Amphitryon Hotel

a perfect hotel in one of the most romantic places of greece. I spent a weekend in this hotel. I was astonished from the veranda view and the excelent friendly service. It was amazing, that the personell never accepted any kind of tip.

My husband I just returned from our three week honeymoon in Greece. He treated us to the Amphitryon while we were in Nauplio. It was simply wonderful, and lived up to its reputation. The view of the harbor and island fort was lovely, and enhanced with the completely open french doors to the balcony. We stayed in this hotel two nights. As has been said, very upscale and sophisticated. Wonderful views from the room, and an excellent restaurant. Keep in mind however, that it is very expensive, and most important perhaps, you can put the hotel and its restaurant in New York, Sydney, Buenos Aires or Tokio. Nothing in it reminds you or gives you an idea of where you are. No flavor, no character. If that is important, look elsewhere.

I decided to choose hotels as I went through Greece, except for Athens. WE would land in a town and armed with trusty guide books ( I usually have at least 4), drive to hotels that look interesting and ask to see the rooms. Also, we got the best rates that way. The Amphitryon was a grabber as soon as you entered the lobby, very W hotel, upscale, on a small road right off the water, with parking on the street for the rental car, that is, you can drive right to the hotel. This is an awesome little hotel with fantastic views of the harbor and close to the "hopping" boardwalk but not so close that you listen to the noise all night. The only drawback is tight parking and the lack of a pool (at present). Breakfast was excellent. The room was modern, clean, cool, sexy. And we weren't even on our honeymoon!

Great location. Wonderful ambiance. Friendly staff. Right on the harbor promenade, steps to cafes and restaurants. Soft, comfy, relaxing. Down comforters. Air conditioning that actually works. View over the harbor from every room. Great shopping. Dont stay just one night. Mike

This hotel had very modern rooms with Sony flat panel TVs and automated verticle Blinds. It also had STUNNING views of the bay and a 13th Century fortification 300 yards away on it's own island. There's no pool. No fitness facilities. Computer room on the 1st floor. We stayed in Room 312, which had a nice, large terrace attached. It was a great place to read or have breakfast. This is an outstanding hotel. Service is exceptionally attentive, friendly and quick without being intrusive, this includes attention to detail and very helpful reception staff. The setting is beautiful, in front of the Bourtzi castle, and this view is made full use of by picture windows throughout the hotel. The exceptional service continues into the dinning room, matched by the quality of the breakfast itself. This hotel was an ancient house and has been recently renovated to this excellent -"Leading Small Hotels of the World"- Hotel. It has a fantastic view of the Bourtzi castle, perfect for fall or spring time though as for the absence of pool and the average beach (not as beautiful as in other Peloponesse beaches like Kyparissia, or Porto Heli). We spent 2 nights in this hotel and wished we could have stayed longer -- the Amphytrion was by far our best hotel in Greece. Although there is no pool (you have to go to their sister hotel Nafplion Palace), everything else was just perfect, and the view of the Bourtzi is amazing. The style of this hotel is very modern, and everything is brand new. We highly recommend it.
