Elysium Hotel

Just got back from the Elysium and I can honestly say that before going to this hotel me and my partner were really nervous, what with the previous reviews and problems with the bookings and rooms and that... However you know what, those bad reviews couldn't be further from the truth if they tried... Well, not in our case anyhow,... on arrival the reception chap was so friendly, we asked him one question about the town and he proceeded to talk us through the whole place, best restaurants, clubs, bar, shops you name it he knew it...<br... more

The Elysium was not what I expected after reading the reviews from Trip Advisor. The staff was SO helpful and friendly. There was no problem with the reservation I made and my room was ready for me as soon as I got there. They picked me up at the port for no charge, took the time to explain all the sites and activities (especially the hot spots), and helped me arrange for a rental car. After what we had read about some unpleasant experiences at the Elysium, we brazed ourselves for the worst. But we were very pleasantly surprised by the outstanding politeness and helpfulness of the staff, especially at the front desk, and the general attitude at the hotel. The only drawback are the vast climb from the town to the hotel and the old appliances at the superior rooms (fridges too loud, etc.). We can recommend this hotel.

I am not sure what is going on with this hotel. We had made reservations almost a year ago and were already to stay at the Elysium this coming June. And guess what? When I sent them an email asking for a final confirmation of my reservation, they had never heard of me! Well, there loss is going to be our gain. We found a wonderful little hotel that does honor it's reservations and does not have the terrible attitude the Elysium does. The email I got back from the Elysium's Manager/Owner basically said "Tough luck!" Do yourself a favor.... more

Just wanted to add to the warnings here that a reservation at the Elysium is NOT guaranteed. Although I had a reservation booked 2 months ago I received an email from the proprietor that they could not honor it now. I responded asking for more details and got only an email with the website of the hotel across the street! Needless to say, we won't be giving the establishment our business -- now, or in the future.

The services and the management just dont know about service - they just run a buisness on the gay people,because of the money ! TOTALLY overpriced rooms, small breakfast and GOOD lunch!

I stayed at The Elysium in Aug of 2005 before I knew about trip advisor. First, most of the pictures on this site are NOT of the hotel I stayed in. The last 4 or 5 are correct pictures. Having read the reviews I would agree with most of them. I had booked two rooms for myself and a friend. A deluxe room for myself and a standard room for my friend. I made a reservation at this hotel several months in advance. I had read on here that other people had problems in that the hotel did not honor reservations. As a result of those postings, I had a friend who was already there, go to the hotel several weeks in advance to confirm my reservation. He told me that when he got there to check on it, my reservation was fine but there was another guest present who was encountering difficulties with his reservation. I also had a HORRIBLE AND UPROFESSIONAL experience with Hotel Elysium. I made a reservation during January 2005 at the Hotel Elysium...for a "two-room suite" to accomodate two couples for two nights in August 2005. Shortly prior to out departure for Europe, I received an e-mail note from the owner of the Hotel Elysium, Vassilis Chouliaras, stating that he was canceling our reservation. I had not been to Mykonos in 8 years and was shocked by the hike in prices without a comensurate improvement in hotel quality and service. The Elysium offers a great view including some stunning patio views and is nice for sunset- however it really stops there. While there have been some improvements around the pool since my last visit, the room interiors are essentially unchanged- stark and of very poor quality.
