Hotel Poseidon Resort

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights as I was in Loutraki for a work conference. On first impressions the hotel looked very impressive. The ground were beautiful and it was all lit up at night and very romantic looking. The location looking out on to the sea was lovely. The check in and staff was smooth and efficient. The grounds are extensive and the first problem was trying to find my bungalow! I was staying in a bungalow - I assume it was the standard one as it was in no way luxurious. We travelled over 20,000 kilometres from Sydney, Australia to Loutraki, Greece to a Resort that was very tired, unkempt and lacked any real Greek passion. The rooms, surrounds and environ are not 5 Star - that is simply misleading and deceptive to portray that image on any of its promotional material. This place was terrible for the most part. Our room was small and not very clean with bugs in the bathroom. We didn't even have a clear mirror--it was covered with rust stains. The best was our last night when a giant bug larger than my thumb crawled under our door. The front desk staff was very nice as well as one bartender, but the rest of the waitstaff was incredibly rude and unhelpful. This hotel is so overpriced I could not believe it!We payed 180 euros per night BB and the hotel is ancient,the bungalow was supposed to be Sea Front and the only thing we saw from our balcony was the hotel's playground!they charge 1 euro for a small bottle of water and 5 euros for an awful capuccino at the hotel bar.....Also they are rude!On the first night of our stay inside the room was a cockroach !The beach is awful,the furniture is ancient and the A/C was so noisy we couls not sleep! If you want a fun-filled and relaxing vaction - this is not the place for you. Travelled here from Canada and what a waste of money. Rooms were old and dated and the paint was chipping so badly on the small balcony that we never sat outside. Most rooms don't even have a view of the water. Furniture was old and dirty and afraid to touch the sheets. Doors to rooms extremely loud and you never get a good nights rest with all the slamming of the heavy doors. Even had the cleaning staff just walk in without knocking as I was changing!!!... more

I just got back from my stay at this hotel and I cannot belive how it got its 5 star rating. The bathrooms were not properly cleaned, and even after a complaint there was still dirt and grime in the bathrooms. The concrete railing on the balcony was chipped. The AC didn't function properly. The grid irons at the pool were completely rusted. There were cans and other things in the water directly at the hotel beach. Rust pipes and metal hooks were all around the hotel's own beach. We stayed at the Poseidon Resort Hotel at the beginning of September and had a lovely holiday in a wonderful location. On our arrival we were given a bungalow at the top end of the resort. As I have walking difficulties it was not suitable for me. We spoke to the staff at reception and when guests had checked out the next day we were given a lovely bungalow right next to the restaurant at no extra charge. Although we would love to return, the hillside location is not suitable for anyone with limited mobility.

I totally agree with the previous traveller. I am a Greek myself as well and I beleive that this is probably one of the worse hotels in the Corinth area. ( and certainly the worse I have ever stayed ,and beleive me, I have tried a lot of 4 and 5 - star properties throughout the world). We spent our honeymoon at this resort (28th May 04) and even though it was a lovely hotel in a great location i wouldn't recommend it for a special occassion unless you don't mind being completely on your own. When we stayed there were very few english people around and the staff don't understand english too well either. Although in a great location, surrounded by pine trees overlooking the wonderful blue Corinthian Gulf, this resort is a disgrace for Greek tourism! I am a Greek myself, but I feel terrible about the hospitality, cleanliness, decoration and service of this resort.
