-issued tickets(thanks to a lovely girl Amanda at the thomas cook dsk) to arriving at the 3star ialyssos bay inthe middle of nowhere ,that even the locals wont use. I am a 26 yr old married woman who recently booked a trip to Rhodos, Greece for myself, parents and 21 yr old sister. We booked late notice and for 360Euros received airfare from FRA to RHO, 5 days/4 nights, all inclusive at the Ialyssos Bay Hotel. I did not know much about the island of Rhodes but felt for the money, I'd give it a try. We arrived at our hotel, which is outdated, but clean. My wife and I booked this hotel the day before departure as it appeared to be the only available left near to Rhodes Town and after reading the review from the guy from Glasgow I thought "crap made a mistake here" Although we spent 3 nights of the week in Symi so only spent 4 nights here it was pretty good. My husband and I have just returned from a weeks stay at the Ialyssos Bay Hotel in Rhodes on a half board basis. We stayed in this hotel for one week on a Half Board basis during June 2006. The hotel rates itself as 3 stars, in our opinion that is stretching it a little. The rooms were satisfactory as far as size and facilities but we had a MAJOR problem in that the rooms air conditioning system was very very poor indeed, making the first three night of our stay very unpleasant indeed, so much so we were tempted to relocate.
